"Fiona and Melodious told me a bit about you and said that I should come and meet you. They gave me this map," I said and held it out to her, but Kya just floated backward from me, making no motion to try to grab the paper. I sighed and pulled it back, putting it in my pocket. Why did Fiona put me up to this? Kya clearly has no clue who I am, and it doesn't look like she knows about Fiona either!
I was about to turn away, but Kya spoke up. "What do you want from me? You clearly want more than just to talk to me. I know about you; the blue woman you call Fiona told me."
I turned back and put my hand to my chin. "What do I want from you? Personally, I want to make sure that you are safe, and to learn something about you, since I have no memories. I could possibly know all about you, but I don't right now. On the other hand, I supposedly have an ability that can turn you into a weapon. My Queen, Melodious, and Maid, Fiona, are too powerful for me and are forcing me to find another for the first time. Again, not really what I want to do, but there has been a lot of doing things I don't want to while being told it is for the greater good," I said, and then sighed and looked deep into her eyes. "I can leave as long as I know you are safe and happy, and I will find another. It's just that I have seen how humans look at me, and I really don't like it."
"What do you mean? How do humans look at another human?" Kya asked, and I laughed, making her frown.
"Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but it is funny. Up until I walked through the town, I was fully convinced that I was as well, but I am clearly not. My presence must be too weak for you to feel it, or I just don't understand how it works," I said after I stopped laughing. For some reason, that laugh felt really good, almost like I needed to try to do it more often.
"You're... A monster?" She asked. I nodded with a grin and then looked down at the ground until I saw what I was looking for. "Watch this."
I reached down and grabbed a sharp thin rock, then straightened up. I opened my palm to her and then sliced the rock across it, leaving a deep gash that started to bleed but was quickly closed up. Doing so left me with a strange feeling of excitement, not pain.
As I did this, Kya remained silent until my hand healed up, and that made her gasp.
"Is that really how fast you can heal? Or are you using magic?" She asked curiously, and I shrugged.
"Truthfully, I am not sure. I can use magic, but I don't even know how I do it. According to everyone, it is part of being an Allgora, so I don't think it is magic," I said, and then walked over and into the water till I was up to my hips and offered my hand. "I see you have nails, so feel free to try them yourself. I have been stabbed numerous times now that should have been fatal, but my body just heals before the blades are even removed," I explained.
Kya hadn't moved away as I entered the water, but she made no attempt to make a move toward me. After a few moments of her staring at me, she slowly floated closer and tentatively took my hand.
"Go ahead," I said softly, and Kya quickly pulled out one of her nails and ran it across my palm. It left a deep gash, but again, by the time it stopped, it was already healing.
"That... that is incredible! You really are some kind of monster!" She gasped and then dropped my hand and backed away from me. "What else can you do?"
I laughed nervously, not sure how to respond. This was not what I had imagined would happen when I decided to go meet Kya. Normally... Well, that word didn't apply to me since my head was fogged, but this didn't feel like the way people normally interacted. Maybe this was normal for monsters?
"I can use magic, but I can only use a sleep spell or something. I don't even say words, and I didn't even think of sleeping to do it the first time; it just happened when I was trying to restrain a monster," I explained, and Kya pulled her hand back.
"Restrain? Why?" She asked, and I nodded.
"At first, I asked the same question, but not because I wanted to hurt them. I just didn't understand why I was trying not to. The best answer I could get that made any sense was that they were not real dangers. Yes, they could be violent, but I am sure anyone locked up would act that way," I said, thinking about the fights with the different monsters earlier in the day.
"I see," Kya said and then floated closer again but kept her distance from me. "Do you have any other abilities? I mean, that you know of?" She asked, and I shook my head no.
"Not yet, but I am living in the castle and learning how to become a better fighter. My instructor is very thorough, so I assume that I will learn more tomorrow and in the coming days," I replied, and Kya smiled.
"Well, it's nice to meet someone who doesn't want to use their powers against those weaker than them. And it sounds like you are learning quickly. The world needs more people like you." She said and then gave me an approving nod before she started back away and sank into the water. I guess this was the end of our talk.
