The next morning, Drey remained wide awake, showing no signs of fatigue. Shauna, the first to wake up, approached him, surprised by his lack of sleep yet still appreciative of his watchful presence.
"Drey, I can't help but be amazed that you haven't slept. I'm sorry if I seem surprised, but thank you for keeping watch... You can take a rest now, we will also do our part to contribute."
"No need to apologize, Shauna. I don't feel tired for some reason."
Rachel joined them, offering to take charge of cooking breakfast. Drey expressed his gratitude and guided her to the location of the ingredients and the cooking area.
"Hey, guys! I noticed you're awake, Drey. How about I handle breakfast today?"
"That would be great, Rachel. The ingredients are over there, and you can cook in the kitchen area.
"Thanks, Drey! I'll make sure we have a delicious meal ready for everyone."
With breakfast prepared and eaten, Drey initiated a conversation, revealing his intentions to embark on a journey in search of his family. Jamie, in her tomboyish manner, voiced her concerns about the dangers that awaited him outside.
"I know you are something else, Drey. But the zombies are somehow getting stronger..."
"I understand your worries, Jamie. But I have to find my family. They mean everything to me. "
"It'll indeed be dangerous out there, Drey. Just be careful, okay?"
Lana interjected, reassuring Jamie and the others.
"Don't worry, Jamie. We've seen how Drey handled those zombies yesterday. I believe he can take care of himself."
Carl then chimed in, curious about the origins of Drey's weapons. Drey responded with a mysterious smile, hinting at hidden secrets.
"Where did you get those weapons, Drey?"
"Everyone has their secrets, Carl."
Rachel noticed the tension and change the topic, she knew that Drey has his secrets, so she change the topic and asked Drey if she could follow him on his journey, to also find her family, which shocked her classmates because of the dangers the world has become.
"Carl, instead of focusing on where his weapons came from, let's think about something else. Can I come, with you Drey?"
Drey didn't mind Rachel's request, as he was confident in his abilities. However, he instructed the group to remain in the mall for a few hours while he took care of something outside.
"Sure, Rachel. You can come with me. But before we leave, I need you all to stay in the mall for a few hours. I have something to take care of first."
His true goal was to hunt and kill mutated zombies to obtain more advanced weapons, but he chose not to reveal this to his new friends for the time being.
