Pov Meilin:
Besides the strange energy I felt from that guy, which I can't explain....
"It hurt, it hurt as if I had really been stabbed in the heart," I reflected.
The pain of being stabbed with a spear is indescribable, even though I had been through a few fights before and had been cut and stabbed in my extremities, that pain doesn't compare to being stabbed in a critical place.
"The feeling is fucking realistic, but I don't feel bad," I thought.
You should know that the nature of a living being, in general, is to avoid anything that could potentially be deadly. The fact that I have no mental inhibitions about facing that guy again says a lot about the nature of this artifact.
"I suppose this place can somehow avoid creating trauma or any mental issues related to the situations you face here."
In the Tower of Legends, there is no such effect, since my older brother, who is the first prince, developed a very heavy trauma related to the soul devourers when we were crushed.
"I understand it very well, since that was horrible."
Soul attacks are very different from physical or elemental attacks. Soul attacks strike directly at the soul and cannot be blocked by conventional methods.
The pain of being hit directly in the soul is a feeling you don't want to experience in life. Obviously, we carried some countermeasures because of the information we had from them.
"But it is a problem that they attack while you are resting."
Soul-eaters use a variety of strategies to overwhelm those who invade their territory. One is to create a spiritual connection with the victim through a third party.
When this happens, the victim does not realize that he has been marked by the devourer and continues normally as he would until it is time to rest, where the soul devourer, through the spiritual connection, invades the sea of consciousness and initiates his attack on the target's soul.
The worst thing is that you can not easily identify that you have been marked because, as I said, a third party is used, like other creatures that abound in the ecosystem and with which you inevitably have to fight.
To avoid this attack, or rather, to withstand it, you need to send your consciousness to your sea of consciousness and try to eliminate or isolate this invader with your mental strength until you are helped. My older brother is not the most talented of us, so being marked, he was completely brutalized by the attacks of that devourer.
You have to remember that, in the tower of legends, the enemies' realm scales with the floor of the tower, which means that, the higher you go up, the higher your opponent's cultivation realm will be, and at that time, the creatures we faced were around the Earthly Emperor realm.
Needless to say, the attack of a devourer in the Earthly Emperor realm was very painful, no matter how small the damage is compared to the bugs in reality.
"Fortunately, they are extinct," I thought with relief.
Back to the current situation...
"I guess he was lucky, since me, I didn't count on him using his tail," I concluded after analyzing that battle.
I could see that my physical strength was a bit greater than his. If it wasn't for his surprise attacks with his tail, I would have surely gained the dominant position, and the battle would have been won if I had used all my techniques.
"Yes, I just have to watch out for his tail, and I'm sure I can win," I encouraged myself.
Although maybe my enemy has more aces up his sleeve, I'm sure there will be nothing more annoying than a limb you assumed wasn't there.

"I'm going to win this time," I thought, and pressed the "Retry" button.
I got up from the ground and quickly examined my body and spear to prepare for combat. This time, the counter started from 20 seconds, giving me time to prepare properly.
The battle started the same way as the previous time, so I decided to continue it the same way, but with some changes....
Clang! Collision! Clang!
Just as we were about to collide again, instead of receiving the attack with vigor and trying to win with my strength, I dodged it and prepared to make quick attacks with the spear.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
Seeing that we were not going to have a showdown of strength, the guy immediately took a defensive stance to protect himself from my quick attacks.
This was the strategy I came up with, since it's obvious that in close-range combat I'll be at a disadvantage just because this guy has an extra limb. So, taking advantage of the short range my precious spear gives me and my slightly stronger physical capabilities, I overwhelmed him to progressively expend his stamina.
My strategy was successful, as his stance began to waver....
Clink!
That sweet sound of my spear reaching his armor gave me a hint that the time would soon be right.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
I saw my chance after I spotted that his stance wavered enough to leave his neck unprotected.
Swoosh!
My attack was almost successful, as the edge of my spear grazed his neck, causing a small flesh wound.
The guy, seeing the danger of the situation, immediately took distance and began to fly away.
His wound was not serious, just a superficial cut from which a little blood came out. However, it is important to remember that we are dragons, so our wounds recover in a matter of seconds thanks to our excellent regeneration capacity.
Shortly after recovering, the guy seemed to reflect for a moment before finally extending a hand.
"What is that?", I asked quizzically.
The guy was holding in his hand a circle with incomprehensible inscriptions that appeared to be a matrix, but it had no spiritual energy, which was vital to its functioning.
The circle was red and glowed with a faint intensity?
Fwoosh!
Surprisingly, a fireball erupted from the circle, but I wasn't too worried.
"Puff, ha, ha, ha, ha, I doubt that will do anything to me," I said confidently.
The specialty of us Azure clan dragons is our immunity to the elements. This means that we are immune to any elemental attack as long as our realm is similar to that of the attacker. At worst, the attack will only cause a slight tickle.
But my laughter stopped when my instincts warned me of danger coming from that fireball. I didn't know why, but I obeyed my instincts and covered my body with spiritual energy and, just in case, my hands.
Boom!
The fireball impacted directly on my hands, which were covered with light armor, destroying my spiritual energy shield completely.
Tsss!
I could feel and see the power of the fire through my armor and the heat in my hands, which was very intense.
"Why?" this situation puzzled me.
The elemental damage should be nullified or, at most, cause a small tingle, but my burning hands showed that something was wrong with those fireballs summoned from the strange circle.
The man, seeing that his earlier attack had been effective, summoned another circle in his free hand and ordered the unknown circles to fire multiple fireballs.
Although I had taken moderate damage before, it was because I had not put enough effort into my defenses. Now, as I paid more attention to protect myself from those fireballs, I doubted that they could penetrate my defenses.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
This situation seemed inefficient to me, as I doubted that those fireballs would expend much energy. I remembered that we dragons practically breathe spirit energy, and since my spirit energy shield had a low cost, this exchange could easily go on forever, or at least until one of us changed our strategy.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fireballs were incessantly hitting my spirit shield, but nothing else. It was just a waste of time for me, and maybe for him, more time to think about how to approach the battle.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
There was a moment when I could not see my opponent due to the amount of fireballs that had impacted my spiritual energy shield, hindering my vision.
Boom! Boom!
After a few minutes of intense bombardment, I felt the intensity diminish. When I tried to see my opponent to check what strategy he had pondered, I only saw the activated red circle throwing fireballs.
As for the man, he was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is he?", I exclaimed, completely dumbfounded.
By the time I tried to scan the perimeter with my senses to quickly find my opponent, it was too late....
¡¡¡!
"Ughh," I was pierced in the torso by the spear of my enemy, who was behind me.
Shlup!
The man pulled out the spear and, by inertia, I knelt down, as the previous attack had completely drained my energy.
Seeing me kneeling, the man wasted no time and decapitated me.

[You've been killed!]
[Try again?] [Exit ]
Boom!!!
I hit the ground.
"Fuck!", I cursed for this defeat.
