Chapter 18 - Immortal World: The Soul Does Not Forget

POV Elizabeth:

As I laid eyes on my father for the first time after exiting the room where, according to the dolls, I had been held captive for five years, I felt his love and concern wash over me. It was a feeling of being loved, a feeling I had long forgotten.

"Dad, I'm okay. In fact, the dolls you gave me taught me many incredible things that will help the revival of our glorious Absolute Dragon clan," I replied to my father's concerned question.

Through the dolls, I had learned about the current situation of our once glorious and powerful race, now extinct in a mysterious manner.

As a female dragon, I had always been taught to pride myself on my superiority and to avoid mating with males who did not meet certain standards of quality and power. But the dolls had revealed to me the complexities of our reproduction problems. Our males preferred to mate with inferior races like elves or humans, instead of choosing their own kind. Meanwhile, our females refused to cross with a dragon that did not meet their high standards. This resulted in a limited pool of available specimens for pure reproduction, leading to low birth rates and eventual extinction.

But our race had not gone down without a fight. We were hated by many creatures in our world, including our own kind, who had different categories and standards for power. Despite the odds, the Absolute Dragons had fought a war against the world, proving that our race was not something to be messed with.

The reason why we had no allies was because pride filled our own kind, and we looked down on those who were impure, even if they came from our own family tree but did not possess the characteristics that we so proudly boasted of. By the time my peers realized that a total war against the world might not be a good idea, it was already too late. Many great families fell, including the new generation, and thus the world put an end to us, all because of our useless attitudes.

So in this life, I resolved to help my father resurrect the glorious Absolute Dragon Clan. In fact, based on what I remember and what I asked the doll, my father had completely different behaviors from any male dragon of my species.

According to the doll, my mother was the only female my dad ever mated with, something unheard of for a dragon characterized by natural lust. That's why I thought my dad was a trailblazer, shaped by the experiences and mistakes of our deceased clan. This theory gained even more credibility when I saw this new world where there were no legends or vital information about our race.

Now, as for mom, well, she's odd... no, she could be called defective or rather, tamed? You should know that mothers of the Absolute Dragon Clan are not known for their love towards their offspring like other dragons. So why would she come to my birth? At first, I thought she would eliminate me to have more time with my father, but then, when the doll explained my mother's intentions to me, I couldn't comprehend it.

As I thought about my father, I realized that he had tamed my mother, a dragon known for her pride, and forcing her to witness my birth was a way to challenge the customs of our race. This theory gained even more strength when I discovered that my mother's blood purity was at least two levels below that of my father's. While this wasn't necessarily a bad thing, when you consider the pedigree of my father, it becomes a problem. My mother's lower status could have led to jealousy and attempts to harm me because of my superior bloodline inherited from my father, but over time, nothing happened, leading to two possible conclusions: my father had tamed her, or she was defective.

Despite all of this, my time in that place could be called valuable, as I learned a great deal of valuable knowledge from the dolls. Dragons in general have photographic memory from the moment they are born, which is why you must either kill or make peace with a dragon if you ever have problems with them. Later, when they recover, they may seek revenge.

The first thing I learned there, of course, was the language, which wasn't very difficult. According to the doll, I learned the local language at the age of 7 months, which surprised me since she could understand my body language so well when I was a baby.

After learning the language, it didn't take long for me to start speaking, and thus, I took my first steps into the vast and infinite world of knowledge: mathematics, geography, biology, genetics, and more. These new and incredible knowledge areas made me hunger for more, and I understood why my father had sent me there. He wanted me to become the mother of our clan and guide our descendants with wisdom.

With that in mind, I was able to learn various useful skills and knowledge for our clan, from military science to domestic logistics.

Everything was routine in that place: I would wake up, do some basic stretching, run a bit to get my body accustomed to not being lazy, eat a delicious buffet prepared by the dolls, which have an incredible taste. I would study with them, having debates and asking many questions related to the subjects I was learning. In fact, I grew fond of both dolls, even at times calling them mothers. It was then that I realized my father's purpose was a success.

At the end of the day, I simply slept. I didn't dream anything in particular, until that day...

Dream 1:

As I became aware, I could see my room, which appeared normal, but the atmosphere around me was different, hard to describe. So I quickly realized I was dreaming and decided to explore the place. I wondered what the dolls would look like in my dream, but after a long time searching, I couldn't find them.

Finally, I made my way back to my room. As soon as I walked in, I immediately sensed that something was different, that something had changed. And then I spotted it: a small lizard was staring at me from my bed. At first glance, one might think it was a pet, but suddenly, I realized that it was actually a dragon, and a very unusual one at that.

"Who are you?" I asked, but the dragon simply gazed at me without moving, which momentarily bewildered me, until I remembered that this was all just a dream. Yes, I felt a bit foolish.

As I approached to examine the little dragon more closely, I could make out more of its details: it was silver and its eyes had a peculiar shape. Its form resembled that of our clan, the Absolute Dragon, but it clearly did not belong to our clan. Even a baby Absolute was larger than this tiny dragon.

Nevertheless, I could not deny its aura. You must know that the aura of a dragon is akin to their personal identification. Although an aura may be similar to that of their father, it has unique nuances that represent them. As an Absolute Dragon myself, I possessed an aura that curiously bore more resemblance to that of my mother.

The aura of this little dragon bore similarities to that of my father, indicating that we were related. This little dragon was my brother.

As my brain tried to comprehend the fact that in my dreams an unidentified dragon had an aura similar to that of my father, the little one finally acted.

"Grrrrr! Grrrrr!"

Anyone would think that growl was a small and cute demonstration of affection from this dragon, but as a pure Absolute Dragon, I could understand that the little one was speaking the dragon language. Translated into common language, it would be something like:

"Observe and do not forget."

After processing what it said, I woke up.
