(POV Ethan)
The wind slashed my face as I flew over the city, my mind still swirling with images of the previous confrontation. The reptile's death hadn't been enough to calm the storm raging within me. Kuririn was dead, and something told me that creature was just the tip of a much larger iceberg.
I landed on top of an abandoned building, needing a moment to collect my thoughts. The sun was still high in the sky, its relentless rays reflecting off the skyscraper windows around me like thousands of watchful eyes.
"Damn it, Kuririn," I murmured to the wind, punching the wall beside me. The concrete cracked under my fist, but the physical pain was insignificant compared to the weight I carried in my chest. "Why you?"
That's when I felt it β a presence that made my senses scream in alert. It wasn't particularly powerful, but there was something about it that deeply unsettled me. An ancient energy, laden with malice, that seemed to taint the very air. My ki reacted instinctively, sending chills down my spine.
A gigantic aircraft emerged from the clouds, its shadow swallowing entire city blocks. You didn't need to be a genius to know this wasn't a coincidence. My muscles tensed automatically, preparing for what was to come.
"So this is how it's going to be," I said to myself, assuming a combat stance. The air around me began to vibrate with my rising energy.
The aircraft door opened with a metallic noise that echoed through the city. Four figures emerged, hovering in the air like crows ready for a feast. But it was the central figure that captured my attention β a green-skinned being with a face twisted in pure hatred. Even from a distance, I could feel the weight of his years, though his power didn't seem to match his reputation.
"Piccolo Daimaoh," I whispered, instantly recognizing the living legend. The stories painted him as a terrifying being, but the ki I felt from him was... disappointing.
"ETHAN!" His voice thundered across the city, making the glass in nearby buildings vibrate. "You dared to kill my son!"
The initial confrontation was almost disappointing. Despite all his reputation, Piccolo Daimaoh wasn't what I expected. Every blow he tried to land, I blocked with ease. His evil energy, though dense, felt weak compared to the power coursing through my veins.
"Is this all the great Piccolo Daimaoh can do?" I taunted, dodging another of his attacks with a fluid movement. "I thought Kuririn's killer would have a more powerful master."
Frustration was evident on his face. His techniques, refined over centuries of existence, barely managed to scratch me. It was like he was fighting a mountain with twigs.
"Impossible!" he roared, launching a blast of energy that I dispersed with a single wave of my hand. "How can a mere human have such power?"
I was about to end the fight when I felt it β a disturbance in the very fabric of reality. The air began to ripple, as if space itself was being torn apart. From a dimensional rift, a figure I had never seen before emerged.
"Fu," I heard Piccolo mutter, his voice a mixture of surprise and hope.
The newcomer adjusted his glasses with a sinister smile. His white hair floated in a nonexistent wind, and there was something in his eyes that put me instantly on guard.
"Well, well," Fu said, his voice laced with disturbing joy. "What an interesting fight I've found here. But it seems a little... unbalanced, don't you think?"
Before I could react, Fu materialized a pulsing black energy sphere in his hand. "Piccolo Daimaoh, how about we discover your true potential?"
Everything happened in a blink. Fu hurled the sphere of dark ki toward Piccolo, who absorbed it completely. The power that exploded from him next made my blood run cold.
Piccolo's body began to change. His muscles expanded, black veins pulsing beneath his green skin. His eyes, once calculating, now gleamed with a dark purple energy that seemed to suck in the light around him.
"This... THIS IS INCREDIBLE!" Piccolo roared, his voice now loaded with a power that rivaled my Super Saiyan Blue form. The energy emanating from him was so dense it formed a visible aura of darkness.
Fu watched it all with a satisfied smile. "Now we'll have an interesting fight," he said, floating to a safe distance.
I realized the situation had changed drastically. Piccolo's ki was now at the same level as mine β maybe even greater. The dark energy Fu had given him seemed to have unlocked a monstrous hidden potential.
"Let's start again, Ethan," Piccolo said, his voice reverberating with newfound power. "And this time, you'll understand the true meaning of terror!"
I focused my energy, letting the power of Super Saiyan Blue flow through my body. The celestial blue of my aura violently contrasted with the darkness emanating from Piccolo.
"So be it," I replied, assuming my combat stance. "But don't think this power-up will change the final outcome!"
The sky darkened further, as if nature itself wanted to make way for the titanic clash about to begin. Fu observed with an almost scientific interest, while Piccolo and I prepared for a confrontation that would surely shake the very foundations of the Earth.
The real battle was just beginning.
The first clash of our energies cracked the very sky. Piccolo's dark ki collided with my Super Saiyan Blue, generating shockwaves that devastated entire blocks. Fu watched from afar, his wicked grin growing with each explosion.
"Impressive," Piccolo growled, his body moving at a speed my eyes could barely track. "But it's still not enough!"
In the blink of an eye, he was behind me. His fist, charged with dark energy, struck my ribs before I could react. The impact hurled me through three skyscrapers.
"Impossible!" I thought, regaining my balance in the air. "He's even faster than before!"
Piccolo didn't give me a chance to breathe. His movements were precise, calculated, as if each attack was part of a deadly choreography. Even with Super Saiyan Blue, I could barely keep up.
"MAKANKOSAPPO!" he roared, firing his signature attack. The piercing beam, now amplified by dark ki, cut through the air like a laser of pure darkness.
I dodged by millimeters, feeling the heat of the attack sear my cheek. But it was a trap β Piccolo was already there, his knee slamming into my stomach with brutal force.
"How about this?" he taunted, his hands moving in a blur. "HELLZONE GRENADE!"
Dozens of energy spheres surrounded me, converging from all directions. The resulting explosion lit up the entire city, turning day into night for a few seconds.
I fell to my knees on a half-destroyed building, blood streaming from multiple wounds. Piccolo's power was absurd β every strike carried the force of a supernova.
"You haven't seen anything yet," he declared, his body emanating an even denser aura. "This is the true power of the Demon King!"
Then I felt it β that familiar sensation, that warmth growing in my chest. My body began to move on its own, instinctively dodging Piccolo's blows.
"What?" he snarled, his attacks finding only empty air.
My hair began to shine silver, a silver aura enveloping my body. Ultra Instinct was awakening.
"No... NO!" Piccolo roared, intensifying his attacks. But it was useless β my body predicted and avoided every move automatically.
"It's over, Piccolo," I declared, my calm voice contrasting with the chaos around us. The Mastered Ultra Instinct flowed through my veins like liquid mercury.
Our fists met one last time, generating an explosion that made the Earth itself tremble. But now it was different β my every movement was perfect, precise, inevitable.
"HAAAAAA!" I shouted, unleashing a flurry of blows so fast they seemed to happen simultaneously. Piccolo was struck hundreds of times in less than a second.
But before the final blow, I saw his sinister smile. With a swift motion, he spat something β an egg, glowing with vital energy.
"You can kill me," he said, blood dripping from his mouth, "but my legacy... will continue!"
"KAMEHAMEHA!" I released all my energy in a single, devastating attack. The beam of silver light engulfed Piccolo completely, disintegrating his body.
The egg, however, had already disappeared into the shadows of the ruined city. Fu was also gone, leaving only his laughter echoing in the air.
I floated to the ground, my body returning to normal as Ultra Instinct faded. The battle was won, but something told me this wouldn't be the last time I faced Piccolo Daimaoh's legacy.
"Kuririn," I murmured, looking up at the now-clear sky, "you have been avenged. But I have a feeling our fight is just beginning."
Somewhere in the city, an egg pulsed with life, waiting for the moment to hatch.
