Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Betrayal and Rejection

Lyra made her way back to the kingdom, carrying the sword with her. As she walked, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at having completed her mission. The sword was a powerful weapon, and it would be put to good use in the hands of the kingdom's mightiest warrior.

However, as Lyra approached the castle gates, she could sense something was off. The guards looked uneasy, and there was an air of tension in the air.

"Is something wrong?" Lyra asked one of the guards.

He hesitated for a moment before finally answering, "Your stepmother has ordered us to seize the sword and bring it to her."

Lyra's heart sank. She knew that her stepmother had always been power-hungry, but she never thought she would stoop so low as to steal from the kingdom.

"I can't let that happen," Lyra said, gripping the sword tightly. "I have to get this to the mightiest warrior."

She pushed past the guards and made her way through the castle, dodging servants and guards alike. She finally reached the throne room, where the king and queen were sitting on their thrones.

"Lyra, what are you doing here?" the queen asked, surprise evident in her voice.

"I've come to deliver the sword to the mightiest warrior," Lyra replied. "But the guards told me that you're trying to seize it for yourself."

The queen's expression turned cold. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Lyra didn't believe her for a second. She knew that her stepmother was lying.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness, but I can't let you take the sword. It's not yours to take," Lyra said firmly.

At that moment, the doors to the throne room burst open, and a group of assassins poured in. They were clad in black and carried daggers in their hands.

Lyra knew that she had to act fast. She drew her sword and prepared to defend herself.

The battle was intense, and Lyra found herself fighting for her life. She could hear the king and queen shouting commands to the guards, but she was too focused on the fight to pay much attention.

Finally, the last of the assassins fell to the ground, and Lyra was left standing, panting and covered in sweat.

"Lyra, what is the meaning of this?" the queen demanded.

Lyra turned to face her stepmother, her eyes blazing. "You sent those assassins after me, didn't you? You were trying to steal the sword."

The queen didn't deny it. "The sword is rightfully mine. It was my father's, and it should have been passed down to me. I only took what was rightfully mine."

Lyra shook her head in disbelief. "That's not how it works. The sword belongs to the kingdom, and it's not for you to decide who gets to wield it."

At that moment, one of the queen's knights stepped forward. "My queen, let me take the sword. I will use it to protect the kingdom and restore order."

The queen nodded, a satisfied smile on her face. "Very well, Sir Gareth. Take the sword and do what you must."

Lyra watched in horror as the knight approached her, his hand outstretched to take the sword. She could feel the power emanating from the weapon, and she knew that it was not meant for him.

Suddenly, the sword pulsed in her hand, and she could feel its energy coursing through her body. The knight recoiled in shock, and Lyra knew that the sword had rejected him.

"It's not meant for idiots like you" the evil sword shouted as it recoiled to Lyra's hand.

Lyra's eyes widened in shock as she heard the sword speak. She had never heard anything like it before, and she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"What...what did you say?" she asked, staring at the sword in disbelief.

The sword remained silent for a moment before speaking again. "I said that it's not meant for idiots like him. I am the great sword ᏁᏗᎥᏖᎩᏝᎦᎥ...just call me Gram."

Lyra couldn't hold her laugh as she tried to stay serious in the moment. The earth shook as Sir Gareth ran at her full force trying to crush the fragile princess, she instantly burnt the smoke plant to make a breakthrough and escape.
