Alen's mind was reeling with this new information. "Then why did you need me as a weapon if you already had the drug? Why did I have to get involved?" he demanded.
Hailey sighed heavily. "The New Gen Project was shut down because of its effects on a person's mana. We couldn't guarantee that the drug would give them an ability, and if it did, we couldn't guarantee that it would work as intended. And even if it did work, the person would lose their ability to perform magic forever. We needed to find a better way to develop the drug, and for that, we needed more information."
Alen's eyes widened with shock as he listened to Hailey's account. "So, you're saying that the drug could potentially take away a person's ability to perform magic forever, even if it worked?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
