The room was filled with anticipation as Alen finally spoke, his voice unwavering. "I'm willing to take the risk, Eve. If there's a chance to become stronger and help others, then I choose to embrace it." Alen said, lying through his teeth. He couldn't let a chance to gain more power pass.
The tension in the room lingered as Eve brought out a needle with a glossy liquid inside it. Suddenly, the sound of a rapid heartbeat invaded Alen's ears. It was coming from Eve; she seemed nervous about something as she injected the needle into Alen, pushing the substance in it, and quickly withdrawing the needle.
"Is that it?" Alen asked, but instantly his vision turned blurry, and the room felt like it was spinning. He collapsed to the ground, and as his vision faded, he could see the two women standing over him and talking.
"If he truly is as dangerous as I've heard, it would be best to dispose of him quickly," Hailey said. And Alen could see the slightest nod coming from Eve.
