As Alen jabbed his sword aiming for Jack's eye, Zelda cast a protection spell seconds before the sword made an impact. Alen's attack had been blocked and Jack still unable to believe what had happened fell to his knees the moment he realized he was a split second away from death.
The hostility displayed came as a shock to everyone in the room as no one had imagined someone as young as Alen could kill someone, Quinn who looked unfazed walked slowly towards his friend certain that the former would not harm him. He gently reached his hand out and took the sword Alen had in his hand.
"It's okay, I'm sure we can solve this problem without resorting to violence," Quinn said as he walked toward the Holy Knights and returned the sword.
"Why don't we just choose, who wants to stay and fight and who wants to go home, this way everyone decides what they want as an individual without feeling pressure from the other party."
Quinn's proposal seemed to have calmed down some of the people while Jack was humiliated and having his pride and dignity taken by someone, he considered weaker than him had awakened a desire to get back at his attacker, he now had a raging inferno in his heart and all he could think about was killing the one responsible.
He stood back up and calmly walked over to the other great heroes at the center of the hall, the chaos had settled down, and now the saviors were dividing themselves into groups of who wanted to stay and who wanted to leave. But the King stood up and the words that came out of his mouth sent the room to silence once again.
"I understand how you feel, however... you can't return to your world."
Silence befell the room it was as if everyone had been turned to stone no one dared to move as everyone gazed at the King with horrified expressions on their faces.
"Wha- what do you mean by impossible... you summoned us here you can send us back right!?"
"Yeah, you can't be serious about this."
"If this is some kind of joke screws you all!!"
This information had instilled fear and caused mass panic among the other worlds and now the ones who wanted to go back home had completely lost themselves to despair, all except for three people Alen, Quinn, and one of the great heroes who also wanted no part in this war Alice rondo, A girl who had a serious expression on her face. Her long golden hair stood out as it acted as a strawberry onto of her beauty, she seemed calm and collected her expression never changing.
"We can only summon heroes from other worlds and even then - we don't choose which world we summon heroes from, given that we can't return heroes to their original worlds either," The head priest said.
"And since our world doesn't have mana or magic," Alen said. "No one can summon us back to it, basically we're stuck here," Alice said finishing Alen's sentence.
The Hall settled down, but the atmosphere was dreary and heavier than before the majority of the saviors were lost in thought, thinking that this had to be some kind of nightmare and they hoped they could wake up. The king ordered the knights to bring some artifacts into the room as he had planned to give them to the heroes.
One of the knights left and after a few moments later returned with a floating table, the table had a white piece of cloth on it, but everyone could see it made no contact with the floor, The king stepped forward and placed his hand on the fabric before pulling it off and revealing three different colored orbs.
" Great Heros, this is what we call an ability orb. Ability orbs are relics of a bygone era but just because they're old doesn't mean they're worthless, these orbs are still a mystery to us, and as the name suggests they hold a different ability sealed within them."
" Abilities use mana just like spells and other skills but the difference is, with magic one has to learn the magic spells and incantations before they can produce anything, the same can be said of skills one has to have a general concept of the said skill before they could use them. But abilities don't require such preparations once someone touches the orb and chooses the ability, they can use the ability."
"Although yes they do still consume Mana, they can be a burden for someone whose class highly depends on Mana, so please heroes choose three among you who wish to pass these artifacts to." Said the high priest as he stood firmly by the king.
Without hesitation two of the five great heroes stood up, Chris and Jack they made their way to the king each glaring at each other while trying not to make seem obvious that they each wanted an orb.
"Having an ability as well as a bad arse title like a great hero would boost my power, and with my stats and once I level up, I'll kill that weak asshole for humiliating me like that" Jack thought to himself as his face contracted with anger and his heart filled with resentment.
The orbs had three different colors, red, blue, and green. Chris and Jack had reached for the colors that resonated with them more, Adam taking the red and Chris the blue leaving a single green orb on the floating table. Seeing this and since Alice had decided not to participate and from the looks of it one of the twin brothers had already taken an orb and Adam seemed uninterested in Lamis a girl with silky smooth purple hair and a figure that turned heads wherever she went stood up and made her way to the last orb.
But just as she was about to grab the orb, the item lit up and flew in the sky now hovering over the hall as it went in circles until eventually going back down, but the orb seemed to have chosen who would use its ability as it descended to one of the savior, a girl with green hair that went all the way down to her waist a timid girl who Alen had meet once before. It was Theresia.
The orb dropped directly into Theresia's hands it's bright green light blinded most of the people near her and once the light faded in the place of the orb was a book, a black book with a gold pattern on the cover, once the book had completely formed Theresia's eyes which were previously back turned blood red.
The head priest had never seen such a thing happen before but with everything that has happened today this was the least of his worries, the king stood up and gave a speech, but no one seemed to be in the mood to entertain his majesty. He knew these young people needed to get used to life in this other world that's when he decided to offer some of them a choice, they could abstain from battle and live out their lives the way they wanted.
While getting financial support from the king, he didn't promise them anything considering the situation they were in if the kingdom was to fall they would be left alone, as for those who were interested in fighting for their survival and ensuring the survival of the human race training was to begin tomorrow early in the morning and once their level was high enough only then would they be allowed to join the battlefield.
With all that said and done the saviors were escorted back to their mansion to rest up and think about what they wanted to do.
*******
A month had passed and within this time the other worlds who had decided to fight had leveled up to shocking heights, they were separated among the mages and swordsmen. Depending on your magical or technic affinity they each focused on leveling what they were already good at, Alen, on the other hand, is the weakest of all the summoned had barely leveled up and his stats were still in the 15 deadlocks.
With this he had decided to quit trying to grow stronger knowing he would never catch up to his peers who could already use magic and superhuman technics, Quinn included who seemed to have a rare magical affinity. Right now, Alen was in the royal library looking for a way back to his world.
He had spent the past few days in the library and during this time he had learned to channel his mana although his peers had done this effortlessly and had lots of skills Alen had only managed to unlock one skill so far, he read in a magical book that everyone has mana, but it flows differently for everyone like a code specific for every individual. But Alen had managed to unlock a skill called Replicate.
"Skill: Replicate allows one to infuse his mana with a living organism and copy their mana flow, this also gives the user access to some of the skills of the target. Current skills a user can copy is one skill per day."
Although the skill seemed useless Alen was proud to have learned a unique skill exclusive to him alone now all he had to do was try and level up his skill, but that seemed easier said than done. Just then a timid girl with long pink hair and beautiful green eyes walked into the library and behind her two knights in gold and red armor indicated they were royal knights.
Alen recognized the girl as the youngest princess of the kingdom of Noel, Princess Sakura Edmund. When the guard spotted Alen, they stepped in front of the princess and drew out their weapons, Alen was used to this level of hostility since the day of the banquette word had gotten out that Alen leads a resistance against saving the people of this world, now the nobles and everyone from this world treated him like a criminal.
