Chapter 30 - I refuse to die like this!

"Stand down Sergeant Nao," Livia uttered firmly. "Attacking a co-worker is not acceptable."

"Oh don't give me that crap!" Nao yelled, his body still poised to attack. "Do you even hear what she's saying? She's defending a Xynoin!"

"Again, this isn't a Xynoin. Are you blind or something?" Ava interjected, her tone urgent as she attempted to reason with Nao, "It's Yuichi, a human!".

Mira's expression was one of shock and confusion as she gazed at the sight before her.

Yuichi was lying in the carcass of a Xynoin, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She turned to Ava, hoping for an explanation. "Ava? Please tell me I'm seeing things, but is that really Yuichi lying there, or a Xynoin?" she asked.

Ava's eyes darted around, and she seemed unsure of what to say. "I-I don't know either," she stammered.

Suddenly, her gaze shifted upwards, and she noticed the fear and confusion on everyone's faces. It was clear to her that they viewed Yuichi as a threat.

Ava's initial reaction was one of frustration and anger. She knew that no matter what she said, their minds were already made up.

However, she quickly composed herself and realized that she needed to be more strategic in her approach. She took a deep breath and decided that she was willing to take on anyone who stood in her way.

"It's no use," Ava thought to herself, "Nothing is going to change their minds. They already view Yuichi as a threat.' Her face contorted with fury as she came to a decision and gripped her sword for battle. "Fine!" she exclaimed, 'I'll take them all on if I have to'.

Out of nowhere, Yuichi's body jolted up from the ground, a heavy sigh escaping his lips as he spoke out in frustration. "What the hell Outcast!" he exclaimed, his voice laced with irritation.

Ava's eyes snapped towards him, startled and surprised by his sudden awakening. Her expression quickly shifted to one of wariness as she noticed the soldiers standing in front of her.

As Yuichi turned his attention back towards the soldiers, Ava could see that they too were taken aback by his sudden movement.

In their panic, they began firing their guns indiscriminately, ignoring the people in front of them and the potential danger they were putting them in.

Ava swiftly drew her sword and plunged it into the ground, unleashing a powerful surge of electricity that created a protective force field around Yuichi and her squad. The force field crackled with energy as it repelled the rain of gunfire raining down on them, shielding them from harm.

Ava's eyes blazed with determination as she stood her ground, her muscles tense as she prepared to face whatever came their way. With her sword at the ready, she was ready to defend herself and those under her protection.

"A-Ava?" Yuichi's voice broke through the chaos, "What is happening here?" he asked, his eyes darting around in confusion.

Suddenly, realization dawned on him, "Wait... I am no longer in the hospital," he muttered to himself, "That means... it wasn't a dream!"

As he looked around, Yuichi tried to make sense of his surroundings. The sight of Ava, standing confidently with her sword drawn, and her squad protected by the electric force field, only added to his confusion. It was clear to him that something significant had transpired, and he was desperate for answers.

Ava turned to Yuichi, her expression a mix of wariness and relief as she saw him fully awake and aware of his surroundings. "Listen carefully," She spoke with urgency, "there's no other way to say this, but these people want you dead."

Yuichi's eyes widened with shock and fear as Ava's words sank in. "What?" he asked, his voice trembling with anxiety.

"But don't worry," Ava reassured him, "I promise to protect you. Just stand behind me."

As Ava spoke, Yuichi's gaze fell to the ground as memories flooded his mind. The horrific monster that he had become, the destruction and chaos he had caused. It wasn't a dream, it had all been real.

Suddenly, a voice interrupted his thoughts. "Die you son of a bitch!" Yuichi's eyes shot to the left to see Nao, one of the soldiers, charging towards him with his double sword raised, ready to strike.

Yuichi stumbled backwards, barely avoiding the sharp edges of Nao's sword as it came perilously close to his neck.

His eyes widened in shock and fear as he realized the gravity of the situation. 'No way... I'm going to die,' He thought to himself, his mind racing with thoughts of regret and desperation.

As he looked at the deadly sword poised to strike him down, Yuichi's determination suddenly flared up within him. He refused to accept his fate without a fight. 'Not like this... Damn it,' He muttered to himself as he steadied his stance and took a deep breath.

Turning his gaze back to Nao, Yuichi locked eyes with him, his fury boiling over. "I refuse to die like this!" he yelled, his voice ringing out with defiance.

As the sharp blades of the swords approached his neck, Yuichi felt a strange sensation in his hand. Looking down, he saw a gray, thread-like material sprouting out from his skin, slowly covering the layers of his hand.

As he watched in awe, the threads continued to grow, weaving themselves into a web-like pattern that gradually spread to his arm. Soon, his entire hand and arm were covered in the gray material, and it began to solidify, forming a new layer of skin above his old one.

Yuichi's eyes began to glow with an otherworldly light, and he felt a surge of power coursing through his veins. The dark veins that had been networking from his chest started to spread across his hand and arm, covering it completely.

As the transformation progressed, Yuichi's hand and arm became more angular and his muscles became more defined. His eyes glowed brighter, and his hair stood on end as if charged with electricity.
