Chereads / Inquisitors / Chapter 137 - Around the world

Chapter 137 - Around the world

The entire streets were littered with metal corpses as the two Alderwolves battled the seemingly endless horde of robots that continued to pour out from the sky. With every droid that fell, it became harder, more resistant to their punches. Blake was already using his hollow to slice through the robots, but even that seemed to grow less effective against them.

Klaus was getting tired as well. It felt like hours and his fists were becoming sore. He punched through one, grabbing another and ripped it in half with all his strength. He sighed, grabbing the one behind him and squeezed with all his might until it was nothing but scarp in his hands before letting it drop.

Then, after what seemed like an eternity, the robots stopped.

The two Alderwolves fell on the pile of rubble, exhausted.

"Thought it would never end!" Klaus said.

"Me…me too."

"Still no...luck?"

"No. He's not here, or anywhere for that…matter."

"But he has a licht technique!"

"I know, right?"

The two remained silent for a while. The sounds of sirens could be heard in a distance, echoing across the street.

A loud bang made the two jump to their feet. But their reaction was late by two seconds, as a robot much larger but much faster came running at them, ready to kill.

The robot suddenly eroded, fading of into dust, leaving the two speechless as they stared at each other. A soft whistle made Klaus realize who it was.

"Brother??"

"Yes Klaus." He said, walking up to them, his daughter in hand, "The safe arrival of my daughter without the two of you made me quite concerned."

"Sorry."

Keith stared keenly at Blake and back at Klaus. "Odd. Your licht energy is not blooming."

"Apparently the robot has a licht cancellation technique."

"I always knew there was a technique like that out there in the world. To think it would be in the hands of a robot." He sighed, getting up and walked away. "Oh wait. I forgot."

"Why, something important?"

"Its a message from Alyssa."

"I'll call her after I'm done with this,"

"No, she sent a telepathic message to me. It was very weak."

Klaus frowned. "Explain."

"According to her, someone teleported her away from HQ and trapped her in something, she isn't quite sure. But she's been moved and she needs help escaping."

"Tracking licht technique would take a lot of time, Keith."

"Track her blood."

"That's disgusting, I don't have any."

"Yes you do."

"DAD?" Blake called, standing in front of a store. Klaus walked towards him, with Keith following suite.

The two watched the news being reported from Boston as what appeared as a pillar of blue flame. In the background. Kyler could be seen facing off two other combatants. Never had Blake seen Kyler fight so serious and yet so savage. Before he could take in the scene, it changed to that of another street with someone who looked like Brandon fighting another figure. The scene changed again to the outside of the Inquisition branch where loud bangs and crashes could be heard. The sceneries continued to change as different inquisitors were being attacked all over the globe.

"Odd." Keith said. "This seems random."

Klaus turned around, trying to get in contact with someone. Blake continued to stare at the screen, paying full attention.

"They're just attacking us. There doesn't seem to be some kind of intention."

"True." Keith said. "And its not like there's any form of grudge between us anyway so what gives."

"Hold on calm down." Klaus said suddenly, "What do you mean."

Keith and Blake turned to Klaus, concerned. Klaus listened silently, his face showing confusion.

"Let me get this straight. You're saying that there's been an attack on HQ?...A robot?...Centipedes...Unfortunately I just faced an army myself so yes I do believe you. Its all over the news. Hold on tight. Help is on the way."

Klaus turned to Keith, shaking his head. "They've buried HQ to the ground."

"What?!" Blake exclaimed.

"Then what do we do now. It'll take hours for anyone to get there." Keith said.

"This is bad." Klaus said. "I can't track Alyssa."

"Huh."

"Is she..."

"No. I'd have sensed it. I can't find her. I can't even give a rough estimate. She's gone."
