Chereads / Inquisitors / Chapter 132 - Idle Banter

Chapter 132 - Idle Banter

"I've got some wine and some spirits. Which do you want?" Diego said.

"Neither. I'm not a beer person." Dr. Vott replied politely

"Pity." Diego said as he poured himself a glass. He returned to his seat, taking a sip of his glass before setting it down. The sounds of battle could be heard but it was muffled by the several layers of wood and stone.

"I wanted to see you before I left, but work had to come first."

"I understand. It has been ages. You look great."

"No offence, but you look worse."

"Working here does that to you. And, taking on a sin too."

"I couldn't agree more."

"How's the red head boy."

"He's good, actually. His attitude hasn't really changed much but he's good."

"Then, may I ask, what brings you here?"

"I came to give my thanks."

"I may be referred to as one of the weakest Primes of the inquisition, but I do have my moments. One of them is not being a fool."

"That is vey true."

"Attacking out of the blue, like that, not something that I'd fancy you doing but I'd assume your trying to replace us."

Dr. Vott smiled. "Among other things."

"Only question is… why now?"

"I don't understand."

Diego finished his glass, relaxing in his seat. "The aftermath of the 2nd daemon incident eight years ago was the point were the inquisition was at its weakest. You could have easily wiped the floor with us."

"Let's just say, we were also impacted during that period."

"Oh. Okay. So now?"

"You really have no idea why I came here the last time do I?"

"Why?"

"Did Martha and Kyler not inform you that when they found the half-breed Rebeccah Stone, Sarah Stone was already there."

"Honestly, neither of them want to talk about that day and I didn't want to haunt them."

"Oh. My bad. Anyway, it was more or less a trade. For the information on Sarah's licht technique, I made her give me data on every single inquisitor; the new and the old, alive and deceased, present and MIA."

"Not her sister's location."

"I'm a doctor, Diego, I have a heart."

"Aww."

"The 3rd Daemon Incident happened, hence the deadline of our plans needed to be moved forward."

"But you also attacked Prime Alyssa and our leader."

"We never attacked Prime Alyssa. We only closed the portals. It was Edgar we trapped in, but that was the point. Only Xenon and the boss know about the reason though, and Xenon was sent after Klaus Alderwolf."

"You guys are really thorough aren't you."

"Thanks."

"So, why then haven't you attacked me yet."

"Because it'll be a hassle."

"Really. I am the weakest."

"Being strong has nothing to do with being dangerous."

"Jahn Vu said that. How did you know?"

"A friend said it to me the first time we met. Anyway, my hollow and your rei have basically the same effect, damage is returned back to the attacker."

"Ah."

"Indeed."

Diego leaned forward. "Speaking of hollows, what's the deal with them. They seem so mysterious yet its hard to come by."

"That's because there are only two of them."

"That's odd."

"Surprising, I know. There are only two of them. There are several vessels for harnessing them, but there are only two. One is in the hands of our leader, The First. The other is with Spen Nikolai. Interestingly it originally belonged to his mother, an inquisitor."

"Then were from the others."

"Blake currently has a hollow after his clash with Spen. Hollows have branches, and each branch is an entire ability on its own. When the user of a main hollow gifts it to others with a vessel, it would seem like a new hollow but its just an offshoot."

"Interesting. But Blake's own is not a full branch then."

Dr. Vott nodded. "Just residual."

"Interesting."
