Chapter 118 - Lost Girl No More

"No! No! No!!" Claire whined, "For the last time Dean, stop getting blood on me!"

Dean looked at her with a blank expression on his face. Looking down, he splashed more black blood on her.

"DEAN!"

Sarah walked behind them, hugging herself as she walked in her own world of silence. Her thoughts had become louder in her head, drifting off to many things she held dear. Zhao Fan and her carefree yet childlike behaviour. Martha with her all too serious demeanor. Rachel, though she barely interacted with her, crossed her mind a couple of times. Shiro...well...Brandon too. And then she remembered Blake.

Her arm tightened around her arms

Since that day, she had not spoken to Blake. And he had not been around much of the time either. A part of her wanted to hold it against him for the rest of his life. It wasn't his decision to make to kill her sister. She was still alive and she was still inside that monster. But the more that part of her spoke, the more she realized that Blake was right. He had done everything he could to give her sister a chance. Killing her was only his last option, but it would have ultimately have been her last option as well. Whether she decided to run away to the ends of the earth, or fight off the Shield, she would still have to make that call.

"Sarah!" Dean called again

"Oh wow!" Claire grumbled, "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. Did you forget that you burst her eardrums? She can't hear you."

"Oh." Dean realized. "My bad."

"Huh?! That's all you're going to say?"

"Duh. What do you want me to do? Write a two page apology letter on why I had to burst her eardrums?"

"Yeah?"

"Too much work."

"Ughh."

"So... are you really quitting?"

"Did I stutter?" Claire snapped, "I meant what I said. I can't handle this crap anymore. The pays good but it is NOT worth it. I'll work at some fast food joint or something like that."

"Yeah, a solid 9 to 5 job will get you far no doubt."

Claire kicked him in the back.

"Are you still going to stay?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Daemon that killed Lucia died a long time ago."

"Yeah. I killed it myself." Dean said, "But I guess now, it feels more of an excuse than a reason."

"And knowing that you still want to stay."

"Got no one left for me out there. So, yeah. Why not."

Sarah took a deep breath. Her sister had been the only thing tying her to the Inquisition, but now she had to accept that she was gone and move on. She could never leave; she had literally grown up with them. She had shared their joy, their anger and their sorrow. She had seen them being made and unmade; from the scared to courageous, from the ones that cursed their fate to the ones that accepted it and moved forward. Even the ones that came to start over. This was her family. This was the family she was going to die for.
