His sword wasn't there, like it had disappeared. Had he merged with it? That was unlikely. It wasn't a rei. It would have known. It also didn't feel like he was using any licht technique. So how had he cut his arm.
"You know, I've fought a sin before. Very strong one too. Gave me a tough time. I mean, sure, that was seven, eight years ago but I remember it as clear as day. Even if that sin was the one I fought right now, I'd still be in a bit of a pinch." Edgar sighed. "You are not Pride. The one watching is. Go call him, right now."
[I am Pride.]
"Ha." Edgar laughed. "Prove it."
Aside from the vestorer, a sin had a unique ability pertaining to their sin or sometimes, personality. A plus for rising above the thousands of daemon one could say. Unlike the vestorer which destroyed everything in its path, this unique ability did not. Glaube it was called. The White City's own was to create multiple clones of itself, a representation of its never ending wrath. Lust was to penetrate the mind and turn desires into nightmares, a formidable weapon in its arsenal, that is if it had the chance. Pride had the unique ability to control gravity.
[Glaube: Down force]
Edgar immediately went down on one knee as an enormous weight fell upon his shoulders. the ground beneath him cracked as blood dripped down from his nose and ears.
[Why did you fall for me?] Pride laughed. [What was that about having to prove...]
The shot penetrated through the daemon's chest, forcing him down. The weight on Edgar was released, allowing him to get up.
"The ability to manipulate the weight of an object. That's cool, especially for someone who loves to trample on others. Problem is, weight is applied to everything, including licht technique. I only had to channel it. You compressed it for me."
[A simple hole will not stop...]
A slash mark appeared on the daemon's body.
"Linear scaling. The ability to manipulate licht energy so fast that it travels like a blade rather than a shot. Easy but tricky."
[Damn you...] Another slash, taking out two of his three eyes.
"I'm not done talking." Edgar groaned, "Geez, can't you get it the first time?" Edgar sighed. "I tried telling you to call your boss, but you refused. Told you how weak you were, yet you still held on. That ain't pride kid. That's foolishness. Foolishness in all its shade. Pride is like confidence. Just a bit shitty. I am Pride. You...you're just trash."
[Bastard.]
The daemon tried to use his ability on Edgar only to start to bleed from its mouth. It looked down, shocked at the sight of the blade embedded in his guts.
"Like my blade? I like it to, its like having a car. No matter how many you have, there's that one that will always be in heart." Edgar noticed the daemon's expression and laughed. "Sorry, sorry. I forgot who I was talking to. My bad." Edgar approached the daemon, pulling out the sword.
"Sad, huh? You're not even lying on the floor, not even crushed or battered or broken, yet you're standing there helpless. And you have the guts to call yourself Pride."
A vein popped on the daemons head. The daemon immediately pointed down and immediately the ground beneath Edgar fell swiftly. The daemon charged at the falling Edgar, wrapping his arm in his vestorer, ready to strike.
"Linear Scaling."
The daemon backed away immediately but it was too late, its left leg sliced clean of. The daemon retreated to another block, charging up a vestorer. It fired at Edgar but Edgar didn't bother dodging. The blast merely faded around him.
"Confused?" Edgar said, appearing behind the sin. Pride turned around sharply. "Linear scaling is a simple licht technique. But I tweaked it a little. Combining it with my one licht technique to strike. Look again, kid. I didn't cut of your leg. I melted it clean off."
The inquisitor wasn't lying. It had been melted off. The wound had already been sealed shut. Pride grunted, turning to Edgar.
[So what now?]
"Now? Well, I kill you. This venture has just been a waste of time, so I'm kinda pissed. Nonetheless, you have options. I killed just slice you into pieces. Or use my sword. Or even rip of your head. But I want to show your boss my licht technique."
[You act as if you could kill me. You're arrogance knows no bounds.]
Edgar raised his index finger up, pointing up to the sky. The daemon watched in confusion as nothing seemed to happen
"The Lionharte family have had a bunch of licht techniques, but lately, this one seems to be the one that just sticks. It disgust us though, so we don't often use it. Besides, from what Kael says, my body can't handle. Said something about my licht count being low but...what the hell."
[I don't care.]
"Not caring? And you call that pride? Pride is arrogance. True. But that arrogance is for everything else. Not everything that doesn't concern you. I'll say this before you die. You. Are. Not. Pride."
The entire ground began to freeze up and the air became cold. Even the blood flowing through the sin's veins had frozen up, solidifying him in his place. Ice? Pride grit his teeth in pain as it struggled to fly away. Then he turned, realizing that the ice had no traces of licht energy. It was just an after effect of his technique's activation.
"Primodial Flame;" Edgar said with a smile on his face, opening up his palm. "Sigh of Helios."
The sin stood defenseless as the heatwave rushed at him, melting him away, leaving everything but his core. Edgar caught the core before it hit the ground, tossing it up and crushing it with his palms.
"I am Pride."
Damien and Kaien immediately appeared, with the latter on Edgar's shoulders. "Yay!" He squealed, "That was fun."
"It was?" Edgar asked. "Nice to be you."
"Grand Prime Edgar, we must leave this place immediately. The others await us."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Edgar said. He turned around, one last time, his gaze peering into the far off distance. He knew it in his gut. The Pride he'd killed was just a clown. A child with new found power told to go and play pretend. The real deal was there. Watching. Smiling. As if satisfied by his display. But whoever it was, the thought of fighting him made Edgar excited.
But also, for the first time, since he'd become Grand Prime, Edgar felt fear.
