Boredom. It really annoyed the sin of Greed. Never in his life did he like to experience it. When in his own world, he sparred amongst his fellow daemon, mostly Gluttony, wanting to at least catch his eye. But he never did, making each fight as tiring as it was worthwhile. Here on earth, expecting to be less bored on to be disappointed. Maybe he shouldn't have taken out the first guy after all.
A rustle in the bushes behind made him turn, that as well as the large source of licht energy. It turned to face it, letting out a sigh of disappointment.
[Ugh. You.]
"Why the long face?" Blake asked.
[I thought I broke your arm?]
"It healed."
[Ha.] Avarice laughed, looking at his blood red hands. [New trick I see. Didn't take you for a brawler.]
"I'm an all-rounder." Blake said raising his hands.
[Sure.] The daemon raised his as well, [I just hope that this would be fun.]
Before
Jacquez was in a trance, in a place he always dreamed of but never liked it. It had a unique name given to it by others who felt the distinction would make it feel any better. A nightmare.
He was however brought back to reality, the annoying but altogether familiar white hair and scarlet eyes.
"You're alive." Blake said.
"Y...you sound disappointed." Jacquez said, groaning as he tried to stand up. Blake sat beside him, brandishing his dagger.
"Don't bother. It broke a lot of your bones. I checked."
"How kind of you."
"Would it kill you to be nice once in a while."
"Clearly it hasn't."
Blake sighed.
"By the way, I thought he broke your arm." Jacquez asked.
"Blood manipulation."
"Ah. I see. Never mentioned it before."
"Never mentioned that you could see in the dark either."
"Touché."
"The daemon is going after Zhao Fan. Hopefully she's as far away as possible with Ricardo."
"So Ricardo is still alive."
Blake hesitated before answering. "I don't know. But we can't think about that right now. If we don't take care of this daemon, we'd all die."
"He didn't kill me before."
"Because Zhao Fan is that far away." Blake said. "Seems odd, but his objective is to kill all of us. Treating us as mere game and not targets. So I say we turn the tables round.
"How so?"
Blake closed his eyes, placing a hand on Jacquez's chest. Instantly, Jacquez felt rejuvenated, refreshed.
"I've healed your soul, not your body though. Your injuries are still present, but your lifeforce is renewed. Your licht energy is also greater than before."
Jacquez checked. Blake wasn't kidding. His licht energy had risen considerably. This buff was more than Valerie's, no conditions attached. A true fright.
"Doing this, I guess you've got a plan."
"I do." Blake said, standing up. "How would you like to be the star of today's episode, Jacquez Ivez?"
"Well,' Jacquez smiled, "fame wasn't something I admired, but sure.
Now...
Blood manipulation was not something Blake fancied. It was messy, and its scent lingered. Ironic, coming from someone who lived in a family that literally controlled blood. Ah well.
Blake attacked first, throwing a punch a the daemon. The daemon blocked, returning the blow only for it to be blocked by Blake. Drawing back his arm, Blake struck the daemon in the chest and shoulder, stepping to the right and thrusting his arm at the daemon's back. The daemon twisted its body rapidly, catching the blow and pulling him towards it. Blood spikes immediately emerged from the Blake's caught hand, hooking them daemon. Gaining the upper hand in the tug of war, Blake pulled the daemon closer and punched it in the gut. Blake let go, jumping back, his fist still raised. The daemon staggered backwards, its mouth drawn in a smile as it licked its lips.
[Impressive.] The daemon said, [But still not enough.]
The daemon rushed forward, close to where Blake stood and threw its fist at him. Blake dodged, falling into the daemon's trap as it charged up a miniature vestorer and fired it at Blake's face. Rather than dodging, Blake went in, headbutting the daemon and kicking him back.
[Ha.]
Blake felt the blood trickle down his face. Blake touched his face, realizing that he'd been cut. Or rather partly bitten. Reinforcing his fist with more blood, Blake rushed at the daemon, jumping in the air and slamming the ground, the shockwave forcing the daemon into the air. Blake charged at the daemon landing a blow on the daemon and punching it to the ground, evading three vestorer shots that were aimed for his head. Blake reached for a tree branch, lifting himself up onto the tree and charged up a ball of energy. The red beam landed on the daemon's shoulder but it only moved a step back. The daemon looked briefly at the place he'd been shot. Odd. It was like the blond guy's shot, mixed with blood. And it stung. However, the daemon should have paid more attention to Blake. With strings attached to the trees far behind the sin of Greed, Blake propelled himself towards the daemon, kicking him back. Backflipping in the air, Blake landed and drew out his dagger. Blake concentrated, letting the blood flow from his hands to the dagger until it was a short sword. Charging up a crimson shade of a null, Blake fired at the daemon. The daemon was blown away by the blast, tumbling to his feet. Raising his hand, he charged up a vestorer and fired it at Blake. Blake naturally dodged but fell into the daemon's trap as a large blue hologram-like hand slammed him into a nearby trees. Blake stood to his feet only for one to slam him from above. Blake managed to hold it up with reinforced blood. It wasn't looking good. His body was giving in.
The daemon, however, was not done, getting up close to Blake as it charged up a vestorer. Blake could see from the corner of his eyes two more of his hands coming from both sides. Smiling, Blake let go as he was pulled backwards, the vestorer hitting the blue hands. Blake landed right beside Zhao Fan, the latter who removed the chains off Blake.
"Been a while." She said with a smile.
"Yeah." Blake smiled back.
