Port Lagos, Nigeria.
"What's the flare for?" Jake asked the shield agent. "We've already got bigger things on our hands."
"Not my fault," the shield agent said, "A bunch of guys got onboard on a ship and are sailing away, then a distress signal comes saying they're under attack."
"How's that our problem?" Shino asked, "They got into the problem themselves, not us."
"Yeah, sure. I get that. But all of them are rich and one of them happens to be on the UN."
"For crying out loud."
"I don't see the problem here." Rachel said.
"Basically, if we don't handle the problem, the blame is going to go on them. Now that they've told us, we get a fair share of the blame." James Frimpong said
"Yeah, so?"
"Unfortunately, the UN doesn't care whether it was a shield agent or an inquisitor, only that they were killed." Frank said, standing beside Rachel drenched in daemon blood. Rachel and James stared at him in fright. "What?" He asked.
"Nothing, nothing." Rachel said, turning away. "So we don't have a choice, why not send one guy?"
"I agree," Brandon said, joining in.
"Goodness...you guys should stop doing that!" James exclaimed.
"Quality and Quantity basically." Frank replied
"What?
"Quality and Quantity. The kind of daemon we're dealing with and how many they are. Unless you send a prime or an aide, you can't cover for these factors. Plus, a high priority on saving civilians is another issue."
"Great."
"We just have to wait for Jake's decision."
"Hope he says no." Rachel said.
"Okay guys, we are going in." Jake called.
"Dammit!" Rachel said, stomping her foot.
"Won't it affect our mission?" Frank asked, "We splitting up would affect our plans."
"Yes, I'm aware." Jake replied, "That's why I'm sending three of you there. Brandon, Rachel and James."
"No!!" Rachel groaned.
"Good luck."
"How are we going to get there?" Brandon asked.
"Do you like flying?" Jake asked.
"What?"
Why had she listened to him? The question rang through her mind as she hid behind the door, peering through the door. The daemon on board the ship were bigger than she had imagined. She had only seen them on TV, and it was once that she saw a corpse of a daemon dissipating. Well, it was true what they say; you don't know the full picture until you see it for yourself. If only she hadn't listened. Oh, it would be safer, oh the man was rich and therefore protected. They only gave the people going to the shelters the weak soldiers. The so called strong Shield agents were all sprawled on the floors, lifeless.
One daemon turned in her direction. Her heart skipped a beat as she slowly observed the daemon approach her hiding place. Slowly, one step at a time, with each step representing beat of her heart. Tears flowed down her eyes as she began to sweat profusely. It stopped at the door, raising its hand ready to break open the door and devour her...only to be kicked in the face and sent flying across the deck.
Brandon landed on the deck, a smile on his face. The other six daemon turned to him, charging at him with full speed. Rather than focusing on them, Brandon dashed at the daemon he had kicked. One of the six jumped at him, receiving a kick to the chest. Rachel proceeded to swipe at the air in front of her, unleashing a wave of fire at the daemon and forcing them to be back. James came from behind and stabbed one daemon in the chest with his naginata. He slashed towards the left, through the other two daemon.
Brandon slid under daemon's legs, taking out his nunchaku and hitting it in the groin, forcing it to its knees and slamming his weapon into his face. The daemon got up and charged again, raising it hand to claw at him. Brandon slammed his nunchaku into his raised arm and immediately, the daemon was blown of deck and into the sea.
"That took you long enough!" Rachel said, finishing of a daemon by driving a foot into the daemon's chest.
"Yeah, whatever. What now James?"
The door to the lower cabins opened, revealing a woman, followed by a few men. One man pushed his way through the small crowd and approached the inquisitor.
"Thank goodness. Now I'll be able to go safely to the UN capital." He said.
"Um...that's not what's going to happen." James replied, not looking at the UN official.
"Excuse me?"
"He said no." Rachel said, obviously disgusted.
"And what if we die?" The man asked, "Are you going to take responsibility?"
"Let me get one thing straight. You are not supposed to be on a ship, you are supposed to be in the shelters. All of you. You're reckless actions have led to the deaths of shield officers obeying your orders. If word gets out about this, be sure of a demotion."
"Coming from someone who refuses to protect a UN Official."
James struck the deck floor with his naginata, rattling the entire floor. "I don't think you get it, do you? We are inquisitors, not protectors. You're presence is a nuisance and an obstacle to us fully performing our duties. Your captain will turn this ship around so that we can go kill some daemon as our leaders have agreed on. So PISS OFF."
"Damn, he just told him to piss off." Brandon said.
"I know, right?" Rachel replied.
The man grunted and walked away.
"My superiors will hear about this."
"Oh they will." James said, "They will."
Canberra, Australia
"Ughh...Gross!" Claire screamed, disgusted as the daemon blood splattered all over her. "Watch it Dean!!"
"Whatever." Dean said, tossing the daemon corpse aside like a ragdoll, "You look prettier this way."
"Screw you., Dean, Screw You!!" Claire said, rolling her eyes, "I wish I was with Jake and Shino. They understood me better."
"Thought you didn't like them."
"I like them better than I like you. You're just scum."
"Scum, huh? Well that one hurts." Dean said, sitting cross legged beside her, "Sorry, but um...I don't work well with teams."
"Apology not accepted."
"Didn't expect you to." Dean said, "But say, looking at those daemon, I wouldn't want to be killed by her if I was one of 'em."
The daemon at Sarah's feet writhed and trembled in pain as the white spots continues to spread all over their bodies. When it covered their entire body, their chest burst open, exploding their core and spraying black blood all over.
Sarah turned to look at Dean, wiping the blood of her face with the back of her hand. "Where to next?"
Claire and Dean shuddered.
