As a 14 year old, what is more fun than doing investigation work? Well, it's actually being a certified detective.

How do I do this work? Well, when I was 9. I practiced being one. Well, more like forced to be one. This also required me to become skillful with martial arts, weapons, and human emotions. In school, I was facing grown men and women and came out on top of my class... except for martial arts, I couldn't really stop someone 3 times bigger than me back then. Now I can, but still... Anyways, around the time I graduated, I was 11, doing heinous tasks... that are like saving cats. But my parents put me back into school. Except, it was a regular school this time.

I do have a little secret to do this work more effectively. Abilities. That is what I call it. Some people call it superpowers, magic, etc... 100 years ago. An asteroid dropped on earth. Although hitting only into the water. A week later, a criminal was laying waste to a town, and that suspect was seen using fire on his hands to destroy it. With that being said, governments started seeking out more people with abilities. Taking a little over time, almost everybody on the planet has powers. Schools were newly built, and so was identity. When you enter the age of 5, you go to the doctor to see what your ability is.

My ability is ranked 2/5 (Special 5), with 1 being the lowest. And 5 being the highest.

The ability I have is ¨Omnidirectional sensing.¨ I'm a sensor thanks to sensors not being as powerful as other abilities, we are ranked differently. We are assessed on how versatile our powers are for our bodies. There is only a fraction of people that are sensors. I am the fifth recorded sensor. Though for that special rank to work, we need to be assessed correctly, which is why I was put into a detective school. It was either that or the magical special operation.

My mom is the other recorded sensor. She can sense magic in the air vividly. She constructs magic tools/weapons. She is also the developer of the 5 essences of magic. Which proves that humans can learn different magic from the ones they are born with.

My dad is quite normal, but his ability is parallel thinking. He can think in two different ways. I got a mixture of my dad's and my mom's abilities.

Now, why do I keep my ability a secret? Well, that is because my investigation work goes more smoothly. And I don't know how to stop my investigation work since I am addicted.

Don't get me wrong I do love this job. I like it a lot- but it drives me insane, especially since I do my work mainly in school. Though I do work outside of school, it's just for a small company. Though I do get to keep 90% of my earnings when I accept requests there.

Along with this job, is getting annoyed and being hated. Despite the amount of scrutiny that comes with my job, I do it pretty well. The job does come with many problems, such as dealing with couples.

For example, this girl asked me to help her catch her boyfriend cheating. I spent the next month befriending the boy and actively figuring out what he does after school. That was a waste of my time. Lo and behold. He wasn't cheating but instead trying to buy her a gift. I took 250 dollars from them both and called it a day.

There's also the problem with finding people's lost things, and on the topic of lost items. That's what I'm doing right now.

¨Angelia, you said the last time you saw your phone was 2 days ago, right?" This is Angelia. One of my friends since middle school, though since we got into high school, we haven't talked much.

¨Uh, yes. I think someone stole it.¨

Asking a few more questions, like which class she was in when she lost it, the color of the phone, and other minute details. I began my investigation.

Writing in my notepad, I take notice of each person that is vividly acting weird. Including Angelia's boyfriend Mason.

Currently, we got. ¨Warden, Taylor, Mason, and Frank.¨

Walking to Taylor first, ¨Hey Tay, I got a question.¨

Stopping what she was doing, she turned to me. Giving me a kind stare, ¨Hi Jai, having a wonderful day?¨

¨Just troublesome like usually.¨ Folding my arms, I move by her and get to the point. ¨Quick question, you know Angelia lost her phone?¨

Looking at her with an innocent smile, I began probing her emotions. Smiling back at me, the feeling I get from her is that she is concerned about something.

¨No, but can I ask you for your help? It is about Ash.¨

Shaking my head. ¨Well, that is my job.¨ Telling her to wait, I begin running to find Warden this time.

Running in the hallway, a girl named Katie gets in front of me.

¨Jai, can you help me? I need some advice.¨

Taking a minute to help her, I noticed all 3 suspects together. ¨Can you give me a minute Katie?¨ Disengaging from her, I pursue all 3 of them. Standing there on their phone, I take action before they notice me. Activating my magic, I began to focus on Reading their minds.

Mason: *Hopefully, I get a text back soon.*

Warden: *This phone is useless.*

Frank: *This phone will not work.*

Getting a grasp of what's going on with them.

I began to move. ¨Hey Mason, can you come with me?¨

¨Uh, sure.¨ Nodding at me, Mason and I walk down the hallway getting away from Warden and Frank.

¨Give me the phone.¨

Handing me the phone, Mason stares at my every move.

¨You mind if I call Angelia?¨

Questioning, he looks at me wearily. It makes sense since I never really talked to Angelia ever. He is her boyfriend. But he does know my job, so maybe that is why he is becoming less worried.

¨Call her.¨

Nodding, I called the phone number. Running straight back to where Warden and Frank are at. I notice Frank's phone ringing along with the name. ¨Love.¨

¨Frank, did you get a girlfriend recently?¨ Appearing behind him, he starts panicking.

¨Uh- um- Yes?¨ Smiling at his lie.

¨That is crazy.¨ Saying that. I go straight for the phone. Trying to dodge my movement, "I get to use a little force, huh?¨ Saying this, I grab his arm and flip him over. Reaching for the phone on the floor, I begin to leave.

¨See yall two later.¨ Standing there stunned, Warden tries to say something.

Leaving Warden to his mumbling self, I go find Angelia.

Getting to the south side of the school, I find Angelia along with Taylor.

¨Angelia.¨

Looking at me, I pull out her phone. ¨I got it.¨ Walking up to me, she hugs me and then gives me my requested money. ¨60 dollars, here you go.¨ Taking the money, I put it in my wallet.

¨Thanks for the business. Now, Tay, you said you needed me to check on Ash?¨

¨Yes, how much do I owe you for this?" Reaching for her purse, I stopped her.

¨Ash used to be my friend too. I do this one for free.¨

Both looked at me puzzlingly. The rumors they heard of me were crazy. They think I am some money demon.

¨Stop looking at me weirdly. Ash and I have a long history. Thanks for telling me about her strangeness lately."

Finishing the conversation with that. I got one more thing to deal with, and that is Katie. ¨My work is never done.¨ Sighing to myself, I began to look for Katie.

Finding Katie, I see her at the front of the school along with a girl named Meiya, who I greatly hate. ¨Katie, you still need help?" Looking up at me, Katie is crying. Meiya also looks at me. ¨She doesn't need help from a 2nd rank.¨ Irked off by her comment.¨Well, Meiya, you're not any better?"

Walking up to me, she looks into my eyes angrily. ¨Your mom is also quite the loser, is she not?¨ Laughing at her comment, I know she is baiting me. But I take the bait, sending a quick kick to her temple. She dodges and then starts using her power.

Using my power, I intercept her magic. Interrupting her magic waves. Punching her in the face. She blocks it with her arm. Extending her arm, she tries to grab me. ¨Well, it seems like your physical attribution is not working.¨ Dodging every attack she does, I sweep her leg.

Falling down thanks to my kick, I finish it off by trying to punch her while she is on the ground. Throwing the punch, I feel my body become super light. ¨STOP FIGHTING!¨ All of a sudden. I was thrown back into a tree.

Getting up on my feet, I see Katie crying. ¨I cannot control my powers. This is the fourth time... the fourth time someone got hurt by me.¨ Hearing her break down. I pull Meiya back up, looking at her bleeding. I take off my hoodie to cover her wound. Looking at me with no injuries she gets annoyed. ¨You are super resilient for someone who is a sensor. Got away with that with no injuries.¨

Ignoring Meiya, I walk to Katie. Pulling her into a hug I reassure her. ¨Nothing is wrong with your powers.¨ Getting her to stop crying, I check my phone. Seeing no cracks, I get up fully.

¨Now look, Katie. You are loved more than you know. Look at Meiya.¨ Looking at Meiya, Katie smiles.

¨Well, I am going."

Leaving them two together, I go home after some of my classes.

Walking through the front door, My mom stops me. ¨Welcome back!¨ Hugging me, she kisses me on the cheek.¨How was your day, baby?¨

¨It was a hectic day- oh yeah, I got a request today at school. So I am not going to the business.¨

¨You are getting to many request now, you barley spend time at home.¨

¨Maybe I should take a break, these jobs are too much for a 14 year old, I must say."

¨I was 12 when I developed the 5 essences of magic, you're just being lazy. But if you do take a break, spend it with me and your dad.¨

Looking at my mom, stupefied. I ¨Well, I perfected your theory and made it a reality at age 8, so I am better. And of course my time is going to be spent with you two.¨

Hugging my mom again, she smiles and kisses me one more time. Letting me go, I go upstairs.

Taking off my backpack, I get to work on almost everything I put off this past week and month. Even though I have my dream job- I still need a license.

After finishing my classwork, I shower, eat dinner and go to bed.
