The Game of Cleaning
Or
(Did this guy just trick us into cleaning his whole fucking mansion for free?)
And just like that the pair were dressed proper once again. They quickly made their way through the manor and right to the dining room where everyone was in the middle of breakfast. They were able to slip in without much notice, but Barric kept smiling and winking at Layla.
Once they had gotten their breakfast and taken their seats, the entire dining room sat in silence as everyone ate. Apparently the effects of yesterday's game was felt by more than just Layla, and some of them were still exhausted.
After a bit, once everyone was seemingly close to done, Momo the goblin maid collected Master Rauly's plates. The older man leaned forward and laced his fingers before resting his chin on his hands. He surveyed everyone at the long table for a moment before speaking.
"Good morning everyone! Maids. Masters," the Master spoke.
"Good morning sir!" all of the manor maids said at once.
"Good morning sir," all of the guest, maids and Masters said, some wearily, some more excited than others.
"I trust you all had fun yesterday?" he joked.
His joke landed like a flightless bird off a cliff as he was met with only tired gazes.
"I did!" Quinn spoke up.
Everyone shifted their eyes to the cat girl, suddenly making her feel quite shy.
"Perhaps a bit too much fun!" the Master joked, only making Quinn all the more red in the face. "But that's quite alright of course! That's why we're all here! So… everyone ready for today's game?" Master Rauly asked.
The dining room was silent for a moment before Hana stood up and slammed her huge fist against the table.
"Hell yea! We will best whatever ridiculous game you throw at us next!" she proclaimed, her voice almost shaking the room.
"Ha! I like you demon! Hana was it? I'm just glad people are having fun with my game!" Master Rauly laughed.
Akaihana seemed confused at the Master of the house's reaction, but she took her seat again still.
"Anyway," Master Rauly continued. "Today's game is once again pretty self explanatory. The game of cleaning!" he announced.
All of the guest Maids and Master glazed back and forth at each other, and the lack of excitement in the air was noticeable.
"Just like last time, the rules are pretty simple. You will all break into your Maid and Master pairs and move throughout the manor, cleaning rooms. The team that cleans the most rooms by dinner, wins. One of my maids will accompany you to keep score. Obviously the team that cleans the least amount of rooms will be eliminated. Though I do have a warning. Sorry I forgot to mention the Sqenis guy trap last time by the way."
"It's all good!" Quinn spoke up before anyone else in the room could, though after his little comment, everyone else decided to keep theirs to themselves.
"Anyways, my warning. This manor as you can see is quite old. It holds many secrets. So please do be careful while cleaning. My maids are just with you to keep score, they will only step in to help you if your lives are in danger. But as far as I'm aware, there is nothing in this manor that can kill you... I'm pretty sure," the Master said, seemingly not sure of his own claim.
Hana looked to her Master with a raised eyebrow.
"Well there's definitely not anything in here that can kill me," she said, elbowing Barric. The King grinned.
"I know that's right," he whispered back.
