Amael's voice turned colder again, though it retained its quiet intensity. "I didn't stop the war because of bias, as some of you foolishly assumed. I stopped it because it was destroying everything—us included. And make no mistake, if we had continued, there would have been nothing left to rule. Not for me, not for you, not for anyone."
He paused, letting his words sink in, before delivering the final blow. "I ended the war because I chose to believe that we could be better than this. That you could be better than this. And if I was wrong…" His eyes gleamed, a dangerous edge returning to his voice. "Then you have no place in the world I am building."
The hall fell silent once more, but this time, the silence was different. It wasn't oppressive or fearful—it was reflective, almost reverent. The demons, for all their pride and power, were forced to confront a truth they had long ignored.
