Chapter 25 - Unexpected Visitors

Alternative Title: Heh, that narcissistic half-elf can no longer claim to be the most handsome! :)

____ ___ _

It has been a week since Mother returned.

She has been spending most of her time with us and Grandma Helene. They discuss the current situation from time to time. Which keeps me updated about everything too.

And I can say one thing about the current situation. No two words: No Change.

It is as always. The war is still ongoing with no signs of stopping. Each side has no intention of backing down.

Knock. Knock.

Suddenly the door was knocked. After Mother gave permission, a maid walked in.

"You may speak." Mother spoke.

"My Lady, there is a group of people who came seeking Lady Helene." The maid explained. "They are waiting for you in the Guest Room."

"A group of people?" Grandma Helene muttered. Then she and Mother exchanged glances.

"Ok, let's go then." Grandma Helene spoke standing up. "It is not nice to make the guests wait for us."

Then we moved toward the guest room. Although Mother tried to leave, I kindly expressed that I wanted to go as well.

They couldn't say no after seeing my smile of course.

I'm also interested in who those people might be.

The Guest Room.

As soon as we entered I spotted four figures sitting on a cozy sofa. What surprised me was that they were all females and wearing the same kind of uniforms.

Ah! I recognize that! It's that famous organization!

"Oh, I didn't expect I would see an old friend visiting me." Grandma Helene spoke with a faint smile, waking me up from my thoughts.

"Me neither." An enchanting female voice sounded.

The voice belonged to a beautiful woman in her early thirties, emanating a tranquil and peaceful aura that seemed to calm everyone in her presence. Her long hair, as white as freshly fallen snow, cascaded down her back, framing her mesmerizing emerald eyes.

But one of her other features made her stand out the most in this room.

It was her slightly pointy ears. Yeah, she was an elf. A nature elf I think.

Then the elf lady rose from her seat and gracefully approached Grandma Helene, their eyes filled with relief and affection.

"I'm glad you are safe," she whispered.

"You too," Grandma Helene replied, her voice filled with genuine warmth

Then they shared a friendly hug with each other with a relieved smile on their faces.

I remember this woman now! She is Grandma's closest friend and comrade. What was her name again?

Ergh... My memory... I know her very well...

"It is great to see you, Aunty Vera." Mother spoke and then it clicked in my mind.

Vera! Her name is Vera, Vera Evergreen!

"How have you been?"

Since I was in Mom's hands and we were standing, I couldn't see her expression clearly, but from the tone of her voice, I could conclude my mother knew this woman.

"Oh, Nazia! Look how much you have grown up!" Lady Vera spoke to Mom with a delighted face.

Her gaze shifted downward, and her eyes settled on me. A wide smile spread across her face, leaving me momentarily stunned.

"Oh my! Is this your new baby?" she exclaimed, unable to contain her excitement.

"Yes, his name is Samiel. Samiel Kaius," Mother replied, her voice gentle and proud.

"He is so cute! And he looks just like you!" Lady Vera cooed as she gently squeezed my cheeks.

Honestly...

Don't do that!

It's embarrassing!

Gosh, I don't understand these people at all. Why do they have to squeeze me whenever they see me?!

Although it isn't hurting. Wait! It's...

Yet, as her touch enveloped me, I couldn't deny the comfort and relaxation it brought. It was an unfamiliar sensation, one that I had never experienced before.

"Nya!" A giggle escaped my lips involuntarily.

"Ah, so cute!" Lady Vera exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with joy.

"Come on, leave my grandson alone," Grandma Helene finally intervened, positioning herself between us.

"Ok, ok. I'm not going to take him away from you." Lady Vera smiled as she spoke. I noticed her ears slightly twitching though. "But I'm really envious of you."

"Heh, envious?" Grandma Helene scoffed at her close friend. "I heard you had a grandson too two months ago if I'm not mistaken?"

"Ah, now that you mentioned I really did!" Lady Vera exclaimed once more. "It's just that I haven't visited my daughter yet."

"Ah, right. She is in the Velaria Kingdom." Grandma Helene nodded with a thoughtful look. "It's really far from your place."

"Yeah. Unfortunately, my daughter is really far." Lady Vera nodded with a sad smile. However, it vanished the next second. "But I'm itching to see my grandson! I bet he will be as cute as this little baby."

"Hehe, you bet! My grandson is the cutest in the whole world!" Grandma Helene declared proudly.

Grandma, you really didn't have to say it out loud, you know...

"Hmph! We shall see! I will send you his picture once I get to see him! Then we can compare whose grandson is the cutest, alright?" Lady Helene challenged, refusing to back down.

But deep down, she was bound to be disappointed. Her grandson's charm was merely S-rank, while I now possessed an SS-rank charm.

Heh, that narcissistic half-elf can no longer claim to be the most handsome!

Haha!

Ha...

But I hate to admit it, there are other two people who have a higher charm than me...

And one of them is him...

Well, there's no need to feel down.

Charm isn't the most important thing to me anyway. What matters the most is who I am and how I live.

After all, one should never judge a person solely based on their looks.

While I was in my thoughts I didn't notice we were already seated. It also seemed everyone else had finished their greetings.

What's more, the atmosphere feels a little tense and serious.

Did I miss anything?

...

.

"So, what is the actual reason for your visit?" Finally Grandma spoke, breaking the awkward silence.
