After barely managing to escape the clutches of those maids who almost turned me into their dress toy as they made me wear different things that I don't even want to remember
They said the theme of their evil torture was 'exploring the inner beauty'. As planned, I managed to sneak into one of the empty rooms in this superfluous castle. I had thought our castle back was superfluous, but this one is definitely over the top.
Inside the room, I could hear faint voices undoubtedly coming from the ongoing ball as I impatiently waited for Fiona's signal. I want to get this whole ordeal over and done with
I looked around the bland room I found myself in and sighed. I think they forgot to decorate this one, and I wouldn't bane them. Not knowing what else to do, I placed my ear on the door hoping to hear something or someone
What if she decided to participate in the competition herself?
I don't believe Fiona is that dumb to have risked everything to this point only to change her mind at the last minute. No, that's not the Fiona I know.
With that conclusion in my mind, I went to the bare bed and sat down only to be startled by a loud rumbling. I looked around the room in search of the source just to realise it had come from my belly.
The more I tried to ignore my desire to eat something, the louder the rumbling.
Hmm, what is the possibility of being spotted by my family members
To them, I am somewhere in our rented castle, resting.
And I am sure they are currently busy doing all those hectic stuff they do in a ball like dancing, eating, talking and the rest of them.
So, all I have to do is sneak out of this room and find something to eat, and then sneak back into my favourite bland room and continue waiting.
No, no, no.
No sneaking around, it's dangerous
My stomach roared multiple times in a row, outrightly disagreeing with me.
I stared at the door for what felt like years before moving towards it. I was almost outside when I remembered something.
I quickly kicked off the hideous shoe those maids made me wear, I can't risk people hearing my footsteps.
Really?
Ignoring my subconscious mind, I raced down the hallways, following the sound of soft music that played in the background.
The more I moved, the clearer the sound, and the clearer the sound, the more nervous I became.
What if—No what ifs Gwen.
Just get the food and go back to the room.
Right, get the food and go back to the room. Nothing bad could happen.
No looking.
No talking to strangers!
No sitting around.
My jaw nearly dropped to the floor when I saw the ballroom.
It is magnificent.
The elegant ballroom is indeed fit for the royal ball. Its walls are draped with white curtains, which are accented with shimmering golden accents.
The shining chandeliers and sparkling scones cast a warm, inviting glow throughout the room while adding a look of glamour and sophistication.
The floor is lush white marble and decorated with intricate golden patterns. The tables are set with white linens and golden chargers, and the chairs are upholstered in white fabric with golden trim. The overall ambience is one of elegance and grandeur.
I stopped in my tracks when I realised what I was doing. All this while, I have been headed towards the crowd where someone could easily spot me.
In my quest to escape, I turned around in full force only to bump into someone and have my bottom collide with the floor. All thanks to the gown, the impact was not as painful as I expected.
I looked at the person standing before me and glared at the figure. I couldn't see his full face because of the stupid mask that hid most of his facial features.
When I didn't see him making plans to help me stand up, I did it myself after cursing the dress thousands of times.
The way the stranger managed to stand so tall and straight while I struggled to get back on my feet angered me for an unknown reason.
On my feet again, I glared at him, "Where did your manners go?"
I couldn't make out his facial expression as he pointed at himself, "My manners? Why are you looking for it?" He asked innocently.
"Very funny. Next time make use of those eyes of yours." I said calmly when all I wanted to do was wrap my fingers around his neck and make him apologise to me.
"That should be my line and not yours because you were the one that bumped into me." He stated calmly as if he were explaining to a baby.
"Your line? Really? You made me fall!"
"You fell because you bumped into me you dweed."
Wait, what? Did he just call me a dweed?
I was about to fire him with as many insults as I could when I remembered three things
One, I am supposed to be getting my food and going back to my room.
Two, he is not worth my time.
And three...I am not wearing my mask.
"Goodbye!" I dismissed him immediately and dashed towards the large table by the corner that contained a lot of mouth-watering food.
