Chapter 72 - CHAPTER 73: A LOFTY CONVERSATION

I opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw was Miss Fia's face above me and the clear blue sky. Wait! Where am I lying down? What is this soft sensation under my head?

I stood up immediately upon realizing that I was resting on Miss Fia's lap. She looked surprised by my sudden movement and let out an "ohh" sound. It seemed she was about to fall asleep too. It was a good decision to stand up, or else I might have had to stay on her lap until she woke up. If one student happened to see us and recognized her, my student life might be in danger because she has a bunch of fans.

"So you finally woke up. How was it? Did it help clear your thoughts?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Yeah, thank you very much, Miss Fia," I answered shyly, smiling back. I felt embarrassed for sleeping on her lap, but she didn't seem to mind at all. Wait, how long did I sleep?

"Miss Fia, how long was I asleep?" I asked.

"About two hours or so, I think. Why?" she answered.

I slept for two hours on her lap?! What the hell am I doing? What if someone really did see us? My school life would be in danger.

"Just asking, did anyone see us while I was sleeping?" I asked, readying myself for the worst.

"Nope, no one, since everyone was in class," she answered.

Oh, benevolent god, thank you for letting everyone be in class today.

"Wait, then why am I not in class?" I asked.

"Hm? Well, it's already a given because of your injury, isn't it?" she answered, baffled by my question.

Well, she's right; that's a given.

"Then why aren't you in class?" I asked, making an expression as if to say, "Are you skipping?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"First, I'll let you know that it's not what you're thinking. I'm not skipping classes. Since our instructor was still busy tidying up the aftermath of the fighting ground case, she told us that she wouldn't hold classes today," she explained thoroughly, proving that she didn't do anything wrong.

So, she has this side of her too.

"Yeah, I understand. Sorry for doubting you," I said.

She smiled after hearing that, with a satisfied expression.

"But I won't be able to accompany you this afternoon. Since Instructor Refu was also busy, he asked us to hold the lesson for the first years," she said.

"It's okay, it's not like I'm crippled," I joked, but it seemed like she didn't get it and felt bad for me.

"It was a joke, a joke," I explained, and she made a confused face as if to say, "Eh?"

"Oh, it was a joke. HAHAHA..." She tried to laugh it off, but it just made things awkward, and both of us fell silent.

That's when I remembered the healing potion my father once bought me after the fight at Carson's mansion.

"By the way, is there any place in this school where I can buy a healing potion?" I asked, and she made a surprised face.

"There is, but are you sure you're going to buy one? They're a bit pricey," she replied.

"Yeah, I know. I once bought one because of a serious injury in the past," I answered.

"So, you've been prone to attracting trouble since before," she said, teasing me.

"To be clear, I strive for a peaceful life, but trouble just won't leave me," I replied.

She chuckled after hearing that, and I smiled after seeing that.

"Going back, you can buy healing potions in the clinic. Luckily, we're only steps away from the clinic," she said, as if bragging that she was the reason we were near the clinic.

"Yeah, thank you for dragging me here," I replied. After that, our eyes met, and we laughed at the same time.

While we were laughing, the bell suddenly rang, signaling the start of lunch.

"Time sure flies. It's already lunch. Want to have lunch together?" she asked.

"No, you can go ahead. I'll buy a healing potion first. I can't stand being like this anymore," I replied.

"Is that so? Then see you!" she said.

"Yeah, see you, Miss Fia," I replied.

"We'll come up with a solution later after class, so wait for me, okay?" she said.

"I understand, and thank you for everything," I answered.

After hearing that, she walked away, her hand raised and waving as if to say, "Don't mind it."

When she finally left, I proceeded to head to the clinic. I was really glad the clinic was only steps away because it was hard to walk in this condition.

When I entered the clinic, I asked one of the staff where I could buy a healing potion. At first, she was reluctant to tell me, maybe because she thought I didn't know how much it cost. But after showing her ten gold coins, she immediately guided me to a room where a girl dressed like a priestess was waiting.

After that, I easily bought the healing potion for ten gold coins, which were given to me by the principal. I drank it on the spot. Just like before, the wound on my left leg felt like it was closing. All of the small wounds on my body were also disappearing.

After a while, my body felt refreshed, as if I had just gotten a good night's sleep and my body was in perfect condition. I thanked the staff and left the room with a body as good as new.

While heading towards the exit of the clinic, I passed by the room where I had woken up earlier and heard two voices talking.

"He just left this morning with the top magician, Fia," a staff member said.

Are they talking about me?

"Is he coming back here? Or is he already released?" a familiar voice asked.

Where have I heard it before?

"I don't know. We'll wait for him until the afternoon. If he doesn't come back, we'll fill this room with another patient," the staff member said.

"Okay, thank you," the familiar voice said and immediately left the room.

As he exited the door, he was greeted by me, the one he was looking for. He looked surprised for a second but immediately switched back to his normal, nonchalant face.

The one in front of me right now was the Jack of Drei Academy's top cards and Raiden's friend, Byen.

"So, you're here. Do you have a minute? I have something to talk to you," he said.

It seemed like it was something important, and I didn't have any reason to refuse.

"Yeah, I'm about to get lunch, but I can spare a minute or two," I said.

"Thank you. Then follow me," he said and started walking.

I followed him just like he said, and we both left the clinic.
