Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 43: ROOMMATES

After the other students left, we first-years were assigned to a group of four with whom we were going to share our room. After we learned to which group we belonged, we were led to the dorms.

We take a short walk until we reach the dorms. The dorms were two separate buildings separating boys and girls; each building had five stories and 10 rooms on each floor. The room assigned to me was room 3-7, which is on the third floor.

When the four of us entered the room, the green-haired guy, who is one of our roommates, immediately ran towards the upper part of the double bed.

"I'll take this spot!" He said cheerfully.

"Wait, I also want the top spot," said Raiden, then immediately climbed the bed so no one would take it from him.

Yeah, that's right, Raiden was one of my roommates too. I was surprised when I heard his name called after mine. I'm a bit relieved to have someone I know even a little as my roommate.

"Wait, let's calm down first. I personally don't mind wherever I sleep, but maybe he wants the top part too," The brown-haired guy said, looking at me.

"No, don't worry about me; I can take the bottom part," I said.

"Is that so? Okay then," the brown-haired guy said while he was heading towards the bottom part of Raiden's bed.

I also head towards my bed, which is the bottom part of the green-haired guy. I placed my things on the floor and lay on my bed when suddenly I heard the brown-haired guy's voice.

"Uh, Can I have a bit of your time?" Said the brown-haired guy.

The three of us looked over at him, and he continued talking.

Well, you see, we will be sharing this room for one whole year, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to try to know your roommates so it won't cause any problems in the future and make our life here in the academy peaceful," He explained.

"I'm in!" The green-haired guy said excitedly.

"I'm in!" said Raiden, copying how the green-haired guy said it.

After that, the three of them looked at me, so I had no choice but to answer.

"I'm also in," I said, and then the three of them smiled.

"Since I'm the one who initiated it, I'll be the first to introduce myself," said the brown-haired guy.

"My name is Tork, and I'm from the Cram village near the border of the Crescent kingdom and the great labyrinth kingdom. I have affinity for fire magic, and what I hate the most is dirty and unorganized rooms, so please don't dirty this place too much; in exchange, I'll be the one taking charge of cleaning the whole place," he said.

"Are you sure about leaving the cleaning to you?" I asked.

Yeah, don't worry about it; I like cleaning after all," Tork said, then gave a thumbs up as if saying leave it to him.

"Then let me introduce myself now!" said Raiden with enthusiasm.

"My name is Raiden, and I've come from the small village called Rondol. It took only three days for me and my father to reach the capital, so I can really say that we're near the capital city," Raiden said.

Ah, I know that village; it's near my village," the green-haired boy said.

"Then you must be from the Latti village?" Raiden asked.

"Yes! That's my village!" The green-haired boy answered with enthusiasm.

Ah, let me finish my introduction first. I have an affinity for fire magic and a talent for swordsmanship, and I don't really have anything that I hate, and all I wish is for all of us to get along." Raiden finished his introduction.

"I'll introduce myself next!" The green-haired boy said.

"My name is Tyiyn, and I've come from the Latti village near Raiden's village! I have a talent for swordsmanship, and I hate loud sleepers, so please refrain from doing it," he said and finished his introduction.

After that, everyone looked at me again, and so I started to introduce myself.

"My name is Will, and I've come from Cartel village; it was so far here that it would take 2-3 weeks to travel from here to Cartel. I have an affinity for Water magic and also a swordsmanship talent. I don't have anything I particularly dislike; just don't touch my things without permission, and we're fine, that's all," I said.

"I see, then Raiden, Tyiyn, and Will I'm glad to make your acquaintances," Tork said.

"Yeah, please be nice to me," I said.

"Starting today, all of you are my friends now!" Tyiyn said.

Yeah, let's all be friends!" Raiden added.

They trusted me and told me their talents and affinity for magic, but I lied to them. I felt guilty, but I just couldn't tell them that I have an affinity for all types of magic. I have this feeling that if I told everyone that I have an affinity for all types of magic, then my peaceful life in the academy would be destroyed, so sorry, my friends.

While I'm deep in my thoughts, I'm suddenly distracted by the chime of a bell.

Oh, it's lunch already," Tyiyn said, jumping off from the top part of the double bed.

Instructor Gord explained to us earlier that when the bell chimes, it means it's either time for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

"Do you know where the cafeteria is?" Raiden asked.

"Didn't you hear instructor Gord earlier? It was behind the third year's dormitory," Tork answered.

"Oh, is that so? Then... Where is third year's dormitory?" Raiden asked again.

"I'm sorry, I... don't know either," Tork said.

After that, all four of us laughed at the same time.

"Then why don't we explore the whole school? We have so much free time and we can't do it anymore tomorrow because the classes will start tomorrow," I suggested.

"I'm in!" Tyiyn said with excitement.

"Me too!" Raiden said.

"Then I'll also tag along," Tork said.

"Then it's decided; let's go," I said.

After that, the four of us left the dorms for the first year and started to explore the school.

While walking, the four of us keep having fun conversations. It's really fun talking to them, and I learned a lot from them. Tyiyn's family is a family of swordsmen, so he has been trained since he was a child like myself, so we talked about it. On the other hand, the Tork family was just a normal family; it was only a coincidence that Tork got an affinity for fire magic. That's why he was so nervous when he came here that he almost backed out if not only his father who was with him stopped him. While it was Raiden's turn to tell about himself, he suddenly saw someone and stopped talking.

"Wait for me guys, I need to talk to him for a minute," he said, then ran towards the man who he just saw—wait, that's Byen right? The Jack in swordsmanship ranking

After five minutes, Raiden finally returns.

"Sorry for the wait, guys. I just greet someone I know," he said.

"That's Byen, right? The Jack?" Tyiyn asked.

Ah, you recognize him? Hahaha. Yes, he's Byen, and we live in the same village; we used to play together when we were kids. That's why I got excited when I saw him, and so I greet him. Sorry if I leave you," he explained.

"No, don't worry about it; it's reassuring that you know someone strong, so if ever something happens to us here, we can ask for his help," Tork said.

"You're overthinking too much; why would anything happen to us? Hahahaha," Raiden said, then again, all of us laughed.

Ah, Byen also told me where the cafeteria is, so let's go," Raiden said.

Yeah, let's go! I'm so hungry now," Tyiyn said.

After walking for a bit more, we finally reached the cafeteria. I'm having such a great time with my new friends that I completely forgot about Chris. Did she know how to go to cafeteria?

"Sorry, I need to go somewhere you can eat first," I said.

"Huh? Where?" Tyiyn asked.

"To his girlfriend," Raiden said

"Y-you have a girlfriend?" Tork asked as if he couldn't believe what he just heard.

"No, I don't have, Raiden was just overstating; she's just a friend of mine, and we've come from the same village, that's all," I explained.

"Well, if you say so," Tork said, calming himself down. Tork really loves overreacting.

"Oh, Will, don't worry about her; she's over there," Raiden said, then pointed at the table near the window.

That's really Chris. I'm glad she found where the cafeteria is, and not just that she's eating with other people while having a smile. I'm glad she also found new friends.

After that, the four of us ordered at the cafeteria, and we started eating. While eating, we talk about random things like how Tyiyn can eat so much with his small build, why Tork is always overreacting, and other random things.

After we finished our lunch, we continued to explore the whole academy until the sun went down and the bell chimed again, marking that it was time for dinner.

After we finished our dinner, we headed to our room and took turns taking a shower, and after that, the four of us started to sleep excited for tomorrow because tomorrow marked the start of classes and our life in the academy finally began.
