Chapter 32 - CHAPTER 34: CARSON

CHRIS' POV

After that, mister Conrad and three other men led us to the second floor while he left the others to clean the first floor. We were led to a huge room with a table at its center, and there was a bald man sitting with his hand on the table.

"Sir Carson, here's the magician and his niece," said Mr. Conrad.

The bald man smiled and got up from his seat to go to the front of Uncle William.

"I feel sad that the second time we met, we were in this condition. "If only you were not a magician, then maybe we can be friends," said the bald man named Sir Carson.

"Yeah, and stop acting like that." "Why do you hate magicians so much?" Uncle William asked.

"It's not just magicians that I hate; I hate all of those soldiers that are fighting on the battlefield; all of those nobles that aren't doing anything; and the one I hate the most is the king of this fucking kingdom," Sir Carson said.

"And?  "         "What led you to hate them and even me?" "Who doesn't even know you from yesterday?" Uncle William asked again.

"I'm glad that you asked me to be the loyal dog of this kingdom," Sir Carson said.

"Did you ever ask yourself why you are being sent to the battlefield?" He added

"Did you ever ask yourself why those nobles who are supposed to have more magical affinity and swordsmanship talent are not being sent to the battlefield instead they're here living their lives peacefully?"

He added.

"What are you saying?" "Get to the point already," Uncle William said.

Sir Carson's smiling face suddenly changes into an annoyed one after hearing Uncle William, but it immediately returns to its smiling state.

"Okay, it seems like you're not fond of waiting, then I'll say it all at once," Sir Carson said.

"Didn't you realize that you're being used by this kingdom?" He asked

"Used?           Are you an idiot? "I am not being used; I am fighting for the kingdom," Uncle William said.

"Fighting for the kingdom—what a noble purpose that the kingdom brainwashed you to follow and even send your child to the battlefield, aren't I correct?" Sir Carson said

"You are about to send that son of yours to the academy so he will fight on the battlefield, right?" Is that what a responsible father does? "To send their child to the battlefield and let them die?" He added.

"That's why I hate you soldiers on the battlefield because you are already brainwashed by this kingdom so that you'll even send your children to war; I hate it because I remember myself in the past," he added.

Uncle William couldn't utter a single word because the words of Sir Carson clearly shook his faith in the kingdom.

"Do you know that in the past I have had a daughter?" "My daughter is named Rana, and she has a magical affinity. That's why I sent her to the academy, so he can fight for this kingdom. After five years in the academy, she's finally sent to the battlefield. I promise her that when she comes back, I'll cook her favorite food and buy her a gold accessory. After a year had passed, I waited for her at the capital, where the soldiers from the battlefield were being sent. I waited for her to get out of one of those carriages where the soldiers are riding, but no matter how long I waited and all of the carriages are empty, I can't find my Rana. I look for her while in my mind I'm thinking maybe I missed her until I see one soldier posting a paper at the wooden notice board at the center of the town. I decided to ask him if he knew Rana. He said that he doesn't know Rana, but maybe her name was on one of the lists in the paper that he's posting. After that, I looked at the paper and saw her name—Rana. I asked him why my daughter's name was here, and what he says has destroyed my world. He said that those on the list were the people who died on the battlefield. I can't believe what I just heard, so I made him repeat what he just said. After that, he repeated what he just said and added that the families of those who died on the battlefield can go to the main base of the soldiers and claim their compensation for their family that died." Sir Carson told us about the reason he hated this kingdom.

"Do you know what hurts the most since I learned that my daughter died on the battlefield?" "This kingdom is in festival mood because it's the 25th anniversary of this kingdom at that time, and they're celebrating while my daughter is dead," he added.

"You magician, do you want that to happen to your child too?" Sir Carson asked Uncle William.

"I don't know what is right or wrong anymore," uncle William said.

"Then let me guide you; we'll start a revolution, and the purpose is to let those nobles fight for this kingdom and not us commoners; they have better magical affinity and swordsmanship talent than us, so why are the knights and commoners the only ones fighting on the battlefield and not them?" Sir Carson said

"Join me, magician, and we'll change this kingdom," Carson said, then offered his hand to Uncle William.

"Okay, I'll join you and start that revolution," Uncle William said.

"Uncle William, why?" I said that because I couldn't just keep my mouth shut after hearing that.

"Chris, shut up. You don't know anything. "This is not a matter a child should mess with," uncle William said.

"Sir Carson, my son Will is not here yet." "Maybe he's still fighting someone in the basement." "Can I go there for a minute to take him?" Uncle William.

"No, you don't need to go, get his son in the basement, and don't hurt him no matter what," Sir Carson ordered his two subordinates.

"Yes sir!"           At the same time, the two men started to leave and go to the basement.
