When he had eventually reached the location, it turned out to be a construction site. The workers had already left and the place was completely empty. The initial foundation for an apartment block had already been built, but there were no walls or roof yet.
For his job, Amra was to give the statue to a person that he was meant to meet here. He didn't know if it would be the exact client or just a messenger; it happens sometimes, some clients are just too insecure to trust anybody while others would do anything to avoid a direct contact with the delivery person.
Amra pulled his phone out and saw it was already past the agreed time, he has already been here for almost 40 minutes and which it was never supposed to happen. He was trained to just deliver and disappear incase of being targeted by other gangs.
"Hello!"Amra shouted, "I'm here." His voice echoed slightly, but there was no reply.
'Am I in the wrong place?' he thought to himself. After double-checking he was in the right place, he was left with just one thing to do.
{No one here, what should I do?}
He sent Damien a text
For some reason, Damien didn't respond on his text. This made Amra to start moving around the unfinished construction while fantasizing about the kind of life he would like to live when he would have enough money
Then, while walking around, he saw it. He discovered a dark red liquid on the floor, coming from behind one of the building's support pillars.
'Please tell me that's just a paint.' Amra prayed silently while every single cell of his body screamed for him not to head to the direction.
Ngrrr Ngrrr
His phone vibrated and when he pulled the it out of his pocket, he saw Damien has sent him a text with just two words.
{Run back!}
Lifting his head, he could see an arrow flying towards him at a frightening speed. Out of instinct, the only thing he could do was to lift the statue up, and thankfully a clanging sound was heard as the statue clashed with the arrow, protecting his face.
He only saw the man who had shoot the arrow for a brief second and his his heart started to beat faster. In just that second, Amra's grey eyes scanned the man's body and with the little detail on him, he already knew the gang the person came from,
A black leather jacket with a golden arrow on the chest. That was enough information Amra need to know the man came from the Golden Arrow, one of the four leading gangs of Avron
Amra gulped heavily while running for his life. He didn't know where he was running, he just knew he had to get away from that psycho. He could feel his heart beating so loudly that he thought it would jump out of his chest. He also noticed that his underwear was feeling uncomfortably warm as he had let the fluids held up in him go.
'I'm going to die, I'm going to die before Christmas! That was a real gangster, and he just tried to kill me.'
Running towards where he came from, he saw a few more men at the gate that were wearing the same jacket. As soon as they saw him, they charged at him as well.
'There's more! What the hell do I do?'
Dashing to the side, he left the apartment block and he was now heading to the more gritty area of the construction site, where there were several mounds of dirt, diggers, and more. The problem was, there were only two entrances to the construction site, the one that he had entered from and the other on the opposite end.
One was stationed in the north, the other south, yet in his panic he had run west… There was a wall surrounding the area and on the top there was barbed wire. Even if he didn't care about hurting himself, scaling something like that would have been impossible.
Eventually, the adrenaline in Amra's body had lessened, and he was feeling incredibly weak after the rush. His hands and legs were shaking, and he knew he couldn't run away for much longer. Diving in between objects he eventually decided to hide behind a dirt mound to catch his breath.
Amra could use several objects and things to hide in between, in his attempt to avoid the men chasing after him. Peaking around the hill of dirt he had hidden behind, he could see five of them in total, all with a bow on their hands and Arrows hanging on their back.
At this point, he was wondering if he should call the police, but if he did, then it would just be his own gang after his life.
Observing, he peeked around the corner again, planning to make his next move. He could see one person on his far left and the other on his far-right, searching between all the items for him.
'Wait, where's the sixth person?' Amra gulped heavily while looking at a beautiful young woman, probably 20 or 21 years old with a long black hair. Her body was petite and unlike other men of Golden Arrow, she didn't have any weapon on her but her hands were glowing green. ' And! wait! a Fluxed!' He thought while his heart racing more.
A sharp shooting pain spread in Amra's lower back. It was suddenly throbbing and felt warm.
Gritting his teeth, he slung the statue while turning around. The statue managed to smash the top of his assaulter's head, causing Amra to let go of it,which fell to the ground. The man appeared hurt and dizzy momentarily, but he wasn't knocked out. More notably, Amra could see that his hands had blood on them.
Touching his back, he felt the blood there as well. He had been stabbed.
Soon though, the man regained his momentum and that's when he decided to make Amra regret his actions.
He stomp his foot on the ground and use the momentum to propel himself forward.
Soon, a kick landed on Amra's ribs sending him crushing not far from the statue. Some sounds of his ribs breaking could be heard and Amra felt like just to close his eyes. The only thing he could see in front of him was the statue that he was slowly crowling to.
He knew he has to protect it with everything he gat or his family could suffer the wraith of Damien's Iron axe.
The moment he placed his bloody hand on the statue, something incredible strange happened.
The statue started to shine brightly and shake uncontrollably. The book on the statue's hand opened up and page after page was being turned like it was just some normal paper book. Amra couldn't take his eyes off the shining book as if he was in a deep trance. The words written in the book weren't in any language he had seen before but for some reason, he felt like he could understand it.
When the book finally turned its last page, statue started to disappear as if it was slowly turning to dust. At the same time, Amra's vision was starting to fade. His body felt weak and his eyes slowly shut.
But just before he passed out, there was a single message that he heard.
«Congratulations you have been granted the Pun...»
Unable to maintain consciousness long enough to hear the final word, Amra passed out.
