Bella stared at his face closely, searching for signs of mockery but all she met was silence.
He stared at her in utter silence as if he could not believe her words and for the first time it took him sometime to compose himself.
He nodded slowly.
"Then we will be late if we have refreshments now." the maid who was bringing the tray of refreshments paused.
She stood there awkwardly, not sure if she should place them on the table or take them away.
"You are right." Bella nodded warmly at the maid who bowed her head and returned to the door.
"I had informed Penny and her new governess. I am sure they would be ready too. Do you need time to change your clothes?" she stared at the opened buttons of his shirt.
He never attends any social event like that.
"I will be there in a minute." he stood up and excused himself when she nodded. But her eyes kept staring at him even when he left.
