"I heard someone there, let's go and check." the man shouted and everyone nodded. She saw how they all followed the man though she was sure she heard nothing.
But it was better. At least, she had time to hide at a better place or run in another direction. She waited for a few seconds to make sure that they were far enough and slowly came out.
She took a deep breath when she scanned the lane and found no one. But just as she turned in the opposite direction, she flinched and jumped back.
A man was standing behind her. He was so silent all this time that she did not notice his presence though he was so close to her.
"You are lost." he announced as if he was sharing a deep secret with her. "And being chased."
She took a step back and held the shard tightly ready to attack anytime.
