To realize that your husband loves your daughter but hates you to the very core shattered her heart. She closed her eyes and tried to stand up properly.
"Give her to me, you are still weak." he offered but she held her daughter tightly in her hands and looked away making Tyrone frown.
He was trying to help and yet she was throwing a tantrum.
"It was not me." she whispered as she shook her head. "I did not run away, Tyrone. Stop blaming me for something I did not do. I was waiting for you with the news when your staff asked me to leave.
I told them i will not go unless you personally ask me to leave but they chased me with force. They told me that you have married someone else in the war zone and you did not want the old things to stay in the palace and upset your new wife when you return with her. Have you ever thought about what I have gone through?" she snapped. Though her voice was not loud, her emotions were all over the place.
Most of the words were not even coherent as she kept mumbling, afraid that he would not give her the chance to complete.
"I thought there might be a mistake. So, I waited for you to come back and take me but you never came. It has been weeks since the war ended and I have seen your carriage returning to the palace, yet you did not come. I… you can not blame me for your mistakes just to get over your guilt." she hollered as she held her child tightly in her arms.
"She is only my daughter since I have given birth to her and taken care of her. It had nothing to do with anyone else.'' She was relieved that tears finally stopped her eyes. She did not want to look like a weak pathetic woman in front of him anymore.
She wanted to face him with confidence and tell him that he was a bastard. But every time she saw his face, those eyes, she only felt herself breaking apart and the desire to hold him tore her heart.
Only she knew how many times she had called him in her sleep. How many times she had dreamt that he would come to take her with her open eyes. How many times had she checked the door when his carriage returned. But he did not.. He never once looked back at her and now.. Even when he was here, he called her a criminal and it did not look like he wanted her back in the palace.
"What nonsense are you spouting? You were not there when the war started, you ran away because of your greed. Even when I was in the war, I sent everyone to look for you. They searched the whole capital to look for you but you were not there. You have been on a run since you have sold us for money. I wonder if my treasure is not enough for you?" his icy voice made her flinch and she took a step back scared.
Her expressions were easily taken as guilt when she looked away.
"Even your majesty has been looking for you for years. You are one of the wanted criminals in the capitol.'' The thought shocked her as she raised her head and looked at him in disbelief. Not only had he chased her but he made her a criminal. Ha! And she thought…
"So you are here to arrest me? And then.. Would you hang me to death so that you could be free forever!" she accused, "or is it because you were not able to marry that so-called woman you have found and want to get rid of me?"
When he did not come to take her back, she ran. One of the reasons was she did not want him to find her. Because… a person can not marry twice in the empire. If she would not be there, he would not be able to take divorce her.
He would have no choice but to make that woman his mistress. And any noble woman would not accept that she would stay as a mistress and a commoner would be the main wife.
She would leave him eventually and then he would realize that no one loves him except her. It was a foolish revenge, yet she wanted to savor it for what he had done to her.
"You are here for divorce, right?" she repeated when he kept staring at her face but did not say a word.
"That is right!" it was Damein who replied and when she turned to look at him, he was sneering at her.
"Do you want your highness to stay married to a traitor and accept insults of the empire all his life when he was the one who suffered most. You should be glad that he is asking you for a divorce, if i would have been at his place, i would have killed you the moment i would have found you. How cruel are you! Are you even a woman?" He walked closer and supported Tyrone, confusing her.
Tyrone never needed support. He was the strongest. But her eyes widened when he held Dami's hands and then they both walked in. but just as they reached the door, Tyrone stopped and turned to her.
"Come inside, the weather is cold. The child might get sick too."
"......." just what had happened in these three years?
