"I don't dare," he took a step back. "I only meant to protect you and help you with your recovery." As if he didn't find those words convincing enough, he continued, "The palace has assigned me as your guard. I couldn't leave my duties unattended."
She didn't even want to know who sent him. None of them were her friends, and she didn't want to be surrounded by more enemies at this moment.
"Then stay out. The enemy wouldn't come from inside, would they?" The man seemed unsure how to reply, so he focused on the water again.
"You should drink some water, my lady. You had a bad dream." And a bad start. But when she looked at the water, she had an illusion that a hint of green was swirling in it and she took it away.
"I don't need it." All she needed was the blood of the first prince. That vial must have been infected by now.
