"Mother superior." Lia bowed her head as she entered the grand monastery's private rooms where nuns reside. Mother's surprise had the biggest chamber with a separate sitting room and bedroom. While all of them only have a bedroom, and the new nuns had rooms in sharing.
The woman was reading something. She paused and smiled at Lia. she waved toward her and Lia entered the room.
"I hope I am not disturbing you, mother." the woman closed the scripture in her hands as she smiled at Lia. a genuine smile Lia had come to adore and respect. She felt a tinge of guilt filling her heart as she realized she was going to lie to this woman.
"Not at all, Aurelia. In fact, I was waiting for you." She offered a seat to the young nun. "I thought you would stay there for a few days. But you returned early." The motherly smile on her face was so kind that Lia felt a lump forming on her throat.
