Meredith slightly trembled. Her head snapped to the unconscious woman on the ground with her eyes blazing fire.
Richard was much calmer. He raised a brow while a leisure smile arced on his lips.
"Feuds are common in lower nobles. Do you really believe that it is my daughter who wanted to kill your wife?" His face looked bemused as he looked at the collected crowd.
They all bowed their heads instantly not meeting his eyes, when he continued, "if Meredith ever wanted to kill someone, would she ask a middle aged woman like Sarfina or knights who had strength and power. And I am sure nobles would plan murder stealthily. Why would she make a ruckus at the ball party?"
Many exchanged glances and nodded. It did not make sense that Meredith chose Sarfina to kill Anastasia, no matter how much hatred she had for the duchess.
