Chapter 67 - 67 - Superhero Base

-S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters-

"Sir, this is the report on this operation. After inspection, it is confirmed that Obadiah Stane was behind the kidnapping of Tony Stark. A terrorist group named Ten Rings were responsible for this attack, but something went wrong in the negotiations, and Obadiah silenced them all."

In the director's office located in the middle of the headquarters, Coulson was reporting the information he had received to a one-eyed, bald man in front of him.

This person was his boss, the noblest of all creatures walking on the face of Earth, the handsome Greek God, Nick Fury.

Nick Fury glanced through the report in his hand, with a calm expression on his face.

"Obadiah Stane is dead?"

"Yes, the cause of his death was a fatal gunshot on his forehead. The bullet was not numbered and the source could not be found. According to Tony Stark, Obadiah Stane was killed by an assailant wearing a mask."

Hearing Coulson's words, Nick Fury gave a strange look to him from one of his eyes… the remaining one.

Through the information in Coulson's report, Nick could fully see how high the combat ability of that steel armor was, and its defense was also strong enough to block missiles.

'But the one wearing it was killed by a gunshot?'

Nick Fury was speechless, but he still maintained the image he had built of an iron-blooded and cold-faced director on the surface.

"Who was the assailant?"

"Tony Stark is unwilling to disclose that, he took the initiative to hide a lot of details. The reason is unknown for the time being. Moreover, when we found the Iron Monger armor, it was no longer functional, it seemed that the important energy source was missing. According to my judgment, this energy source is very important. It might've been taken away by the assailant, and the attacker who stole the blueprint from the research institute is very likely to be the same person."

"Blueprints, energy source..."

Nick Fury looked gloomy, at least according to Coulson's judgement.

Coulson then continued to report, "Another point to note is that the incident last night has been reported to the public. Many people witnessed the battle between steel armors. Right now, the media is reporting this incident. Most of them believe that this time, the incident is related to Tony Stark, and the military intends to ask Tony Stark to hold a press conference to issue a clarification statement."

Nick Fury tapped his fingers on the table, and said in a calm tone, "Cooperate with the military to hold a press conference and create an alibi for Tony Stark as soon as possible. As for Obadiah's death, cover it up, make it look like an assassination."

Immediately afterwards, Nick Fury looked at the report, which stated that the attacker was a masked man with Tony Stark's photo on it.

"Start to investigate the identity of this attacker, and investigate whether there is any other organizations behind him."

"Yes, director."

*************

In the afternoon, Peter came to Derrick's house as usual.

He tiptoed and knocked on the door.

After waiting for a while, Derrick opened the door and said with a mysterious face, "Peter, my boy, you are finally here. Come in quickly, big bro will show you a hot babe."

Seeing the strange expression on Derrick's face, Peter was scared. He remembered that his aunt once told him that if he saw an adult with such an expression, he should turn around and run to the police hurriedly.

Out of familiarity with Derrick, Peter held back the fear and worry in his heart, trembling, he walked into the room.

Derrick didn't notice Peter's condition and walked all the way to the door of the garage, opened the door and invited Peter, "It's inside, come and have a look.

"This is... the workshop of superheroes?"

Now, Peter didn't think too much about Derrick's expression, but looked at Derrick with glowing eyes, "I- can I really go in?"

In Derrick's house, Peter had always wanted to see the superhero's workshop more than anything. In his imagination, the superhero's workshop was like a huge secret base built underground, with all the cool equipment and workers in uniforms.

Peter thought it was a superhero's secret base, and outsiders couldn't enter it, so he didn't take the initiative to ask to go in and have a look.

But now Derrick actually invited him to have a look, Peter was so excited that his small hands were shaking.

Derrick smiled slightly, "Before that, you have to remember that you can't disclose everything that happens inside to anyone. If the superhero's secret base is exposed, we will be in a very dangerous situation, understood?" (E/N: Derrick be looking sus af…Dial 911)

This kind of dialogue once again touched Peter's nerves and made him more excited for the workshop.

Peter clenched his fists and nodded vigorously: "Understood!"

"Okay, now come inside with me."

With excitement, Peter followed Derrick into the garage, and saw all kinds of firearms and weapons hanging on the walls.

Peter was then dumbfounded. This superhero base seemed a little different from what he had imagined.

Why did it feel more like an armory than a superhero base?

At this time, little Peter suddenly noticed that in the depths of the garage, a pair of steel armor was hung in the air by iron chains.

"..."

Peter breathed heavily and pointed at the steel armor, his hands trembling.

Derrick stretched out his hands, and introduced grandly, "Yes, this pair of steel armor is the battle suit I have been mentioning ever since we met."

After being affirmed, Peter quickly asked, "Is this your superhero equipment?"

Derrick shook his head, "No, I borrowed this from a superhero on purpose. He is a very nice gentleman. He heard that you were going to make a high-tech battle suit, so he gave me this to help you with your studies. "

Peter was amazed, this superhero that Derrick was talking about must be good too.

Peter didn't doubt Derrick's credibility, and stared at the steel armor intently, "I… can I touch it?"

"Definitely, it's for you, touch it."

Peter stretched out his hand to touch the steel armor. The cold sensation came running from fingertips, but that cold couldn't suppress Peter's fiery heart at the moment.

'Well, just which boy in this world can refuse the charm of mechs?' Derrick smiled to himself as he saw Peter touch the armor.

But this was not the end yet, Derrick turned on the computer on his work desk, and a complete blueprint for the steel armor appeared on the screen.

Every detail was clearly marked and specified on it. It was enough to make a normal person hold his head.

However, Peter stared wide-eyed and rushed to the computer impatiently. Although he could not understand it yet, it would not be difficult for him to understand everything about the armor with the blueprint and some time.

Seeing Peter's reaction, Derrick was very satisfied.

Only if you are interested will you have the motivation to move forward.

"I think you can see it too. This is the blueprint of the high-tech battle suit, I borrowed it from that kind superhero. It can be used as a reference for you to make battle suits in the future. Peter, people have high expectations from you, especially the person who gave these to me, don't disappoint that superhero's expectations!"

The steel armor was in the front, and the blueprint was in the back.

Peter then said firmly, "I will definitely live up to his expectations, I want to make an awesome battle suit!"

Seemingly sensing Peter's decision, Derrick was deeply touched.

"Okay! Now that the atmosphere is here, I have to announce one more thing. From today, the questions that you solve everyday are doubled!"

Peter: "..."
