Chapter 33 - The Data Vault

Derek Academy, alchemy classroom.

The new alchemy classroom was much better than the previous basement. Not only was the space much larger but even the quality of the crucible was visibly improved.

Michael's superior alchemy talent was discovered by his mentor. He admired his talent and often taught him more alchemy formulas.

"You are the most powerful mage I have ever seen." The high-level mage stood next to Michael's crucible and revealed a gratified smile. "If you are willing to train diligently, your future will be limitless."

"But don't be too anxious." The high-level mage's tone changed. "I can feel that you're in a hurry to improve and grow. This is not good."

The teacher this time was Mr. Jones, who had taught Michael when he was still an apprentice. He was still wearing a purple robe, looking like a master.

It could be said that ever since Michael joined Derek Academy, Mr. Jones had been teaching him alchemy. Mr. Jones had a complete understanding of this student, and he was also the student he was most proud of.

Mr. Jones had always believed that Michael would achieve great things in the future, but Michael's recent state made him feel that something was wrong. In Jones' eyes, Michael was too impatient. He was in a hurry to practice more alchemy. He took foxtail grass and other materials and immersed himself in the alchemy room day and night to practice.

Every time he failed, he would sigh, clean up his crucible, and start again.

As a mage, it was good to be motivated, but if one went too far, it would have a negative effect. Mr. Jones sighed. As a mentor, he could only try his best to help him in his own way.

"Learning alchemy takes time. You should slow down the time and stabilize it a little." Mr. Jones had more or less heard about what Michael had encountered recently. He knew that Michael was in a high-level state of operation to deal with Miller as soon as possible. His teammates were also working hard in their own fields.

However, he still couldn't bear to see his best student get into trouble because he worked too hard, so he reminded him.

"Mr. Jones." It had been a few days since Michael had returned to his home. He had been practicing in the alchemy room. However, he still hadn't used the foxtail grass he had painstakingly found to its full potential. Every time he found a new alchemy formula, it seemed to be lacking. This time, his body had already reached the end of its limits, and he was almost relying on his willpower to hold on.

"I know what you mean." Michael's body swayed. The mana output from his days of alchemy training had made his voice hoarse. "But if I don't become strong, how am I supposed to protect the people I care about? Do you want me to watch them die in front of me while I'm powerless?"

"Cough cough…" Michael suddenly bent down and coughed. "Mr. Jones, why don't you teach me how to make a better alchemy formula? Cough cough... After I get rid of Miller, I'll definitely listen to you and practice alchemy seriously. Otherwise, I don't know what he will do to our teammates."

"Alright then." Mr. Jones looked helplessly at Michael's reddened eyes and his obviously exhausted body. Finally, he sighed lovingly. "How about this? Take this pass and go to the database to take a look."

Mr. Jones placed the access certificate to the database into Michael's hands. "Here is all the information about Derek Academy. Go back and rest for a while. Bring your teammates to take a look. It should be of some help to you."

"Thank you." Michael's eyes lit up. He knew how important this access token was.

The academy's database was a place where only high-level mages who were qualified to be instructors could have access talismans or the ability to give access talismans to others. Most of the time, it was a great favor for instructors to bring their students to the database for a tour.

Not to mention, Mr. Jones had given him the pass and allowed him to bring his teammates to see it. Many high-level mages were hostile toward the students of other mages. When they were helping their students, they would never let the students of other mages get any benefits. Even if other instructors' students had a good relationship with their own students, it was still quite impossible.

This was the first time Michael had received such kindness from someone since he entered Derek Academy. He choked up, saying, "I'll definitely remember your great kindness. If there's a chance in the future, I'll definitely remember it. I will definitely repay you."

"Have a good rest first." Mr. Jones gently stroked Michael's head. "Don't tire yourself out before you get your revenge."

"Take this as a repayment to me," Mr. Jones added.

These words lit up Michael like the sun. He had thought that in this dangerous world, there would not be much kindness. She had even wondered if her actions were too saintly. But this high-level mage in front of him clearly didn't even have a bat to ask about good and evil, yet he still helped him without any repayment.

When he spoke again, Michael's eyes were a little hot. He knew that there was almost nothing he could do to help Mr. Jones with his abilities. He thanked Mr. Jones again before unsteadily driving the magic broom in the direction of home.

Castle Z.

The magic broom flew unsteadily into the castle, and Michael fell asleep almost as soon as he lay on the bed. However, he did not sleep well. In his dreams, he was still thinking about Miller.

He had used too much magic power in the past few days and slept for three to four days. During this time, Mr. Royce wanted to rush in a few times to see what was going on, but Carl stopped him.

"Let him rest. He's been working too hard recently." Carl said slowly. He had seen Michael's hard work and knew that Michael had provoked Miller because of him. He blamed himself even more.

Nina stood by Michael's bed and regularly used healing magic to transfer magic power to him to ensure Michael's health.

Four days later, in Castle Z.

Michael woke up from his sleep and stretched his body slightly. He immediately gathered his teammates and told them about the good news of obtaining the database pass.

After some discussion, they decided that Michael and Mr. Royce would go to the database together to search for information. Carl did not need to search for information at the moment, and Nina still had to take care of the Silent Bird's egg, so she could not leave for now.
