Chapter 9 - Tier 4 Mage

Stealing a magical beast egg!

Mr. Royce's eyes widened. This mission was too difficult!

One had to know that the magic beast eggs were hidden in the deepest part of the Dark Forest. One had to go deep into it to get them.

Regular mages like them could only wander around the outskirts of the Dark Forest. Only high-level mages occasionally went deep into the Dark Forest to look for alchemy materials in groups.

Even high-level mages might not be able to guarantee their own safety if they went alone.

"I just want to collect the first few rewards." Carl lowered his head under the gaze of his teammates. "Besides, I can't participate in the annual assessment in my current state. I want to pass this annual assessment first and then use the mission reward to increase my strength. It's better than the subsequent mission assessment.

"Even if the follow-up mission cannot be completed and is judged to have failed." Carl said in a low voice, "The rewards from the previous missions won't be taken away. I still earned it."

Generally speaking, if such a long-term mission could not be completed in the later stages and was taken back, the mission reward in the early stages would not be taken back. Instead, the progress would be reset so the subsequent people who accepted the mission could receive a new reward. This was a rare moment of conscience for the academy.

After all, this kind of mission often required a long time to complete. If the mission rewards given in the early stages were taken back, it would cause many acolytes to return empty-handed. In the beginning, the academy had tried to take back the mission rewards, but many apprentices sold or used the rewards as soon as they received them, they were unable to retrieve them. Some mage apprentices and mages simply abandoned the mission.

The reward income from the mission wall was also one of the main sources of income for an academy. This could also reflect the strength of an academy. If the completion rate of long-term missions in an academy was low, no one would even accept the mission. If time passed, it would even affect the academy's ranking on the academy rankings. With this in mind, the academy finally decided that if they failed the mid-term mission, they would not take back the rewards already given out in the early stages. Moreover, they could continue to receive the rewards that had not been received.

After all, compared to things like the academy's reputation and ranking, the small rewards in the early stages of the long-term mission could be said to be insignificant.

"The higher the risk, the better the reward." Little Bat comforted Michael when he saw his frown. "Think about it, that York is staring at you with a recording talisman. If you complete this mission beautifully, he will go out and publicize it. Wouldn't your team be famous?

"When the time comes, a bunch of rich people will be lining up to ask you to do exclusive missions." Little Bat increased her strength and said, "There will be a lot of generous rewards waiting for you. You can have whatever you want."

Most of the magic apprentices in Tyre would choose to focus on the type they were good at after passing the assessment and officially obtaining the title of a mage. When they needed other types of mages to cooperate with them, they would find a team or mage that they liked to give out exclusive missions and seek help. This kind of mission often had very generous rewards.

"Let's strengthen our equipment first before making any plans." Michael took out the potions he had refined over the past few days from his storage space and distributed them to his teammates. He also assigned them their respective tasks. "Mr. Royce is good at making talismans. Prepare more useful talismans in the next few days. I'll be in charge of refining the potion."

"Carl, can you breed spiritual plants and provide me with some plant alchemy materials?" Michael asked.

"No problem." Carl nodded. " I'm the only one in my dormitory. I've transformed the other half of the room into a small spiritual plant field. "

"Then let's make this arrangement first. Let's make our own preparations first," Michael said. "Let's complete these simple missions first. We'll look for foxtail grass and fluorescent stones on the outskirts of the Dark Forest.

"These missions don't require going deep into the Dark Forest. We just need to search in the periphery. The safety factor is relatively high and suitable for us now."

Magic Apprentice Dormitory, Alchemy Training Room.

After confirming which missions they would complete, everyone in Team Z went to their respective positions and began working hard. On the other hand, Michael was constantly refining various potions to strengthen equipment in the alchemy training room. After putting them into the treasury space, he would take them out for his teammates to use.

With the return on his investment, Michael quickly earned more alchemy potions and became a Tier 4 Mage.

It seemed that advancing from a Tier 3 Mage to a Tier 4 Mage was not as fast as advancing from a Mage Apprentice to a Mage. But in fact, he had leveled up a lot in the middle.

After becoming a mage, each level required a long period of breakthrough and cultivation. Many mages could only stay in the same place for several years without being able to level up. As for Miller, who wasn't very talented, he had already reached a bottleneck in the early stages of the magus realm and had been stuck on the same level for more than ten years.

Fortunately, the mages could use magic to maintain their appearances, or Miller would be a little old man this time.

Although a low-level mage could bully others in front of a mage apprentice, he was often defenseless against a higher-level mage. This was also the reason why Miller, who had already been promoted to a mage, still stayed in the mission hall where the magic apprentices gathered to bully others.

Because he couldn't afford to offend people of a higher tier!

Michael tried out his new magic power and circulated it in his hand, forming a simple magic ball. He looked at the magic ball that had become bigger and showed a satisfied expression.

Now that the team had a Tier 4 Mage, a Basic Mage Apprentice, and an Intermediate Mage Apprentice, it should not be too dangerous for them to head to the Dark Forest for the initial mission.

However, he still had to find a way to let Mr. Royce and Carl level up quickly. Otherwise, it would be troublesome for them to stay at a low level. Unfortunately, he could not use the treasury space to help them level up directly.

The normal way to level up a mage was to cultivate, slowly accumulating experience like in the game. However, the problem was that leveling up like this would take a good amount of time. However, this would be a problem to be worried about in the future. For now, he had to think about how to get foxtail grass and fluorescent stones. Although the outskirts of the Dark Forest were not that dangerous, it did not mean that it was absolutely safe.

"I found the map of the Dark Forest." Mr. Royce walked in with the map. "I exchanged it with gold coins at the academy's market. Quickly take a look and see if it's true."

Michael looked over and did a simple check. He found that it was indeed a map of the Dark Forest. It was unknown who drew it, but it also carefully marked the distribution of alchemy materials on the periphery. It was very thoughtful. However, the person who drew the map was obviously weaker. The map only showed the periphery of the Dark Forest and nothing else inside.
