They passed through various levels of residences, rushing to the city gate. Once again, they found themselves facing the powerful defenses, and a sense of security washed over them. Only then did they board their vehicles and drive out of the city, following the road lined with defensive positions.
When they were finally out of the sights of the defense lines and had travelled some distance further, a strikingly different landscape slowly emerged.
It was desolate.

On the side of a straight road, the vehicles belonging to Li Ming and his crew stopped by the roadside, after which they deliberated on their strategy.
"This road, being a suburban provincial highway, was sparsely populated even before, and now it would be even more deserted. Our current aimless search is highly inefficient. If we split up, we might face danger. We need to first find a destination to explore."
