[You Have Fought Valiantly And Survived]
[Evaluating Your Contribution For The First Event]
A shiver of excitement ran through Gu Erin's body as he sat up, feeling like lightning was running through his very veins. The qi around Gu Erin fluctuated rapidly, making the area silent, and the remaining beasts backed away. The other humans paused at the same time, and the beasts did not understand what was happening. Gu Erin's now fluctuating aura and cultivation pressure tipped the balance and made the beasts flee.

Gu Erin's breath caught in his throat, before he nearly coughed he tried his best to stabilize his breathing. Some might not know what they had just obtained, but he knew all too well. In fact, some might say they hit the literal lottery. No, better than the lottery. Gu Erin finally calmed himself down enough for him to think.
The Martial Tokens he heard of were just a rumor in his past life, all those who got them kept them quiet it seems. They only appeared in an Event, and only when someone had an overwhelming contribution. Gu Erin himself had never received one. Because, by the time he took Events seriously the competition was overwhelmingly fierce.
However, what Gu Erin was truly drooling over was not the Martial Tokens, sure they made his heart beat something fierce. However, what Gu Erin was nearly having a panic attack over were the Sect Building Tokens. Tokens themselves were similar to freebees within The Temple of the Heavens. The Martial Tokens could be exchanged for Martial Techniques, and the Sect Formation Tokens could establish a Sect. However, this would only allow one to claim land rights.
One would then have to buy buildings from the Heavens, of course the prices were reasonable, as long as they were within the Mortal Realm. Once you go beyond the Mortal realm, then things start to get ridiculous. One Earth Grade Building might cost hundreds, if not maybe thousands of Low-Grade Spirit Stones.
Gu Erin had to think carefully on how to use these Sect Building Tokens, if he used this the wrong way he would have to find a hole to hide in. For now, he had to recover, there was an injured Rank 3 beast licking its wounds, waiting to take its revenge.
Gu Erin merely delayed its evolution, perhaps weakening it significantly. But with time that beast will recover. Supported by its pride that Rank 3 beast might make a move at any time, but Gu Erin anticipated he had around three days or so before it did. He would place half of the Rank 2 beast cores into the formation in preparation, and sell the rest along with the Rank 1 cores.
He would get a hefty sum of money from his harvest, though his next words will no doubt make people wish they were dead.
"Okay everyone, time to get to work! Skin the beasts, get the cores, prepare the corpses for market! Dump the organs, they're not as valuable, only save the heart and eyes!" Gu Erin called out as he looked around at the completely exhausted group.
Some looked like they were about to fall over from pure exhaustion, many were injured in some way. However, he would not let such valuable resources go to waste. Lee Shio Ming approached him, a small limp in his leg, but his old face was filled with a big smile.
"Young Master Gu, you should let us rest a bit more. Don't worry ten or so minutes will do." Lee Shio Ming looked around for support, and many nodded in agreement, however they still waited for Gu Erin's confirmation.
They had all seen the combat strength of this young man who had transformed before their eyes on multiple occasions. In their eyes Gu Erin was the example, the one to follow to obtain strength. They knew now that this world was out to kill them, and the many life and death struggles they just face tempered many of their minds and hearts.
When they saw Gu Erin fighting the monsters without the protection of the barrier, many were at first scared, because they thought he would die, and they would be leaderless. However, with time, the constant slaughter of Gu Erin gave them confidence and hope. His strength was awe inspiring, and many of them now viewed Gu Erin in ways he had not anticipated.
Gu Erin paused, not because of the looks from the crowd, but from what his old mentor addressed him as, countless indescribable emotions welled up inside of him, to the point his dao heart was trembling. He did not know why, but these emotions were far more destructive to his dao heart then they should be.
It took a minute before Gu Erin calmed his emotions and was able to reply, nobody dared disturb him, and all waited for his word. He nodded. "Alright, rest and recover, use the alchemical goods we have left. The harvest this time is too great. We can't let them spoil."
Many fell to the ground to rest, while wounded wobbled their way over to the small incomplete cabin that served as their first aid station. Gu Erin on the other hand, started to meditate, wanting to recover as much qi as possible for the trip back to Haymire. They would probably run into a handful of Rank 1 beasts.
Gu Erin circulated his qi but, something was different. His blood felt like it was surging beyond his control, but it wasn't unpleasant. No, it was circulating on its own. Although it didn't pull in great amounts of qi from his meridians, it still pulled in a noticeable amount. It seems another aspect of his bloodline was to passively pull in qi. However, the more his body settled and calmed the less his blood pulled in.
It seemed this aspect of his bloodline would only awaken during battle, or when he was in a life and death struggle. Gu Erin wished he knew more about the Immortal War Tyrant bloodline, but it would be something he would have to discover on his own. Thankfully when he discovers something the imbedded knowledge of the jade slip he received from the Temple of The Heavens would improve his understanding.
Gu Erin stood, having recovered some of his own strength, it was only about five minutes, but thanks to his Divine Origin Defying Root. The amount of qi he could pull in at once was astounding, but it was still only enough to partially refill his reserves. With this recovered strength, if one or two Rank 2 beasts came he was confident in holding them off enough for his group to either retreat or help subdue them.
Gu Erin got to work, and slowly others started to follow suit, beasts were being skinned by teams of three or four, while others went through the countless corpses to cut out beasts' cores. Gu Erin would look back occasionally to see the continual growth of the small mountain of beast cores, and every time his heart beat raced. He was not the only one of course. Many had seen the associated price for beast course while selling the corpses of their past kills.
This increased the zeal at which everyone harvested the raw resources of the dead beasts, as everyone could already imagine the luxury they would find themselves in once they sold their harvest. Gu Erin however, was a little bit more collected than the rest. Although he knew they would get a good sum from his harvest, it would not be as much as they would be expecting.
After all the town too defended against the beast tide, prices would definitely drop. Gu Erin also had another thing on his to do list, and that was to visit that massacred camp again. Although he cared not for their bodies and possessions, he did care for their storage rings. Although they were very low grade, they were still pricy if one had to buy another.
Merchants would sometimes be found with a chain of storage rings, as much as their divine soul would allow. This would limit the strength of their divine soul, but merchants were not fighters to begin with so it was a worthwhile sacrifice.
Gu Erin planned on getting rid of his storage rings in favor of just keeping a single one. Although it would limit his available space, it wouldn't burden his divine soul. Although his divine soul was currently sealed due to his low cultivation. Gu Erin didn't want to take any chances in extending that sealed state. The divine soul was one of a cultivators most potent weapons.
Because, as soon as one learns to use their divine soul properly, mental and soul attacks become available to you. If you are talented in manipulating your own divine soul, your comprehension of these techniques will naturally be higher than others. These attacks can be considered trump cards and lifesaving abilities.
Gu Erin worked alongside those of his camp and prepared for their trip back to Haymire. He would leave selling the materials to others. His first stop would be to revisit The Temple of the Heavens. It was time to form his sect and claim the Earth Grade Spirit Vein.
