How long had he been here?
He couldn't tell if it'd been two minutes or two years.
After all, this dull night sky never changed its stars.
And the moon mocked him endlessly in the highest point of the sky.
He knew where he was, but it was so difficult to fully react. Everything was a hard concept that slipped through his mind, only barely being registered.
Next thing he knew, an agonizing shriek of pain filled ears and shook him down to his very core.
Izuku was suddenly very aware of his situation as he lurched forward, ready to confront or run from whatever his demonic quirk had in store for him this time.
Only… he wasn't in the forest anymore.
"M-Mina?"
The poised and wide-eyed look of the pink girl stood several feet away from where Izuku lay.
"Holy crap, you're a light sleeper." Mina blurted out, surprise still written on her face. She relaxed with a sigh, she must have been frightened by Izuku's sudden awakening.
The boy merely blinked in confusion. Within the span of the next few seconds, Izuku quickly remembered the USJ. How it was invaded by villains, how they got separated, the villains with the hands, as well as the… Nomu.
Izuku unwillingly shivered at the memories of fighting that thing.
"What happened?" He jerked forward, his attention sorely set on Mina, for she had all the answers. She recoiled at the abrupt movement, hands raised up.
"Wow, calm down. Are you alright?" She changed the subject, first wanting to know if her classmate needed any medical attention before she went on to tell the past events. Izuku had other ideas, he didn't want to waste any time. Mina understood quickly when he narrowed his dark eyes at the girl.
"That depends. What happened?" He urged. Izuku wasn't usually like this, but then again, it wasn't normal for him to wake up with the last thing he remembered being a beaked monster.
Not to mention that the scream he had heard in his dream greatly unsettled him.
"Alright, alright, sheesh." Mina backed down. If Izuku could already be this energetic, then he clearly must be fine. "Iida was able to come back with the heroes in time before anything else could happen. We were all gathered together and brought back to school, some others in an ambulance such as yourself. From what I heard, you actually had no injuries." Mina explained what she knew. Izuku listened intently. Once she had finished, he relaxed just a bit.
Enough to finally realize his surroundings. The design of the interior looked to be that of UA. Just as Mina said, he must not have had any injuries, so he was brought here to recover. He must be in Recovery Girl's room. He also noticed that the clothes he wore were not his own. A simple pair of hospital clothes was all he had. That and the blanket down to his waist. The cogs were slowly turning in his head, as he began to piece things together. After he took a second in deep thought, having been able to calm down he turned back to Mina.
"In that case, what are you doing here? You don't seem to be hurt in any way." Izuku questioned. Why had she come alone to see him with no other students or teachers in sight?
Izuku was once again surprised to see the purple blush on Mina's pink cheeks. It still confused him as to exactly why that happened.
"Heh. Well, we're all here actually. Because Aizawa had repeatedly refused to go to an actual hospital, he was brought back here. He's in the next room over where everyone else is talking with him. I figured while everyone was there, I would come over to see how you were doing. Although, I was gonna leave when I saw you were still asleep, only for you to rise out of the grave like a bat out of hell." Mina ended her sentence with a chuckle as she seemed to think of something.
"What's everyone doing with Aizawa?" Izuku questioned. It seemed strange for all of them to be visiting at the same time.
"He's giving everyone some… advice on how to cope with this." Mina paused in her choice of words. Izuku noticed how she seemed to fidget almost. It was then she perked up with a nervous smile. "It's not every day that we almost die during class, after all. Heheh." Her attempt to lighten the mood only made Izuku notice more just how strange she was acting.
To be honest, he didn't really know to react. His poor social skills can be thanked for the jerks in Aldera. But there was something on his mind.
"So, I'm assuming that Tsu and Mineta were able to get to Aizawa in time?" Izuku recalled that the exact reason as to why he got knocked out in the first place was to draw the Nomu away for his classmates to retrieve their fallen teacher.
Thankfully, Mina left behind her awkward posture to think about his question.
"Yeah, they came up with him not too long before the lights went out." The pink girl remembered the ghastly sight of the hero so broken and bloody. She put away her phone to resume the conversation
However, something in the sentence caused Izuku to furrow his eyebrows.
"The… lights went out?" He asked with hesitance, not yet sure what to make of this information.
Mina firstly responded with a sigh to remember that it was all over, but the memory of it was still fresh in her mind.
"At some point, some sort of powerful and terrifying shriek called out. It hurt so bad that everyone had to cover their ears. Jiro even had busted eardrums. The noise was so strong that it broke all the lights in the USJ, causing everything to go dark." Mina's tone was low with a hint of fear as the image of the dark dome resurfaced.
But that feeling of small fear for the past couldn't compare to the dreadful anticipation for what he was about to learn.
"Mina" The low and level voice was more than enough to let the girl know that he was indeed serious. "I need you to tell me exactly everything you know. Do not leave anything out."
And serious it was.
Mina had hoped she could steer clear of this. It would be better the less he knew, but those calculative green eyes were a bit more intimidating than usual.
"O-okay." Reluctantly, she agreed. "As you already know, we were attacked by villains. That mist guy, Kurogiri, as Tsu said his name was, scattered everyone in different parts of the USJ. I myself and a few others were able to avoid being taken and stayed up at the USJ entrance. Not too long after, a horrible monstrous screech was able to break all the light, causing everything to go dark and for all the glass to come down on us. After that, All Might showed, then Kirishima and Bakugo up the stairs. They said they had tried to fight the hand villain, Shigaraki, and Kurogiri but were stopped by the lights going out. All Might tried to help a villain that had gotten to the top of the stairs, but… I don't know what happened to him. Right after, Iida arrived with the heroes." After a long explanation, Mina took a second to breath, quite noticeably still shaken up.
After that, she continued.
"All of us who were present were taken outside to be treated while the heroes searched the dome. Not too long after, more of our classmates came through the door." Mina once again paused. "All of them had these terrified looks on their faces. I don't think I'll ever see the #2 Hero's son more scared for his life again. Once we were all gathered, one way or another, we were taken back here. Some of us had injuries like Ojiro who had a stab wound and lost a lot of blood. Hagakure had a sprained ankle, and I already told you what happened to Jiro." A low voice, merely a shadow of the usual happy self of Mina spoke.
Mina had felt she had gone through a horrible experience, but she couldn't even imagine what some of the others had gone through.
Some of the things they told her. What they saw, what they felt.
That sounded like true hell.
A hell that no one could even begin to guess where it came from.
A hell that Izuku felt he may have brought upon.
"Mina." His stern tone snapped her back into reality. She saw the dark look on his face, accusation in his eyes. "You're still being vague with me. What about the villains? The Nomu? Everyone else that came through the portal. Did they not get captured? They said their goal was to kill All Might. What about him?" Izuku would later question his small outburst. He didn't know why he felt irritated, but there were simply too many questions that weren't being answered. Not to mention that one of these machines around him was emitting a really annoying high-pitched sound.
Her expression told she was taken aback by this. But it was not just Izuku's annoyance that riled her up, but the questions themselves. She wanted to avoid and forget about it, but her fear of the truth was concerning.
The build up led to her own short outburst.
"They're all dead!"
That was a good way to end a conversation.
It for sure silenced the boy whose green eyes were wide with shock as the truth was finally presented.
Mina couldn't even keep eye-contact anymore. The floor was the focus of her inner struggle that swarmed her expression.
"The villains… all of them… over one hundred bodies." A wobbly whisper was all that came, but it was more than enough for the both of them. "That was all the teachers would tell us. B-but even then…" She trailed off, not able to finish. "It's been three days later, but I still can't get over it. Who could have possibly done such a thing?"
It was now that Izuku fully realized just how affected Mina was. He knew he should try to do something. He wanted to do something.
But damnit, the dreadful fear for whoever this mass murder could possibly be swarmed his mind.
"Midoriya…" Mina relaxed a little. This must have been going on and off for the past three days for her to calm down this quickly. "Just what in the world happened?" The girl's question was barely above a whisper.
But Izuku could tell that she was really screaming for answers.
In her shoes, anyone would be, and he didn't doubt it was the same for the rest of his class.
Yet, all he could do was look down in deep thought and concern.
"I don't know… I tried to hold off the Nomu long enough for All Might to arrive. But I failed and was knocked out." He said slowly. "Whatever happened, I'm sorry. But… you should really go back to the others. I don't think I'm the best person to talk to right now."
A silent pause fell between them.
Izuku felt bad for basically pushing her away like this, especially since she definitely seemed like she needed some consoling, but again, he didn't think he was the best option.
He himself needed time to think.
"Okay." Another weak whisper. Mina was already mentally exhausted for the day. She turned to walk and headed to the open door. Just before she went around the corner, she looked back. "I hope you two get better soon." She said over her shoulder before she closed the door behind her.
Mina let out a heavy sigh as she leaned backwards onto the door. Her head leaned up to stare at the ceiling.
A conversation she hoped to avoid, but at least Izuku was alright.
That was when she happened to notice the few figures next to her. Mina was a little surprised to see Iida, Uraraka, Kirishima, and Kaminari standing there with awkward looks.
They must have overheard.
Feeling a little embarrassed, but not enough to care, she simply waved them away.
"We should leave him be." With that, she and the rest walked away.
Meanwhile, Izuku was still stumped over something.
"You two?" He repeated what the pink girl said to him. At first, he wondered if she somehow knew about Grimm, but that couldn't be possible.
He looked around the room, fully this time.
As to where Mina exited the room on his right, he finally looked to his left.
There, in another bed lay the sleeping figure of Tokoyami.
..............................…
"Find anything else?" Yagi asked, a glimmer of hope that something could have been discovered recently.
However, his hope was wiped away by a defeated sigh from his friend.
"No matter how many times we go through it, we keep coming up with clues we already have. And even then, it's not near enough to pinpoint the culprit." Tsukauchi rubbed the back of his neck from exhaustion and frustration. His explanation was mixed with the background noise of other people talking and working around the two men.
"Still nothing, huh?" Yagi shared that frustration to an immense degree. He even felt guilty for the scene he was in the middle of. Despite all the corpses having been taken away, there were still stains of red everywhere he looked.
"I just don't get it. How can someone like that disappear so easily? One of the students said that main villain and the warp guy left after they were attacked and this Nomu of theirs was killed. So, they couldn't have possibly warped away using that method. None of this makes any sense." Tsukauchi sighed once more. His several years of experience as a detective did little to help him in this bewildering mystery.
"Hey now, don't get so worked up. A clear mind will give clear answers. Let's just go through everything again. Start from square one." Yagi placed a reassuring hand on his friends' shoulder. Tsukauchi smiled enough and was able to collect himself.
"Alright, square one."
Both men traveled a short distance within the USJ. Temporary lights have been placed around to provide enough light to see their surroundings. The floor was now mostly clean but they could still hear the occasional crunch of a stray glass shard beneath their shoes.
It was near the fountain directly in the middle that they stopped.
"This is where I believe it all to have started. Two of your students, Bakugo and Kirishima said that they were combating against the two villains that seemed to lead this invasion, Shigaraki and Kurogiri. As they appeared to have the upper hand, the Nomu, as they said to have called it, arrived in time as backup. However, just before it could attack, a powerful vocal attack the students described as a high-pitched shriek maimed them. Powerful enough to break the lights. Then, under the cover of darkness, someone came here and killed the Nomu." Tsukauchi pointed to the large purple stain on the ground, the exact spot they found the ultimately mutilated body of the humanoid creature. The spot where its brain should have been was an empty hole.
Its very nature greatly worried the two of them. DNA tests revealed it to have several human strands combined into one. And the worst part, even different groups of quirk cells within its body. Yagi was still coping with that and hoping for the best.
And then there was the hand.
Next to the body of the Nomu, there was a singular hand that rested in the puddle of blood. Unfortunately, no matches came up in their databases for a DNA test.
"It was from here, that the blood trail began." Tsukauchi continued. "Following it, we'll eventually find ourselves at the Landside Zone."
"This is the spot where both Todoroki and Hagakure were found. Their story was that a villain was nearly about to attack them before they spoke of some sort of cold wind that sounded like a large hiss. Next thing they knew, the villain was gone, leaving behind his weapon for us to find later." Tsukauchi thought back to when he had interviewed the boy, while Hagakure received treatment for her knee.
To say that he looked mildly disturbed was an understatement. He wasn't able to get the exact details, as Endeavor showed up to take his son home.
"Next up is the Conflagration Zone."
"This is one of the biggest clues we've found so far." Tsukauchi stared up at the entrance of the dome. "As you know, the gates open outward. However, you can obviously see that they have been forced inward due to the broken hinges. Not to mention, that." The detective pointed up to the two spots on the open gates. Where they would have connected, there was a massive dent between the two. "The indention of the mark is nearly twenty-five feet tall. Once the intruder was able to get themselves through, they then proceeded to kill the villains within. Just as Ojiro was able to describe to us, we found them all together at the opening of an alley. From here, the trail leads to the Mountain Zone."
"And this is the post where Yaoyorozu and Kaminari heard the strange digging sound." Tsukauchi crouched down to look over the deep hole. "This hole gives us another clue about the culprit. If you look closely, you can see deep drag marks. The ground is hard, and the rocks have broken apart, so it's difficult to pinpoint any exact details. Before then, the entire area was littered with bodies that the students said they could be heard being crushed outside the tent they were found in." The detective did his usual roundabout in the area to find any unturned clues.
"The kids also said that these villains had already been knocked out, so that means whoever it was didn't care whether they were actively attacking or not." Yagi gave his two cents in the deduction.
"True. And finally, the Downpour Zone."
"This place had one of the biggest factors in this investigation." Tsukauchi and Yagi walked through the streets of the fake city. The rain had been turned off since the USJ incident ended. "In this zone, both Koda and Tokoyami were confronted by villains. Koda said that Tokoyami had hid him and deterred the villains elsewhere. After that, we have no proof of what happened. All except for the aftermath." Both men stopped at the scene.
It once again took their breaths away.
The entire area had been destroyed. The ground was cracked and cratered in several spots. Nearby buildings were barely able to stand with how damaged they were.
It looked like a warzone.
"What do you think happened here?" Yagi asked slowly, his eyes still trailing around the ruins of the zone.
"That one boy's quirk, Tokoyami. I had been informed in this investigation that his quirk is a sentient one named Dark Shadow. The details of his file states that his quirk gets stronger while in the dark but gets harder to control." Tsukauchi's works matched his deep level of thought, causing the other man to raise an eyebrow.
"Are you saying that Tokoyami lost control and rampaged against the villains instead of the invader?" Yagi turned to his friend, a look of slight disbelief that one of his students was capable of doing this.
"Not just him, but both." Tsukauchi turned to meet Yagi's gaze. "I think they were both here at the same time and fought." That observation frightened Yagi a little. He knew that the invader was fully capable of killing these villains. How on earth could Tokoyami have fared against the killer? "If you look closely, some of the destruction is up high against the buildings, all of which had no signs of blood or a regular person directly being the victim of the attack. This time, the villains were merely caught in the crossfire."
"So, that means Tokoyami had confronted them, which means he could have seen what they looked like." Yagi sounded excited at his own statement.
"Yes. We only have to wait for him to wake up and we just might be able to track down this mysterious murderer." So far, their greatest way to identify them was for the raven-headed student to confess his experience. As far as they knew, he was the only one to have seen them and lived to tell the tale.
"Besides their apparent size and thirst for bloodshed, who do you think they are?" Yagi questioned his friend.
"Hmm?" Tsukauchi hummed, unsure what the man meant.
"I mean, what do you think they were doing here? If they were sorely a villain, then they would have killed the students too. Why?" Yagi asked the detective for his thoughts. "Do you think perhaps a vigilante was able to disguise themselves among the villains?"
"I doubt that. I don't know of any vigilantes around here that are capable of something like this, not to mention so brutal. Besides, the usual vigilante would have attacked the villains before anyone else would be in danger. The individual was able to kill over a hundred people in less than half an hour. If their power was that great, then they wouldn't have needed any condition to attack…" Tsukauchi paused for a second, causing Yagi to blink. "Wait, no… The lights. Everything went dark when the intruder began to kill, meaning that they had the upper hand when there's no light. That also means they have some ability or sense that allowed them to traverse in the darkness."
"So, like, night-vision or something?" Yagi caught on to what Tsukauchi was saying.
"Yes, something like that. But in today's world, who knows what sort of special power they could have used. But that's another clue, nonetheless. Hopefully, we can use this to find the culprit." Tsukauchi said aloud, his narrowed eyes glanced over the ruins of the street.
"And is that it?" Yagi furrowed his eyebrows.
"I'm afraid so. More so afraid that this isn't just some mass murderer. They're smart. We followed the blood trail from here all the way to the Flood Zone. At first, I thought the pattern was merely random. But no. It was deliberate when I learned that no trails came from there. The only clue was… well… the pile of bodies either floating on the surface or piled at the bottom of the lake. No blood came out though. They washed themselves before leaving into nothingness… Completely disappearing." Tsukauchi spoke grimly. Someone with the intent to kill was one thing. But someone with intelligence was another.
Either way, he would find this killer, no matter who they were.
"It's Midoriya."
The voice of Yagi came from Tsukauchi's right. He spun his head, confused as to why the lanky man would mention the boy.
There he was. His phone in hand and a bit of a confused look on his face.
"Midoriya?" Tsukauchi echoed the name. Yagi perked up to look at the other.
"Oh, yeah. He messaged me, which is unusual for him unless it's on our cleaning days." The blond explained, his voice sounded more confused at the end.
"You have each other's numbers?" Having gotten a little off topic, Tsukauchi pondered about what he just heard.
"Well, yes. Midoriya and I actually know each other outside of school. But he only knows me in my civilian form. He had no idea that I'm All Might, though." Yagi answered the detective.
"How… and why?" Tsukauchi found it very peculiar for someone such as Yagi in his position to be meeting up with a student of his outside of school with a completely different persona.
"We first met some time before the school year started on the Musutafu Beach. We decided to help each other clean it. During one of those times, I learned that he wanted to go to UA. Call it coincidence, I suppose. But know, I guess it's also to help him any way I can." Yagi was a little more than surprised to hear from the school staff that Midoriya was to be looked after by Aizawa since his file was a little suspicious.
All Might never told of his connection with the greenette to anyone, but he made it a reminder to keep track of anything he learns about him.
After the battle exercise with Tokoyami, Yagi has had his concerns.
"Well, what did he say?" Tsukauchi's question brought the blond back to reality as he still had the unread message on his phone.
He looked down, his eyes going over the words.
"Hmm… he wants to meet tomorrow."
..............................…
Izuku let out an exhausted sigh.
Not one of physical tiredness, but rather one of mental strain.
It was followed by the sound of his bed as it shifted underneath his weight from his flopping backwards onto it. The phone in his hand bounced out and on top of his pillow upon impact.
After he had been checked up on in Recovery Girl's office, he was deemed fit to leave with no lasting effects.
At least, none that Izuku told her anyway.
Strangely enough, there was still a ringing in his ears that didn't go away, even after he left. It was very faint and hardly noticeable during activities, but with him just sitting there in silence, it was more than a distraction on his mind.
Must have been caused by the last attack from the Nomu. Even though his skull held up, his brain surely must have taken damage from the shockwave. Something like that.
Hopefully.
Anyway, he was simply trying to set his mind on something other than the USJ.
That was easier said than done.
A shrill scream filled the dome as his classmates described it. Something that couldn't possibly be human but had no other way to explain it.
The lights busted from above, showering everyone in glass.
That couldn't have been a coincidence.
It was the same thing that happened eleven years ago.
But… it just couldn't be… It couldn't.
Izuku did his best to keep Grimm under control. The Nomu knocked Izuku out before his quirk could take control. That had to be what happened.
There were plenty of villains there. At least one of them could have had the ability to make that screech.
Besides, Izuku was told by Recovery Girl that he was found in a crater far off behind the water fountain. Right around where Izuku had drawn the Nomu away.
He remembered the words that said All Might himself had found him, bloody, injured, and most embarrassingly, naked.
That Nomu left him thinking that Izuku was dead, and that was where Izuku stayed.
Besides, Izuku was almost always able to remember…
But Izuku didn't remember what happened the first time he lost control. All he knew was what his mother had told him
Could… could he really have…
No.
He didn't.
Izuku has worked too hard for this to have happened. He fought the Nomu and lost. Someone else came along and killed those villains. There's absolutely no way they died because of him.
Izuku growled with frustration. He refused the possibility.
There was simply not enough evidence to persuade him.
All of this was just some freak accident that he had nothing to do with.
Plain and simple.
At one point, he was fighting for his life in the USJ, and the next, he had woken up to Mina-
…
"Mina…" Izuku pinched the bridge of his nose. He let out another long sigh when he realized what he was going to have to do. Before he did anything, he grabbed for his phone again and raised it above his head. Still no new notification from Yagi. "Suppose he might be busy." Izuku mumbled.
He tossed the phone to the side and leaned upward into a sitting position. He once again let out a sigh and hopped up onto his feet.
Some walking later.
Two gentle knocks on wood, then silence.
It was interrupted by a click of a door handle before two pairs of black eyes came face-to-face.
"Oh." Mina was a little more than surprised to see Izuku standing in front of her dorm. "H-Hi?" She couldn't help if she sounded confused, but the normally stoic teen was among one of the last people she expected to come knocking.
"Hey." She noticed how his voice seemed a little hesitant. "To get down right to it, I just wanted to say sorry." Well, he wasn't lying when he said he wanted to get right down to it. But why?
"Sorry?" Mina mimicked the word with confusion.
"About this morning. In Recovery Girl's room. I was… less than tolerable in the way I acted." As he looked back on it, Izuku was a little ashamed how he threw his fear and aggression on her.
"Ah. Heh." Mina realized what he was talking about before she let out a small amused laugh. "Don't worry about that. If anyone should be apologizing, it should be me." The girl confessed with her gaze elsewhere.
"Why is that?" Izuku asked.
"Because the last thing you remember before today was fighting the Nomu while I've been dealing with much smaller issues for the past three days. The whole reason I came to see you was because I was hoping to have a normal conversation with someone." Mina turned her eyes downwards to the ground, an expression of shame in her golden irises with shame in her weak smile. "It's all everyone's been talking about… you know? I just… wanted to get away from it."
To say that Izuku understood what she meant was an understatement. He knew perfectly how she felt.
His entire life in Aldera has been trying to get people to be normal around him without them mocking him or turning away from his black eyes. Instead, either in front of him or behind his back, they would tease, make fun of him, bully, antagonize, everything that Izuku wanted to get away from.
"Yeah, I understand- Mm!" Izuku suddenly winced when a sharp pain coursed through his head. It was the ringing he hadn't stopped hearing since he woke up. It had spiked in volume and frequency out of nowhere.
"Are you alright?" Mina was concerned when the greenette suddenly clutched the side of his head with one hand. She had almost reached out to him and would have if he hadn't stopped her.
"Yeah. It's nothing to worry about. Just some ringing in my ears. I think it might just be from getting hit by that Nomu in the head. It should go away soon." Izuku reassured her, waving her off while trying not to seem rude.
"Really? I figured it would have been from the shriek." Mina pondered for the cause of Izuku's head.
"Huh?" Izuku sounded rather interested.
"Well, if I remember correctly what I was told, you got knocked out before that Nomu thing came back to get Bakugo. If you were out cold, then how could you have covered your ears. Your eardrums are probably really damaged." Mina explained. The explanation made perfect sense to the otherwise troubled Izuku.
Of course. That had to be it. Mina's statement made so much more sense than when Izuku tried to make the Nomu as an excuse. That meant if the screech hurt Izuku's ears, then Grimm couldn't have escaped.
That had to have been something else.
"Midoriya?" Mina's voice snapped the greenette back from his thoughts. "You okay?" She must have seen the look on his face and gotten a little worried. But in all honesty, Izuku was doing pretty good after that conclusion.
"Yeah, I am. Thanks for understanding. I think I can sleep a bit better tonight." He nodded to her with a small smile. It would appear that it was especially infectious for her as a reflective smile crossed her lips.
"Of course. I'm glad I was able to help." Mina continued to smile, quite satisfied with this outcome as of compared to this morning.
"Then, until next time." Izuku said his far well to the pinkette to which she looked a little surprised at first but quickly returned the gesture.
"See ya." With that, Izuku walked away with the sound of the door closing behind him.
That actually went a lot better than he expected. Not to mention that Mina gave him another reason not to believe he was the reason for the events in the USJ.
Soon enough, all of this would go over quickly. And to start it off would be a good night's sleep.
..............................…
"Gra." Izuku growled from his throat as he shot up in bed. Both hands were placed firmly on his ears that cupped his frustrated pained expression.
The ringing in his ears got worse.
So much worse.
It felt like a cannon just went off next to his ears. The sound had gotten to the point where it gave him a headache to go along with it.
And dammit, no matter how many times he tried to reform the parts around his ear drums, it just kept going. Even when the world around him was completely void of noise.
This at all didn't make sense.
He should be healing. Not to mention, he had three whole days to recover in the nurse's room. How could it be getting worse?
Should he just suck up his stubbornness and go see Recovery Girl about it? Was she even still on the school grounds to even try? Could she even fix what was happening to him?
And here he thought he would be having a good night's rest
"Ah!" The ringing spiked again. The pain stung through the back of his eyes and made it difficult to breath. If this kept up, Izuku really would need to do something. This just might kill him in the end.
Could a villain perhaps have done something to him while he was out cold? Could someone have used a quirk to place an invisible bomb inside his head?
Was this really how Izuku was going to go out?
By some stupid noise that-
Izuku slowly opened his eyes in utter confusion. Just as slowly, he pulled his hands away from his ears.
The sound…. It was….gone?
Where did it-
