Chapter Text

Oh boy.

Oooooh boy.

"Izuku, sweetie?" The boy in question looked up to meet his mother's gaze. "It's not gonna open itself." Izuku morphed his troubled expression into teasing sarcasm.

"You don't know that." His snarky reply brought a snort from Inko as they immersed themselves in the short interaction to lighten the mood. After all, both Midoriya's were pretty anxious for what awaited them in the letter that was tightly gripped in Izuku's hand.

Both sat in their living room; Izuku sitting crisscrossed on the couch and Inko sitting next to him. Just a few minutes prior, the green-haired woman had come bursting back into the house with a singular envelope with bright bolded letters of UA stamped on the front.

Just as they both expected, it had come two weeks after the entrance exam and one week after Izuku went to the beach again.

The wait was finally over.

But holy crap was Izuku ever more of a nervous wreck than before. His excitement masked the occasional jerks of his body but did nothing to show the anticipation.

In the end, Izuku knew that Inko was right and eventually have to take the next step.

It's just that neither were at all expecting to be met with a high-tech disk rather than a piece of paper. The younger Midoriya held it curiously in his hand as Inko inspected it over his shoulder. Both spotted the small button placed neatly on its edge at the same time. Their green eyes met to which they nodded to one another before Izuku placed the disk down on the table in front of them.

A light press of the button and the disk came to life.

"BOOYA! IT IS I; ALL MIGHT. IN THE FORM OF A PROJECTION."

The two greenette's jumped at the sudden holographic appearance of the #1 hero in their living room. For starter's Inko was surprised in general. However, Izuku was stunned to realize that he was given a letter from UA, yet here was a message from All Might himself.

Does that mean…

"I BET YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING THIS, YOUNG ONES. BUT YES, AS FROM NOW, I AM A FACULTY MEMBER OF THE PRESTIGIOUS HIGH SCHOOL; UA. NOW, ONTO MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS. TO START OFF YOU SCORE FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM, YOU NAILED THE WRITTEN PORTION WITH FLYING COLORS. A 96% IS NO EASY FEAT. CONGRADUALTIONS, YOUNG MAN." Izuku let a joyful smile grow across his lips as Inko hugged him from the side. But this wasn't over quite yet. They were only halfway there. "HOWEVER, THE PRACTICAL EXAM IS A MUCH DIFFERENT STORY."

And just like that, Izuku felt himself deflate with dread hanging down on him like a heavy blanket. The squeeze of Inko's hug tightened as a gasp escaped her lips.

They listened to the hero as he continued.

"SURE, ANYONE CAN STUDY AND PASS A TEST. BUT YOU; YOU DID WHAT NO ONE ELSE HAD. THROUGHOUT THE TIME THAT YOU DISPLAYED EVIDENT SKILL IN ELIMINATING THE 'VILLAINS', YOU ALSO TOOK ANY OPPORTUNITY TO HELP YOUR FELLOW EXAMINEES."

The previous dullen atmosphere quickly lifted as they registered the approving words of All Might. The screen suddenly switched to Izuku during the entrance exam just as he dismembered the tail of a two-pointer just before it could attack a boy who had not seen it coming. The next scene to follow was of him catching another student midair who was blown back by a downed robot blowing up directly in front of them.

The next was of the girl that Izuku had defended from the attacking one-pointer.

The finale clip appeared on screen.

It was of the zero-pointer. Izuku watched himself undergo the intense transformation and tear the machine into scraps inside-out. In the moment, the teen was torn between enjoying his approaching victory or feel fearful of the worried look that mixed into Inko's expression.

That's right, this was the first time that she's seen him that progressed into his shifted form; besides the night from 10 years ago of course. All of his worries were washed away when his mother regained her supportive smile as she nudged him approvingly.

One step at a time.

It was then that the teen felt pride for helping those students. Although, he wasn't exactly sure what the reason for showing him this was. The exam was scored only by villain points… right?

"LITTLE DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A SECOND SCORING SYSTEM. HAHAHAHA!" That statement was quick to widen both the Midoriya's eyes at what the man could possibly mean by that. "IT IS A KNOWN FACT THAT HEROES ARE NOT JUST HERE TO FIGHT VILLAINS, BUT TO ALSO SAVE THE CIVILIANS OF CITY THEY ARE DEFENDING. THAT IS EXACTLY WHY THERE IS SUCH THING AS RESCUE POINTS."

'Rescue points!? … actually, that makes a lot of sense.'

"IT IS WITH BOTH THE COMBINATION OF YOUR POINTS THAT COME FROM BOTH VILLAINS; 64 POINTS AND RESCUE; 95 POINTS THAT SUM UP TO A GRAND TOTAL OF"

Izuku was no longer sitting on the couch. He was standing just before the projected screen with wide eyes and a racing heart. This is real. This is happening. Inko wasn't far behind in her reaction as she was leaning on the edge of her seat and just as anxiously waited for the final conclusion.

"159 POOOIIIINTS! BY FAR THE HIGHEST SCORE THAT UA HAS SEEN IN YEARS! TRULY REMARKABLE! I MUST COMMEND YOU FOR THIS GREAT TRIUMPH." Upon the declaration of Izuku's efforts, a scoreboard popped up on the screen alongside All Might.

At the very top, Izuku's name was displayed for him to see.

"WELCOME, YOUNG MIDORIYA. FOR THIS IS YOUR HERO ACADEMIA."

.........................................................…

Izuku was one of the few that was picked out from the many.

Within the challenging entrance exam that UA uses to hammer on the applicants, only 1 out of 300 are accepted. It is done in such a way to filter through the thousands of teens that apply for a seat every year. That is exactly why only the very best are able to get in; using their extraordinary powers to push through the harsh endeavors and take their place in the school that has trained amazing heroes for years.

And Izuku was lucky- no. He was strong enough to have done just that. He was officially a student of UA now. Here, he could further expand his power and skills to unreachable levels.

It was with a ray of hope that maybe he could learn how to better control his quirk. While it was his #1 long-term goal to become a hero, figuring out to work along side with his power was the lock and key to it all.

He'll get there… eventually.

For now, he needed to take on the challenge in front of him.

The dorms.

In bright and bold letters that were designed in the same style as UA's signature font, 'Height's Alliance' was displayed proudly at the front entrance of a multi-storied building. Izuku had been standing at the front of it for about a minute now at least 20 feet away. You would think that most people his age would be excited to meet new people under this kind of a situation.

The problem was that nearly all of Izuku's interactions with said people have led to judgmental stares and highly unnecessary name-calling.

Growing up in a school where kids did that on a daily basis gave him that sort of mentality.

So yeah, Izuku wasn't at all too keen on living with complete strangers for the next 4 years. The only good thing that he saw coming out of this was maybe that one brown-haired girl. Uraraka was it? She at least seemed nice. Hopefully everyone else is like that and not suffering from the severe case of Bakugo-syndrome.

Just the mention of the name caused the greenette to groan. Seeing his own name in first place was cool and all but seeing the blonde's name just below his was a punch to the gut.

Actually, he wouldn't be surprised if Bakugo attempted to hit him the next time they meet. Surely seeing that he wasn't in the top after he's been declaring his unrivaled power for the last decade was certain to bring upon some form of … reaction

A finale sigh escaped the boy's lips.

"No point in staying out here any longer." He said to no one in particular.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." From not to far behind him, Izuku heard the flat tone of a someone. He turned his head to see a girl with short near black purple colored hair passing by him. Her most noticeable features were her long earlobes that ended with what looked to be headphone jacks.

Just as he did, she carried her own assortment of luggage and packs. Along with it, Izuku noticed a guitar case; a piece of information to store away for later.

The greenette took hold of his own belongings before walking up to the building. One step after another, he reached the top of the stairs and approached the door which he saw the girl enter. With one push, the first great room appeared before him.

He was immediately met with a large spacious area that held all the living necessities other than bedrooms. With one end displaying a set of living room furniture and devices such as the big T.V in the corner. On the complete other side was what looked to be a fully functioning kitchen.

Izuku didn't know how good of an idea it was to allow that kind of power to a bunch of young teens but guess there's only one why find out. Between the first two areas was a dining room that very well could be used for either eating or schoolwork.

Overall, it was the most fancy and tidy room that Izuku's ever been in. While he was impressed, he wasn't so much surprised. After fully inspecting the room, he spotted the few other students that had gotten here before him.

The first to catch his black gaze was a large boy with a unique head shape. Even though the boy seemed to be keeping to himself on the comfy couch, Izuku could quickly tell that he was the shy type.

Next up was a more active male with hair that was a similar color to the girl's from before was thoroughly checking every nook and cranny of his surroundings. His glasses that shined from the reflecting light further exaggerated his serious posture. It was the same boy that destroyed the second one-pointer before Izuku could get to it.

Not too far away in the dining room was a girl with black hair pulled into a long ponytail that draped over her … god damn, puberty hit her like a semi.

The final person in the room was a bright blond boy also sitting in the living area. He was strangely enough holding a mirror to himself while striking various poses. Watching him do this for a moment, Izuku caught sight of the advanced belt he wore.

Probably some sort of support gear.

All this information was given to him just within seconds of entering the room. With all of them being busy, it seemed that only the first boy had noticed his arrival. Izuku sent a small wave which was returned in a more nervous fashion.

'Alright, let's get to it.' With that final thought, Izuku re-secured his bags and headed towards the elevator he had spotted on the opposite end of the room. No one else had registered his presence and continued on. A single click of the button had opened the doors before Izuku to which he entered.

A 'ding' signaled the doors closing and bring the greenette upward towards his dorm room. The feeling of rising while not moving was always strange to witness as Izuku had not ridden many elevators in his lifetime.

*Ding*

"Oh! Hey, man." When the doors opened, Izuku was face-to-face with a tall black-haired boy who had a triangular smile. His deformed elbows made it impossible to guess where his quirk factor was. After the quick greeting, he stepped aside so that Izuku could get out as he was still carrying all his items.

"Hi. Thank you." The greenette returned the greeting and thanked the gesture as he walked past the other boy and down the hall; the taller teen entering the elevator behind him and going down. "Hmm… so far, so good."

Izuku was honestly surprised that he was being treated so normal. It was so strange that the normal felt weird. Hopefully he could make it last. He found his name tag plastered on the wall next to a room door that indicated that this was his own little property on UA grounds.

When he opened it, he was greeted with a fully furnished bedroom. A bare bed was placed neatly in the right corner that was parallel to a large dresser on the left side. Just next to it was an empty desk; just waiting to be used.

It was completely up to Izuku how to organize and decorate the room. With his possessions in hand, he walked in. This was his. He worked hard for this. Izuku couldn't help the feeling of joy bubbling up in his chest as reminding himself of his accomplishment.

He's well on his way to becoming a hero.

"Time to get to work."

.........................................................…

Not even an hour later and Izuku had put away his items to best suit his personal taste. It really wasn't anything big or fancy, but it was all he needed.

He stood on one foot while leaning up against the door; inspecting the small space that he would be occupying for the next 4 years of his life (considering that he doesn't get expelled for whatever reason before then).

*knock knock knock knock*

Izuku not only heard the knocking sound but felt the vibrations on the door he was leaned up against. The teen turned around and opened the door. His green pupils landed on the very vibrant red color of spiky hair with crimson eyes to match. Izuku didn't even need to give a second glance at his facial expression to tell that this boy had a fiery attitude.

"What's up, dude?" His tone of voice was cheery and all around friendly.

"Uum, nothing much. Do you need something?" Izuku asked the boy as he was curious as to why he would knock on his door of all people.

"We're all getting together down in the main room to prepare a get-to-know-ya or something like that for when everyone else arrives. You in?" It was unfamiliar to Izuku to hear someone so hopeful for his presence.

He almost wished he could feel the same way.

Despite the kind attitude he had, Izuku was skeptical. To be put in a room with a bunch of other teenagers that had who knows what going on in their mind sounded like Aldera all over again. All it would take would be one comment or move from either side to make things go south faster than Izuku could keep it from happening.

Dealing with his peers for half a day five days of the week, he could deal with that. Living with other potential harassers and bullies would surely drive him insane. If anything, he was at a loss. If he did go, then he could just end up living through 4 years of hell. If he didn't, then people might get ideas that could strike Izuku as the strange and isolated one.

Not that he wasn't slightly isolated, but still.

'Oooooh, fuck it.'

"Yeah, sure. I'll come." Izuku didn't sound to enthusiastic about it. Probably because he really wasn't. Not that the red-haired boy seemed to notice, or he just didn't care.

"Alright, sweet! See ya down there. I gotta go see if anyone else wants to go." The boy flashed a toothy smile which Izuku was able to realize the shark-like teeth he had before waving off and moving further down the hall.

Izuku returned his own version of a wave that looked more half-assed than anything before sighing to himself. Well, he said that he was going to go; might as well stay true to his word. The short walk and elevator ride were one of silence and anticipation.

A ding filled his ears that was soon replaced by the sounds of voices and multiple conversations going on at once. The main dorm room that Izuku was in not an hour earlier was packed with about 15 kids all his age. One or two of them, Izuku was able to recognize from the entrance exam.

The rest were all unfamiliar faces that represented the figures that took all shapes and sizes. The very tall and well-built boy with six arms was no exception to this. All around, he was seeing students with unique traits and personalities.

Another male with short blond hair casually used his large muscular tail as a seat while talking to a second blond with a black lighting bolt in his hair. A full set of girl's clothes was floating next to the black ponytail haired girl that he saw earlier; a voice chatting excitedly from the former. Probably an invisibility quirk.

Easily standing out in the crowd with his peppermint colored hair was a boy who was sitting further of from the main crowd in the dining room with his arms crossed and an expression that oozed with isolation.

*sigh*

And then there was the little guy with purple balls for hair. Izuku already didn't like the twerp as he realized that after following his hungry gaze towards the girls that he was going to be a problem.

The greenette only needed to look around for another second before he foresaw a painful year; whether his new classmates were bad or not.

'Well, shit.'

Bakugo sat in the armchair with an unapproachable posture. His tightly crossed arms and nasty scowl turned away any who tried to introduce themselves.

At least, that's what Izuku figured to have been going on before he found the blonde's red eyes fixated onto Izuku's green pupils. For what was way longer than to be comfortable, they stared at one another with ferocity; the explosive teen fighting back the urge to jump up and wipe the floor with the black-eyed boy who could feel his bones raging underneath his skin.

This intense staring contest ended with a single sentence.

"Oh my gosh! Black eye buddies!"

Izuku jumped where he stood as he turned his head to face the incoming girl. The first details that he was able to make out were her pink skin and light rosy hair that was similarly styled to his own. In the midst of it were two antenna-like horns that crowned the girl. The next feature he found explained the reasoning behind her previous exclaim.

Her dark sclera popped the golden irises that shown proudly in her eyes. The only difference was that one could see her dark sclera. Izuku knew this very quickly as the girl was right up in his face while gleefully talking about things that were a little too fast for Izuku to make out.

"Whoa! Okay, hold on for a sec, would ya?" Izuku leaned back as far as he dared while raising his hand up in a surrender position to hold back the bubbly teen. Thankfully, she seemed to comply with his request, albeit it was only slightly as she backed away just a bit but continuing on with her relentless chatter.

"It's so cool how your eyes look like that! I've never seen anyone else with black eyes other than my family. But unlike my family and I, yours glow a really cool green. Why do they do that?" The girl rapid fired each word that blended into the next. It was beyond Izuku how he was able to understand it.

"U-um thanks. I don't really know why they glow. It just… does." The boy hoped that he weak attempt at a response was enough to tame the girl's wild behavior. Although, he couldn't complain too much. He would much rather have this sort of interaction than being negatively judged.

"Oh well. Anyway, I'm Mina Ashido, but you can call me Mina." The pink girl quickly declared after holding out a hand in the gesture of a handshake.

'Already on a first name basis? Either she's taking this 'black eye buddy' think too seriously or she's just like this with everyone.'

"Izuku Midoriya." The greenette took hold of her hand with his and wasn't really surprised when she put a lot more energy into the bouncy handshake she gave.

"Midoriya, you made it!" Both black-eyed teens turned to see the same brown-haired girl that Izuku saved during the entrance exam walking towards with just as much as excitement in her step as the first. The boy actually felt excitement himself at seeing a more familiar face that didn't want to blow his ass up.

"Yeah, it's good to see that you did too. Uraraka, right?" His response was genuine to which she hummed a confirmation. Despite the odd first encounter between the two, Izuku didn't think she was half bad. This time, he met her hand just as she did into a kind greeting.

"Oh? You two already know each other?" Mina asked after watching the interaction.

"Sssort of." Izuku dragged out the first part of his answer as to properly answer her question. It was sort of a yes and no when it came to their acquaintance.

"We met each other in the entrance exam. We were in the same battle center." Uraraka came up with a much better response to Mina's question. "I'm Ochako Uraraka by the way." The brunette then extended a hand to which the pinkette immediately took.

"Hmp. Sounds like fate if I ever heard it. I'm Mina Ashido, but you can call me Mina." She told Uraraka with a seemingly undying aura of cheery excitement. From what Izuku could see, the latter was able to match it with her innocent bubbliness as the two instantly fell into conversation.

The greenette hummed his small amusement that didn't show on his face. Until he can figure out exactly who to trust, he'll keep on the downlow. But if everyone here is like those two girls, then he's going to have a much better four years than he initially thought. He just might have to learn to deal with a rowdy bunch, but it's worth it.

Suddenly, Izuku's neck jerked in an uncomfortable way. His quirk forced him to turn hard to the right for no apparent reason. It hurt enough that it caused Izuku to rub that back of his neck while silently cursing to his annoying little demon.

At first, he just chalked it up to be a random push for control. If that were the case, then it would be one hell of a coincidence for him to meet the gaze of another student. Somehow, it was until then that Izuku had noticed him. His physical features made his stand out quite well in the gathering of teens.

A head that resembled a crow was tilted downwards and slightly turned away from Izuku made him think that he was simply fitting into the crowd. It was the large red eye that stared at him that said it was something much more.

Wide, alert, defensive, and even fearful were all present only in his eyes as he looked straight into Izuku's voids. It was only for a moment that they looked to one another before he felt his entire body tense under a building thrash from his quirk.

To anyone else in the room, it would merely look like Izuku was suddenly cold from the way he shook if you looked close enough. It was only he that could witness the inner turmoil of the fight for control. As quickly as it came, it was gone; the unseen battle ended only to leave an aching feeling all across his body.

A quick use of his power that he could handle, and it too was gone.

But the worry was still there.

"May I have everyone's attention, please!?" Before Izuku could even attempt to recover or find out what had caused the reaction in the first place, his eyes are directed to the one who had called out from the group that had become silent. It was the same dark blue-haired teen with glasses that had his arm raised up high for everyone to see. "Now that everyone is here, we can begin the assembly of getting to know one another. Come gather around." Looking throughout the group, he indeed got a headcount of 20 figures including himself.

All of the students only hesitated for a moment before moving over to form a sort of a circle around the two large couches using some of the chairs from the dining room. Izuku was here now, so there was no backing out. He headed over and grabbed a chair for himself as there were no more room on the two large sofas that held at least half the class.

He found a decent spot along the shifty circle and sat down while trying to get comfy. It was a strange ordeal of events having to attend a social group just after having an invisible throwdown.

"Now then, I think that it would beneficial for us as current students of UA and future heroes that we learn to get along." A few teens nodded to the boy's statement. "A simple way to give our class a jumpstart to trust and dependency is to give ourselves an introduction. I urge that we all tell your names, an interesting fact about yourself, and your quirk. Does that sound good?" His question was answered by a few more nods and vocal agreements. A majority of the class even looked interested about learning of their peers.

Izuku, however, wasn't all that willing to comply. He could easily give his name and he had a couple good interesting facts. But to tell his quirk!? …. Shit.

"Good. I'll go first then. I am Tenya Iida; pleased to meet you all. An interesting fact about myself is that I enjoy a nice day to delve myself into my studies or take runs with my brother. My quirk is a speed enhancement which originates from the engines in my calves called 'Engine'." At this, Iida lifts up one pant leg to reveal the set of six short exhaust pipes on each leg. Some who saw this hummed with interest before the tall teen spoke again. "Would anybody like to go next?"

"Oh! Me, me! I'll go!" Everyone quickly turned to the exciting presence of Mina. "My name's Ashido Mina, but you're all welcome to call me which ever. Something interesting about me is that I won every single dance competition in my school." At the end of her sentence, Izuku saw the same red-haired boy slightly nod next to here with a knowing fearful look that invaded his smile. "Also, my quirk is called 'Acid' which let me secrete acid from all over my body." There was an equal amount of reactions to her introduction.

"I suppose I'll go next. Hey everyone; I'm Hanta Sero. An interesting fact is that I once pranked a friend in middle school by using my quirk to strap them to the ceiling. Said quirk is called 'Tape'. From my elbows, I'm able to shoot out super strong tape." Sero held out his elbows for everyone to see. They were an odd shape that had small slits where Izuku figured the tape would shoot out of.

"I'm Denki Kaminari, everyone. An interesting fact is that I'm interesting." The blond teen then proceeded to make finger guns while clicking his tongue. The reactions of the class were very half and half. One side snickering to themselves and the others rolling their eyes. "My quirk is 'Electrification'. It allows me emit electricity from my body in sizeable volts.

"Hey, guys. I'm Toro Hagakure. My interesting fact was that I've been invisible since the day I was born. I'm one of those rare cases of being born with an active quirk. It's called 'Invisibility' which is pretty self-explanatory." Despite being able to only see the pair of clothes, it was easy to tell how animatic the girl was when she talked.

"Allow me to introduce my dazzling self. I am known as Yuga Aoyama. What you all must know about me is that I always twinkle. Quite the perfect matchup with my shining power. From my belly button, I can produce a gorgeous beam named 'Navel Laser'." The blond boy with bright blue eyes was without a doubt very self-respective and wasn't afraid to show it off. Now that Izuku thought about it, he remembered seeing him in the same battle center as he.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Rikido Sato. My interesting fact is that I like to bake. At first, it was just a way to test with my quirk, but later came a hobby that I enjoyed. It's called 'Sugar Rush' and whenever I ingest sugar, I get really strong." The largely built boy sitting directly to Izuku's left appeared to be one of those friendly giants. His big statue looked intimidating, but he was in fact much nicer when he spoke.

"Ochako Uraraka. Nice to meet all of you. Uum, there aren't too many cool things about me, but my parents own a company. By touching something with all five of the pads on the ends of my fingers, I'm able to diminish the weight of anything I touch; basically, making it float around. My quirk is called 'Zero Gravity'." She was just as friendly and kind in her speech just as she was in the short amount to time that Izuku's known her.

"My name is Momo Yaoyorozu. It is a pleasure to be here with you all. An interesting fact about myself is that I am in fact the daughter of the owners of the Yaoyorozu enterprises." The name clicked inside of Izuku's mind as he knew of the large impact the Yaoyorozu's had in the hero society with their huge support and funding. "My quirk is 'Creation'. By using the lipids in my body, I am able to make anything inorganic as long as I know its structure." Among the class, there were a few murmurs to hear of such a versatile power.

"You all can call me Minoru Mineta, but the ladies can call me anytime." Izuku was far from the only one to groan disappointingly at the little pervert's 'pickup line'. But even so, no one said anything, and he continued on. "Something you all should know is that I'm quite the charmer once you get to know me." Somehow, Izuku seriously doubted that. "My quirk is called 'Popoff' which lets me to produce these sticky balls that make up my hair and pull them off." With his description, It made Izuku question how he managed to destroy the robots at the entrance exam. Then again, he should be wondering the same thing about Hagakure who only had invisibility on her side.

"I'm Tsuyu Asui, but you can call me Tsu. An interesting fact about me is that my quirk makes me really like rain and swimming. It's called 'Frog' which pretty much lets me do anything a frog can." A girl with large wide eyes and forest green hair similar to Izuku's spoke with a croaky voice. Everyone was just about to move on to the next before Izuku caught a glimpse of girl glancing towards him before quickly looking away.

'Strange.'

"I'm Mashirao Ojiro, everyone. My interesting fact is that I've won over a dozen trophies in martial arts. The large fifth limb that you see behind me makes it pretty obvious that my quirk is called 'Tail'." Ojiro looked to be a moderately built boy with a lighter shade of blond hair that matched the tuft of hair on the end of his tail.

"It's so great to meet all of you! I'm Eijiro Kirishima, and an interesting fact about me is that I love anything that's manly!" Just as he was before, the redhead was filled with fire. He had a bit of strange interest, but Izuku won't judge. "It's pretty simple, but my quirk is 'Harden'. When I activate it, my entire body becomes as hard as a rock." It was indeed a simple quirk, but a rather effective one. Izuku wondered what was harder; the boy's skin or his bones.

"My name is Mezo Shoji. A fact about me that's interesting is that I never lost an arm-wrestling contest. It's thanks to my quirk that gives me two extra pairs of arms that I can then change the ends of into different sensory organs such as mouths, ears, tongue, or even a foot. It's called 'Dupli-Arms'." Everyone blinked at the very unique power he possessed. They all easily believed him too as one of his several hands was instead a mouth that spoke rather than the one hidden behind the mask he wore.

"Sup; Kyoka Jiro. I really like music. That's my interesting fact. As you can see, my quirk gives me earphone jacks on the lobes of my ears. I can use them to hear far better by plugging them into walls. It also gives me a better sense of hearing overall. The name of my quirk is also 'Earphone Jack'." It was the same girl that passed by Izuku at the front entrance. Her fact matched up with the guitar case that she brought along with her.

"I am Fumikage Tokoyami." It was the guy that had looked at him weirdly from before. Izuku deeply hoped that there was some explanation behind his reaction to the greenette. "What's interesting about me is that most people commonly mistake my hair for feathers."

'Wait… those actually aren't feathers' Izuku thought to himself; unknown to the fact that everyone one else in the classroom had asked the same question in their mind.

"My quirk is named 'Dark Shadow' as it is also the name of the manifestation of my quirk. It allows me to summon a being of dark energy that is both powerful and sentient. Because of this, it requires control and teamwork between the both of us. Due to the shared aspects of it, we both are able to sense certain things that most other people wouldn't." At the end of his explanation, Tokoyami cast a quick glance back to Izuku.

'oh... oooh'

After that, it became momentarily silent. The very few students that were left hardly moved in their seats as the rest search for the next volunteer. Slowly but surely, the large kid with the unique head shape perked up to gain the attention of the group.

In a weak whisper, he uttered…

"K-koji…Ko-koda. I like a-animals, and I-I-I can speak to th-them using my quirk; 'A-Ani-Voice'." His introduction was short, but everyone could understand his shyness. Sero; who was sitting next to Koda, gave him a reassuring pat on the back.

It became silent once more. 17 students have gone, so only 3 were left; Izuku being one of them. The other two were Bakugo who looked like he was enduring a big waste of his time and the bi-colored hair boy who had not moved in inch from his seat.

Surprisingly, he was the one to speak.

"Shoto Todoroki. Youngest sibling. Quirk is called 'Half-Cold Half-Hot'. Allows me to use both ice on my right and fire on my left." Again, another short one. However, this one was more rather of disinterest rather than bad social skills. Izuku as well as a few others were able to recognize his last name and traced him back to be the son of the #2 hero; Endeavor.

This is sure to being interesting.

It was only Izuku and Bakugo left. The entire class was looking between the two; waiting for either to speak up. The greenette should have known that it would have come to this.

Well, here goes nothing.

"Tch. Katsuki Bakugo. All you extras need to know is that I'm not here to make friends. My goal is be #1, so stay out of my way. My quirk is 'Explosion' and is far better than any of yours." In an instant, the mood of the room changed from friendly to a tense dispute.

Nearly everyone was staring at the sandy-blond teen with disbelief for how rude and insulting someone could be in less than 10 seconds.

Izuku was surprised for a different reason, however. Bakugo didn't smirk as he usually did when boasting about himself to others. Instead, it was a scowl.

"Bakugo! That kind of attitude towards your fellow classmates is highly inappropriate for a UA student!" It didn't take Iida long before he was chastising the blond. "I say that it would be in everyone's best interest that you apologize." As he spoke, the teen's hand chopped up and down like an old robot dance move.

"Please try not to take anything he says seriously." With one sentence, all eyes were on Izuku who was as of yet to speak this entire time. "Just think of him as a self-arrogant toddler. After all, he acts like it." He heard a number of gasps from the students around him and a few others 'oooing' to themselves.

"The fuck'd you say, shitbag!?" Bakugo's tone was hardly what you would call an inside-voice. "You wanna go again!?" He jumped up from his seat with spreading his hands outward; fingers curling around the controlled pops of his quirk.

"Last time I checked; you lost that fight." Izuku quickly countered. In hindsight, it wasn't exactly the best idea to aggravate the red-eyed teen. However, there was a big issue that Izuku couldn't ignore. He could handle Bakugo bullying him. But to do it to others is a strict no-no in his book.

"Tch!" A hiss of anger from Bakugo signaled the start of a tense standoff for several seconds. The entire time, everyone watched with stunned eyes; all waiting for what would happen next. Even Iida who looked to have a hold on the situation wasn't sure what to do.

The only sound was of the blonde's growing cracks and pop that raised in volume and frequency. At this point, other students had arisen from their seats; ready to intervene through physical effort as words were no longer going to solve this outburst.

The small explosions in Bakugo's hands all died at once as they were extinguished in his clenched fists. He gave a menacing growl before taking large steps to stand directly in front of Izuku. The blond looked down at the greenette who still sat in his chair but was ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.

Then, the antagonize jutted out a finger to point down at the sitting boy.

"We're at UA now, Deku. We'll truly see who's better. Got that?" His voice was low, but still seething with rage. Both teens stared with dangerous eyes at another for a another second.

"Can't wait." Izuku's voice came to match his aggressor's.

Bakugo released another growl before walking around him and stomping back towards the dorm rooms. Once he was out of sight, it was safe to say that he left a very uncomfortable and awkward atmosphere behind. All but Izuku had wondering eyes filled with confusion and concern; looking to one another to find an answer that no one had.

It came to be a sudden urge that Uraraka stood from her seat. She intended to go over and check to see if he was alright.

She never got that chance.

Just as she did, Izuku stood at the same time.

"I… apologize for bringing our… problems to all of you. Just know that he's a very difficult person to interact with." It was all that Izuku felt was necessary to say.

He turned and walked away. No one tried to stop him; no one that he could see anyway.

As he walked off, Uraraka slowly lowered her hand that had attempted to reach out in defeat.

The walk back to his dorm room felt even shorter than before as Izuku's mind felt clouded. Before her knew it, he was sitting on the edge of his bed with his elbows on his knees.

The feeling that he had ruined his chance plagued his mind for the rest of the day.

.........................................................…

Izuku woke up to a first. The ceiling above his head was not that of he had grown up to and the bed he lay in was not the same as his own. A few blinks to fade away his sleepiness brought the dark room into a clearer picture. He sat up and observed his surroundings.

"Oh, that's right. UA." The very edge of his usual excitement when it came to his dream school had been replaced by a sense of foreboding. The things that happened late yesterday were sure to have some effect in future times. Most likely sooner than he hoped. And as always, Bakugo was the source of the problem.

Giving a huff, he looked over to find his alarm clock sitting on the small stand behind his head. The numbers that it read showed were a little confusing to him at first. If he remembered correctly, didn't class start in just…

"Fuck!"

In one move, Izuku had leapt out of his bed and straight to his dresser. Only seconds have passed before he was already mostly dressed in his UA uniform. He had no time to enjoy the soft texture it brought as he rushed out the door with all his supplies that he snatched along the way.

Turns out, Izuku had stupidly forgotten to set his alarm clock the day before. Because of his dumb moping session after retreating to his room, he went straight to bed and ignored any other tasks. Izuku hated to admit it, but even he could be an idiot sometimes.

He rushed down to the main room where he found not a single student other than himself. They all must have left already. Before he could go for the exit, something caught his nose. The room smelt of sweetness. Taking a quick glance towards the kitchen he found dirty dishes and used ingredients. Sitting just a little further away by itself was a single plate with something on it.

Letting curiosity and morning hunger get the best of him, he investigated to find what looked to be a pancake if he remembered American breakfast correctly.

Didn't someone say something about baking?

Not now, questions for later.

Izuku snagged the fluffy food item and began munching on it while on the go. The short run towards the main campus proved nothing to the efficiently self-trained greenette as he burst through the front doors and down the halls. He stuffed the last bite into his mouth just as he spotted the sign saying 1-A above a freakishly large door.

Good, that meant he still had time to play with. By no means was he going to be late on his first day.

Scratch that, the large yellow… thing laying in front of the entrance now had his full attention.

For a solid minute, Izuku just stood there with inspecting eyes that tried to identify what sounded like it was mumbling to itself. It was… starting to get a little strange; not that it wasn't already strange before. Izuku was thinking about maybe just stepping over it and getting to class without gaining its attention.

Apparently, that wasn't going to work either.

The large caterpillar-shaped form rolled over just enough to reveal an actual face staring up at Izuku. His first thought upon seeing the condition of the neutral look was that a hobo had somehow made his way onto school grounds. The massive dark bags under his eyes looked way to unhealthy for any human being. Out from what Izuku was able to figure out to be a sleeping bag, strands of long unkept black hair lay across the floor and partially over his face.

Izuku felt bad to be honest. He couldn't just leave him here. Actually, how did this man even get here? The teen crouched down to where he was more level with the dark tired eyes that continued to watch him.

"Um, sir? Do you need help with something?" He asked with the hopes that this could all be solved as smoothly as possible and still make it to class on time.

"Yeah. Open the door." His answer was so blunt and unexpected that Izuku had to process it for a second.

"Open… the door?" The greenette echoed the words to make sure that he didn't mishear anything.

"Yes. So that I may teach my class; including you, Midoriya." Once again, his answer put Izuku at a loss. This… sad looking individual was their homeroom teacher? There was a brief pause between their conversation as Izuku just blinked bewildered at the sight.

"O-oh, okay. Sure, I can- I can do that." At this point, Izuku just decided to roll with it rather than question it further. He stood back to his full height and reached over to the door. A simple push had opened the class to the both of them. Well, to the man anyway. Izuku was off to the side and could only hear the several voices of chatter from within.

It was only a second of the door being opened that it all died down upon having a similar reaction to Izuku.

With movements that looked too practiced, the man maneuvered inside the room like an actual caterpillar and disappeared from sight. In the span of a minute, Izuku's rushed morning was slowed by a hobo/hero? That then proceeded to wiggle his way into class. This was by far the most bizarre morning Izuku had ever experienced.

"-Put these on and meet me outside." Izuku snapped back into his thoughts just as he heard the man finish his order. A second later and the man popped around the corner to look back at Izuku. "That means you too. Quit wasting time and get in here."

A really strange morning.

.........................................................…

"A quirk assessment test!?" The question was collectively said by the whole class in a chorus.

It was after an uneventful and silent changing process in the locker rooms that then brought himself out to where their teacher had requested them to be. Standing before them was the same man that had not changed his neutral/bored expression. It was after overhearing a small conversation from some of his classmates that he learned of the man's name; Shota Aizawa.

He wore thick clothing that could be easily mistaken for normal winter clothing which was just as black as his hair. Around his neck looked to be an extremely long and thin scarf that wrapped around enough to reach up to his chin.

"Hold on, what about the orientation? Shouldn't we be going to that?" Uraraka was the one to voice everyone's confusion.

"No, we shouldn't." It was the singular stern answer from the man that caused everyone to bite their tongues. Somehow, even with his back turned to the class, he was just as intimidating "If your aiming to be in the big leagues; let alone even attempting to be a hero, then you should learn right now that pointless ceremonies are nothing but wastes of time. Unlike most schools, UA doesn't have a set tradition that tethers us down. That being said, I am able to teach my class however I see fit; efficiently and effectively." Despite the man making it sound like a threat rather than an answer, Izuku could understand where he was coming from. UA has trained many top heroes thanks to their specialized teaching methods.

"Because of that, I'm going to use it to my full advantage. So, we're going to be doing something that you've never done before." Several students perked up at the piece of news; curiosity gleaming in their eyes. "So far, all the standardized tests you've taken in your lives have been limited by not being able to use your quirk. The country still has the mindset that everyone is created equal, that everyone has just as much power as the last. Not only is this not rational, but it's also wrong. To prevent those with the most power to excel is a problem within our community. The ministry of education is still catching up to modern day, but that doesn't excuse their negligence to correct the unstable system we currently have." All around, the teens were absorbing every bit of information their teacher told them. It was an early lesson to learn about how the world is working at the moment and how it's going to or should change.

"Bakugo." The owner of the name blinked at the sudden call of his name. "In the entrance exam, you got the highest score of villains points. You displayed adequate skill and use of your quirk. Tell me; what was your score on the softball throw in Junior High?" Everyone looked to Bakugo with mixed expressions. Some were of awe that the blond had been able to obtain such an impressive score. The others were of uncertainty as they remembered the walking timebomb personality he gave yesterday.

"67 meters I think." Bakugo answered. Izuku knew that he was right. He had seen for himself how the red-eyed teen threw farther than any other student. Intentionally, Izuku had held back in that test.

"Do you think you can get higher using your quirk?" Although Aizawa showed hardly any emotion, the tone of his question indicated that he already knew the answer.

"Without a doubt." A smug grin plastered itself across Bakugo's face. A few surrounding students subconsciously took a step back.

"Show me." With that command, Aizawa threw a softball that he had pulled from seemingly nowhere to Bakugo. The blond caught it with ease; the grin growing on his face.

He walked over to white circle that was a couple meters and started with a few arm stretches. Izuku knew all too well what was about to come and decided to throw his fellow classmates a bone here. He spread his arms out just enough for the ones next to him to see and begun to inch backwards; indicating that they should gain some distance.

No one was sure what to expect. All the knew was that Izuku was the only one to know Bakugo personally and that his quirk was called 'Explosion'.

They took another step backwards.

The explosive teen did one last stretch before taking position. He leaned back with his pitching arm held all the way behind him. In one movement, he stepped forward with his left foot and hurled the ball forward.

"DIIIIIEE!"

At the last moment of contact, Bakugo's hand erupted in a thunderous boom. The numbing sound was accompanied by a fiery blast of fire and smoke. The use of Bakugo's quirk created a powerful explosion that sent the ball kissing the sky; leaving a trail of smoke and even breaking the sound barrier in its wake.

The results were a class full of wide-eyed kids; a few having their ears covered from the dynamite that just went off.

"As students that are seeking to become heroes, it is essential that you learn of your maximum capabilities." In the far distance, everyone could see the tiny dot of the ball return back to the ground. A beep could be heard from the device that their teacher held in his hand before turning to face the class. "It's the only rational way if your aim is to truly be a pro." He held up the device to show the three-digit number.

705 meters.

There was a collective gasp from the group of teens. Bakugo merely spread his grin and raised his chin up higher. Izuku was the only one to really not be surprised by his results and instead snorted to himself from the behavior of the blond.

"Holy crap, 705 meters! Are you kidding me!? That's insane." Kaminari was one of the many to be in awe at the impressive feat of power.

"Oooo, I wanna go next! If we get to use our quirks, then this will be so much fun!" Mina was practically bouncing in place with eager in her eyes to test herself just as much as the others.

"Now this is what I'm talking about! Getting to be able to use our quirks is so cool!" Sero added on to the uproar of excitement and giddiness. While Izuku wasn't exactly one to agree with their reasons, he too was anticipating how well he would fair with where he was now.

He could feel his fingers twitching at random; the monster inside him getting riled up with the commotion. Then, something caught Izuku's eye.

Their teacher was grinning, and not in a good way.

"Oh, fun you say?" The class was brought to an immediate silence with fear trickling into their eyes. "You lot are going to be here for three years and you think that it's going to be fun? Well then, I think I'll join in on your little game. New rule; the person to come into last place in the quirk assessment test… will be expelled on the spot." Aizawa popped the last words of his statement. An intimidating aura could be felt coming from the man as he glared at the class who shivered in their shoes.

Was this really the same goofy man that Izuku saw rolling on the ground just 15 minutes ago? His presence is so much different than before. Now, Izuku was straining to keep his hands still as they threatened to get a hold of whatever was close.

"What!? Y-you can't just expel someone on the first day! We've all already- "Uraraka attempted to reason with the hero's harsh judgment but found the piercing gaze of black eyes too much to challenge. "Eep!" The brunette quickly clamped both her hands over her mouth and hoping that would be the end of it.

"Like I already said; I have full capability to rule my class however I wish. I can assign double the homework if I choose to do so. I can switch you between classes as I please. The power to expel each and every one of you right here and now is ultimately up to my decision. If anyone here has a problem with that then they can head home right now." It felt bittersweet to hear these words. 1-A knew that they had no say over what Aizawa could or couldn't do. The only thing they had on their side was themselves. The hero lifted a hand with the back of it faced towards them. Then, with his pointer finger out, he gave a gesture of them to follow. "Now, who wants to go first?"

.........................................................…

*50 Meter Dash*

"Midoriya, Bakugo. You're up." The two teens met their teacher's eyes as he called them up to the runner's spot.

'Of course I would get paired with him.' Was Izuku's only thought as he casually walked over to the starting line. He had been previously keeping to himself most of the time as more students raced one after another. He did however know that Iida had the best one so far as his quirk was made for speed with his time being 3.24 seconds. Izuku didn't think he could quite match that, but he sure as hell is going to try.

He got to the starting point and took the chance to do some stretches. Bakugo was coming up just behind him and got straight down into position to run. The greenette just sighed to himself before getting down next to him.

"I told you, Deku. We're gonna see who's truly better here." Bakugo grumbled just loud enough for Izuku to hear. Neither of them even looked at each and kept their eyes on the path ahead of them. It was only Izuku who knew of his shifting legs that left nothing but bone all the way up to the middle of his thighs.

"Runner, on your marks!" All the way down at the track, a robot was set up to record their scores to pinpoint accuracy. "Ready…" Both boys set themselves into full preparation to bolt the moment they heard the signal.

*BEEP*

The high-pitched ring from the machine caused both teens to leap into action.

Bakugo did this in a literal sense as he thrust his hands back and activated his quirk in a continuous stream of explosions. The relentless knockback of those explosions resulted in a large amount of forward force as Bakugo blasted down the track. He was completely sure of himself that he had left Izuku in the dust. The blond wanted to see the defeat on the freak's face.

So, he turned his head to do just that.

He didn't need to look far as Izuku was right next to him.

"What!?" In the split-second that Bakugo was caught off guard, Izuku had pushed a small amount of more power into his last step as he dashed over the finishing line; a noticeable distance has been created between the two.

"3.99 seconds!"

"4.13 seconds!"

Izuku stuck out one leg far in front of the other as he skids across the ground for a few feet and slowing him down until coming to a complete stop. Bakugo was just behind him; doing a similar process and stopping just next to the greenette.

As soon as he did, Bakugo sent his rageful glare to the other boy. Izuku returned the gaze without any emotion. Before the two could go into a full-on staring contest, the black-eyed student walked away without so much as a word; Bakugo watching him all along the way with disbelief storming his mind.

"Tch!"

*Grip Strength*

Thankfully, Izuku didn't have to compete with anyone in this test. But that didn't change the fact that he had gotten some curious looks when he began to activate his quirk in his right hand.

"Whoa, Midoriya. That's your quirk?" Kirishima's claim had gained the attention of many other students as they looked to see what most were wondering about. Since Midoriya had left yesterday before telling about himself, it was natural for them to take the chance now and see for themselves.

"U-um, Ye-yeah. It let me do some… modifications with my body, or something like that." This was still very difficult for Izuku to properly explain his quirk. He had kept it hidden his entire life and to just know suddenly share it around was something he was not used to. Some of the teens around him that had heard his answer all gained confused expression at his strange response.

Well, if he couldn't explain it very good, then he'll just show them.

Around the device that he held; his bones were shifting to form into their stronger counterparts. His skeletal hand became thicker with density and his fingers grew to edged point-like claws. The small crowd around him all widened their eyes as they witnessed the bizarre sight. Although, none of them exactly freaked out as Izuku initially thought they would.

Sure, some looked a little squeamish to see that his lively flesh was fully exposed in the middle of his forearm, but it was rather of interest than repulsiveness; namely Mina who Izuku knew enough to know that she wasn't actually disgusted.

This… this wasn't near as bad as Izuku expected. His classmates were closely watching as the number on the scale slowly and slowly rose.

"Oh! Shoji, he's gonna beat yours!" Sero called out next to the six-armed teen who was also watching at this point.

"Keep going, Midoriya!" Uraraka cheered excitedly at his side. Was this… was this what it felt like to have friends? For people to root for him while not being judged. Izuku knew that wasn't how the world worked, but after growing up with it, it was hard to imagine what it was like on the other side. Before Izuku knew it, he suspected a faint curl at the corners of his lips.

As the number slowly rose higher and higher, he looked across his small audience.

Further back and more hidden from the rest, Izuku's eyes landed on Tokoyami. His expression was similar to that of yesterday but milder. Hovering above his shoulder, the greenette got his first look at 'Dark Shadow'.

*Crack*

Izuku's attention was brought back to the scale in his hand. Around him, his classmates all had bewildered eyes as they trailed over the many cracks and breaks along the frame. The number on it was no longer visible as there was instead an 'error' flashing on the screen.

"Damn, Midoriya! I have no clue how your quirk works, but it's hella strong!" Kaminari slapped a hand onto Izuku's shoulder as he and the rest gave affirmative nods.

"O-oh. Thanks. I don't think Aizawa is gonna like that I broke school equipment, but the compliment is welcome." Izuku let a small grimace come over his face as he and everyone else turned to said teacher.

The greenette couldn't help but slightly flinch at the annoyed glare he was receiving from the adult. But even so, he said nothing and walked off.

"Never mind then." Izuku said to himself. He looked back down to the scale he still held. It was more rather at his skeletal arm that grabbed the greenette's focus. By no means did Izuku mean to break the device. However, the moment he saw Tokoyami's quirk, it made him entire arm jolt with force.

He doesn't know what that means just yet, but Izuku could already tell that there would be future complications.

*Standing Long Jump*

For this one, Izuku simply used his quirk the same way he did in the 50-meter run. No one other than himself knew of the transformation undergoing in his pants. The feeling of his muscle and skin just vanishing without a trace came with the sensation of regained power.

Izuku took his position and leapt forward.

Despite his outward appearance looking rather normal, his strength output was undeniable as he cleared the entire sandpit from his legs shooting him off the ground like a spring. The boy landed with a solid thud which left Izuku feeling comfortable with his score.

He could see many other students excel in this trial. Todoroki using ice as a form of path to which he skated across and Bakugo using the propulsion of his explosions to sail him across.

*Repeated Side-Steps*

At the halfway mark were the repeated side-steps. Izuku didn't really have any way for him to have a huge disadvantage other than his own strength and practice doing this exercise before while training himself.

"You're next, Midoriya." Aizawa called out to the greenette.

Izuku stepped into the right spot and waited for the signal. He had already shifted his legs the moment he heard his name called. As soon as he heard the chirping beep of the robot, Izuku did just as everyone else had done. For the entire time of the exercise, he kept a steady pace that didn't slow one bit.

His score was far above average and even placed him forth as Iida, Bakugo, and even the little perv; Mineta did just better than him.

*Ball throw*

"…"

"…"

"… So… can anyone see it?" Hagakure's question was responded with several 'no's'. They were all having trouble searching for the ball that had left Uraraka's hand nearly a minute ago.

"That's because it's currently still sailing for the ionosphere as we speak." Everyone looked to Aizawa who was eyeing the device in his hand. After a pause, he turned it around to show it to the class. Where numbers were supposed to be, the infinity symbol took its place.

"Infinity!? How the heck is that possible!?" Kaminari exclaimed among the crowd as he and Kirishima looked to one another with disbelieving eyes.

"I don't know, man! But it's super freaking manly!" The red-haired boy burst into excitement with an impressed smile spreading across his face.

"You can congratulate each other once we're done." Aizawa cast a glare to the class that quickly silenced themselves as to not evoke their teacher's ire. "Good. Midoriya."

"Yes, sir." Izuku took his softball and walked over to the circle. Behind him, he heard one or two shouts of encouragement from the others as they have been for all the other tests. He really was just another student here.

Izuku didn't waste time with stretches this time as he was already warmed up at this point. Instead, he focused on the feeling of his quirk surging across his right arm. In just seconds, the entirety of it was reduced to a perfectly intact skeletal frame; stopping just below his shoulder. Just as he did for the grip strength test, he furthered the transformation.

His bones became larger and became somewhat deformed to that of a human's. Stumped fingertips elongated as they curled around the ball in his hand into points. He could feel the released power within his arm arising to bid to Izuku's will.

Well, most of his will. The inevitable spasm that came with only lasted a second as Izuku has learned to keep the cage shut tight on his rebellious quirk. The sound of his own calming breaths filled the surrounding quietness that filled the area. Everyone behind Izuku didn't make a sound as to not break his concentration.

The greenette tapped into every bit of power he could muster without risking his control. He wanted to summon that surge of power he got during the entrance exam. But no matter what, his quirk simply resisted his command.

Looks like this is as good as its going to get.

Izuku stood back on his right foot with the toes of his left grazing the ground. He reached his right arm as far back as he possibly could in preparation to hurl the ball as far as he possibly could. The boy wasn't expecting anything grand compared to infinity or even Bakugo's 705 meters. But that didn't mean he could hold back.

In a burst of power, Izuku lurched his left foot forward along with his right arm not too far behind. Despite not having any muscles in his skeletal limb, he flexed his power to the maximum in order to send the ball flying.

His left foot slammed into the ground.

Then…

The world went dark faster than he could blink.

"…Uuum… what the heck is going on?" Mineta asked a good question; a question that no one had the answer to.

They all looked over at the figure of Izuku standing within the circle; looking frozen in time. The moment that he had set his foot down, he had just… stopped. It was as if he was suspended in a statue-like state. His skeletal arm that held the ball above his head was just the same. It happened so fast that it was hard to comprehend. Either way, it was disturbing to witness.

"Aizawa-sensei. Shouldn't you go check on him? He might be hurt." Sato as well had no clue for what caused the scene before him. He as well as everyone else hoped that their teacher had some idea.

Speaking of teacher, Aizawa wasn't sure what to make of this either. He figured that the flesh around Izuku's arm deform and regenerate its lost muscles and other organic compounds. Never has he gotten this type of reaction from erasing someone's quirk before. His glowing red eyes stared confused at the motionless boy.

Previously, Aizawa was annoyed with the black-eyed child. So far, his results for the quirk assessment test have been far above average and easily keeping his place in the top 5 if not top 3. However, the hero knew that he was holding back. What he saw during the entrance exam was on a whole new level compared to the feeble attempts he was doing now. If this boy thought that he could restrain himself in his class, then he would quickly learn of the consequences of not being rational.

But now, this was something different. Due to being closer than his students, only he could see the disappearance of Izuku's pupils. That… was a first. Basing his findings on that logic, his eyes were a source of some sort. With that fact, Izuku's quirk was his eyes. However, that didn't clearly explain why he was now trapped in a frozen posture and how his transformation was able to sustain itself.

And it especially didn't explain why there were now cracks forming around his black voids.

Aizawa related that physical feature to be the same as when Izuku shifted all his limbs and attacked the zero-pointer. How was it working when he was erasing the boy's quirk? What is this boy's quirk. It was suspicious to the hero when his file was vague and very misleading. The thought of simply turning the greenette away just because of that fact came up when he and the rest of the teachers were grading their results.

But for whatever reason, that damn All Might convinced him otherwise as he was for whatever reason interested in the teen.

Movement.

Aizawa narrowed his eyes after catching the single twitch of Izuku's left pointer finger. Then, his pinky flicked up before relaxing back down. One after another, each digit took its turn moving in random directions.

Jiro was just like the others; confused and curious. Nothing that any of them would say got any reactions from either their teacher or their classmate. It was starting to get a little worrying if she was being honest.

And why the hell is Tokoyami's heart pounding so hard.

She turned to her left to see that he looked utterly terrified. His red eyes were full of panic and his entire body was shaking like a leaf. Just what the hell is actually going on?

Jiro returned her sights on the two in front of them.

As soon as she did, she saw the boy move.

Aizawa subconsciously tensed when he saw Izuku turn his head. It was only a minuscule amount, but it was noticeable. Something about all this wasn't right. Why did he feel like he was about to engage against a threat? His hero instincts that he's toned over the years were signaling that he needed to protect his students… from his student.

The cracks were getting longer on the boy's face; now reaching near the midpoint of his cheeks. His head moved again. This time, it was for much longer and faster.

Izuku was turning towards him.

Inch by inch, his face came more into view. The more it did, the quicker that Aizawa realized the dead expression he presented. There was absolutely no life in any of his facial features. Almost as if he were asleep and somehow sleepwalking. The tension was building so high that Aizawa didn't even notice the burn in his eyes after using his quirk for so long.

It finally came to the point where Izuku was mostly facing towards the man; both completely void eyes were trained right on him. He was still just at enough of an angle for the rest of the class to not be able to see what was going on and the hero figured that it would be better if it stayed that way.

In one single instance, the ball within his hand was crushed with pitiful resistance. The loud pop of the highly modified piece of equipment caused an involuntary reaction for him to blink.

The moment he did, everything went back to normal.

Izuku was just barely able to catch himself from falling forward. For whatever reason, his body felt suddenly weak and his vision was blurry. After a couple seconds of blinking away the dizziness in his eyes, he looked up to inspect his surroundings.

That's right. He was on the UA testing grounds. He was just about to do the softball pitch before…

"Midoriya." Izuku turned to where he had heard his name been called out. The source of the call was Aizawa who was giving him a strange look. Strangely enough, his eyes were red as if they were irritated. "What were you about to do?" The adult asked with no other emotion other than curiosity. Izuku though it was a weird question but answered anyway.

"I was about to throw the ball…" Izuku trailed off at the end of his sentence. The ball that he had in his hand was no longer there. Wait… did he already through it? That made absolutely zero sense-

Izuku moved his hand to the side. Looking just past it, he saw the crumpled pieces of what looked to be a softball on the ground. There were a few scattered electrical parts from within that no longer looked like they were at all functional.

Meanwhile, the students of 1-A were all looking at one another; trying to make sense of what they just witnessed. To most, it was only a very odd interaction between student and teacher.

But to one teen that could sense the boy's aura, it was a foolish man opening the door to a dark place.

Unknown to everyone there, Izuku very well was on the verge.

"Try again." Izuku turned just in time to catch a second ball in his hand. He looked at it then back to his teacher. "Now." The greenette didn't like how much of a sudden turn this took, but he wasn't going to argue.

In the end, Izuku repeated the process which he had done in the first place. Without any interruptions this time, he was able to complete the exercise with a powerful throw. Compared to many others, it was one of the higher scores, but not much to Bakugo's. Either way, 382 meters wasn't bad.

"Next." Aizawa said with any patience having been lost in the one-sided standoff.

*Sit-ups*

In this core endurance test, Izuku was the last to keep up his un-slowing pace. It was mainly due to his own physical strength, but he did use his quirk to recuperate his abs once or twice.

During that time…

"H-hey, Midoriya?" Uraraka sounded nervous. He didn't know why, but he felt it had something to do with his odd behavior during the ball throw. From his point of view, he just blacked out for a second before regaining conscious and finding a broken ball at his feet.

It was honestly worrying. He wasn't able to take time to himself just yet as he had a test to pass, but soon.

"Yeah, Uraraka?" He gave her the 'okay' for her to ask as he lifted himself up to meet her eyes before continuing his sit-ups. He spared a glance to see Bakugo growling to himself as he was struggling to do one last push before falling on his back.

"Um… never mind. Sorry to distract you." The brunette quickly dismissed herself before even making an effort to ask. She wanted to ask about why he had locked up like that, but maybe that wasn't the best idea right now.

"O…k?" Izuku really wasn't sure how to react to that. Anyone that has actually talked to him never dropped it like that. He didn't want to force her to talk so he let it go.

"Alright, you're done." Both teens looked up to Aizawa who had approached them.

"But I'm still going?" Izuku said back while not having lost any speed in his sit-ups.

"You're done. We're moving on." This time, the adult said it with a much more authoritative tone that made Izuku not want to talk back any time soon.

*Seated Toe-touches*

While Izuku was a bit more flexible than most of his peers, there were a few that did far better than he. Those mainly being Mina and Tsu.

Even so, he did fair.

*Long Distance Run*

This was it.

The last exercise of the test.

To be honest, Izuku was grateful. The twitches in his body were starting to get more frequent and violent. He's never suffered from quirk exhaustion before, but that didn't mean he didn't have drawbacks.

The entirety of class 1-A stood at one starting line. There were plenty who had fierce determination written in their expressions. For some, this was there last chance to ensure that they keep themselves from falling into last place.

"On your mark…"

Everyone got into their final poses to blast off from the starting point. For a final time, Izuku activated his quirk on his legs. This time brought a burning sensation as he has worn on his quirk control plenty today. But he wasn't done just yet.

*Beep*

In just a matter of seconds, large gaps have placed themselves between the class. At the very front was unsurprisingly Iida. Not behind him by very much were Bakugo, Izuku, Todoroki.

The blond of the pursuing trio was, of course, using concentrated explosions to aid him in his race. Izuku may have looked like he was plainly running (which he was), but he had more physical strength than maybe everyone else here; not to mention his endurance.

Todoroki on the other hand was beginning to pull ahead as he surfed along a rapidly forming glacier behind him.

From the looks of it, Iida would be taking his first place for all of the running events. He had managed to gain a near unreachable distance from the rest of his class. A good way behind him but way farther ahead of everyone else was Todoroki.

For an agonizingly long time, Izuku and Bakugo were tied amongst each other. The blond of the two was just too damn stubborn to let fatigue slow him down.

*beep beep*

Izuku perked up at the sound of a honk... A honk?

Both boys turned to see Yaoyorozu speeding along the track with a high-powered moped gliding her across the path. Izuku knew that she had a quirk that let her create anything but when the hell did she have the time to make that? The girl even wore a helmet that complimented the friendly grin she had.

"Later, boys." Was her only two words as he shot them a quick wave before zipping past them.

"Get the fuck back here, Ponytail!" Bakugo was obviously the one to shout demands as he called out to Yaoyorozu who paid him no mind. In fact, because he was temporarily distracted with the five second meet-n-greet, he failed to notice the greenette pulling ahead of him until it was too late. "Oi! Where the hell do you think you're going!?"

Izuku mentally smirked to himself as he crossed the finish line way before the cursing teen behind him. The moment he did, Izuku retuned the normal physique of his legs. The power it brought was sealed off, but it also replaced by comfort. Not a second later, Bakugo blasting across the line while coming to a hasty stop.

For probably the hundredth time that day, they locked challenging eyes. Just like the rest of the times, it was ended not too long after it started.

So far, it was Izuku, Bakugo, Iida, Todoroki, and Yaoyorozu that had managed to take the top five spots. A little while after, the last completed the race with a sweaty body and a greedy gasp for air.

Again, Izuku had no idea how Mineta managed to pass the entrance exam.

But with that, the quirk assessment test was over.

"Oh, by the way, no one is getting expelled."

Everyone stopped in their tracks as they all slowly turned to towards Aizawa with betrayed expressions. The hero actually had the audacity to grin at them.

.........................................................…

"You got 3rd, Midoriya. Congrats." Izuku opened his eyes and slightly turned to his right to see Uraraka peering down at him with a smile. He sat up a little bit straighter in the comfy chair to respond.

"Thanks, Uraraka. You didn't too bad yourself; nearly beat over half our class. 11th place is always a comfy spot to be in." Although he had no expressive emotion on his face, it was easier to tell that he was genuine by listening to his voice. She grew her smile by just a bit to be noticeable as she sat down on the couch that next to where he sat.

Class 1-A had been sent back to the dorm rooms after their teacher had dismissed them. It was after seeing their overall scores that they then freshened up from the tiring day. Now, it was just to themselves that they could spend it however they wanted to. Izuku had decided to spend his down in the main room along with everyone else. The only people missing were Bakugo, Todoroki, and Tokoyami.

For a while, the present students conversed among themselves. Most of which were excitedly talking about today's events. Because of that, it was only a matter of time before the question arose.

"Yo, Midoriya." The boy in question turned away from Shoji who he was having a light conversation with to look at Sero. Around him, a few others were also looking at him as if they knew what he was about to do. "What was that back there? During the softball pitch, you acted kinda strange." Now that he thought about it, Izuku was wondering the same thing. Better to answer that question with another question.

"What did I do?" He asked slowly. He was both cautious and curious as to what he might hear.

"Dude, you like… froze." Kirishima popped into the conversation with the best description that anyone else could give. It was so peculiar that no one could really better explain it. Meanwhile, Izuku felt the first drop of fear enter his stomach.

He just… froze?

"F-for how long?" He asked again.

"It was for a good minute, to be honest. You moved once or twice. Completely crushed the ball you were holding. It was pretty weird." Jiro said casually while twirling one of her earphone jacks. Despite the oddity of the situation, she was rather unaffected by it. However, Izuku did not take it casually. He was out for a minute? Doing what? How? Why? Why now of all times?

He was the one supposed to be answering this question, yet he had no clue himself. The fact that this unprecedented reaction of his quirk decided to only show itself at this point of time was truly worrying. Guess he's just going to have to shrug it off.

"Uuhyeah. It doesn't happen too often, but it's a sort of side effect of my quirk. I can't really explain it as it just happens at random." God, that is one of the worst lies he's ever told. Maybe he can hopefully rephrase himself, so it doesn't look like he was trying to trick-

"Oh, alright then." Ojiro gave the single response that pulled Izuku out of his thoughts and back down into a stunned state.

'Wait, what? They-They actually… huh.'

Everyone took his answer without so much as double-take. Well, guess that solves-

"Hold on a second."

'This is why we can't have nice things.' Was Izuku's last thought before he met the eyes of the second black-eyed teen. Mina had a friendly smirk on her face as she stood leaned over with her hands on her hips.

"You never introduced yourself yesterday." With her statement, there were a few looks of realization. Indeed, Izuku had left before he could do that. "Well, go one. We're waiting." Izuku blinked with how straightforward this girl could be. But nonetheless, he supposed that he should.

"Right. Well, by now, I'm sure you all have figured out that I am Izuku Midoriya. I guess one of my interesting facts is that I was born with these eyes." All the teens that were present all listened in on the late introduction; most of which were eager to learn of his unique quirk. Izuku knew that they were. At first, he was so worried about how they would react once they figured out his power. The name itself was a huge set-off but actually seeing it in action was a bit worse.

If they could handle seeing the real deal, then there was no longer any reason to keep it from them.

"The name of my quirk… is 'Grimm'."
