All he could do was dash down the street. Caressed by the fear of the reminiscent sound that had made contact with his ears. People jumped out of the way as he ran.
Looking at Fred with disgust and confusion. His face was pale as a ghost as he hyperventilated. ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~ Fear so great that conscious thought died in its presence held Fred's heart.
Nothing remained but the required motion. Like it was his ambition. Fred went through the process of putting as much space between himself and the sound as possible. Until he hit a road block. No more than forty strides away from him was a gate Standing at the side of the gate was a man in chainmail. Chainmail.
Fred was stuck between a rock and a hard place. At his back approached the bearer of the reminiscent sound. And at his front was the one who wore the garb of a murderer.
Either direction resulted in death. So with his soul shivering from the specter at his back. he made a not so new decision. ~I'll take him down with me!~ Fred dashed towards the guard. Lethal intent in his eyes.
"I'm just a trannie if you want out! You don't need to dule me! l'll let you through!" The guard scrambled over to the lever, next to the gate and jerked it down.. The gate began to rise exposing the outside world to fred.. He immediately forgot about his thought.
The need to create distance taking precedence, He darted through the gate. Moving past the man in chainmail. A solid stone bridge was on the other side. He sprinted over it and onto a dirt road which he ran on for a solid thirty minutes. Until he saw a new sight in front of him.
A carriage. With men wearing the murderer's garb marching beside it. Behind Fred was certainly the sound bearer and In front of him. Was assuredly a group of killers.
Fred darted sideways Avoiding either threat and descending into the forest. He was sure that the killer he'd seen and the Bearer of the sound were catching up to him. Practically certain.
Fred ran in the forest for an hour without stopping. Until he encountered a malicious canine.
In front of Fred was a Dog. Different from any other dog, this dog had two rows of teeth set on thick swollen gums..
It sprung towards Fred, he dashed forward. The dog flying right over him. ~I need to run.~ He only ran for about ten seconds before he heard the sound of panting behind him.
The dog was much much faster than Fred. Fred bit his cheek as he skidded on the ground, halting his momentum, his vison growing grey. He desperately reached out as he skidded. Snapping a branch off of a tree next to him.
The dog was in the air again falling towards him. All Fred had time to do was raise the Branch into the air Hoping that the dog would fall on it. Blood fell down Fred's arm.
the branch had lodged itself into the dog's chest. It was there suspended in the air by the point of Fred's branch. Fred swung the branch to the side and the branch snapped. The dog fell into the ground
The stick must have damaged its spinal cord because it made no attempt to move. Fred Looked down at the dog for a second. ~No time to think. I need to run.~ Fred pivoted on his feet and continued to run into the forest.
Fred continued to run through the forest, branches zipping by him. A single goal still burned brightly within him. Run. Put distance between him and the sound bearer.
Fred was not sure if it was due to the exertion or because he had run far enough to reach a clearing devoid of trees. But the surrounding had grown hot. Fred continued to run. Unperturbed by the ashen surroundings, distance was the name. Distance was the game.
"Hello you ugly little ape. Why are you in my backyard?" A heat so great that Fred had to pause for fear of turning to ash surrounded fred.
Towering above him standing on two feet was a massive lizard. It had to be at least two storeys tall. It glared at Fred, thick plate-like scales around its eyes, ribs and arms. Its eyes were two smouldering orbs of hate and heat. Fred fell to his knees, a titanic pressure appearing on his back. "TO THINK YOU CAN FEEL MY DEMON YET YOU ARE HELPLESS! DISGUSTING!"
Fred toppled from his kneeling position to flat on the ground. Unable to move from the weight under him. "Not only are you puny.. But you have disturbed my nap." The dragon collapsed from its standing position to all fours. Its scalding breath covered Fred's body. "This is going to be fun."
A tail struck Fred in the stomach. Causing him to tumble through the ashen hills breathing in a cloud of ash in the process. Fred laid there face in the ash. A pressure made motion impossible for Fred. All he could do was cough ash from his lungs and hope not to swallow anymore. *Thump* *Thump* *Thump* *Thump*
The dragon looked down at Fred. With what Fred was sure was a smug smile. "You know. You look like a sickly elf I once knew. By the time he had reached 800 he had gotten every illness known to man. Sucks that he had to steal my gold." Said the dragon. Fred looked at the dragon.
"*Hack* You *Hack* sound *Hack* like you're trying to intimidate me. What you think can you kill me?" *clap* *clap* *clap* A slow clap echoed throughout the environs
.
"To talk back to a dragon. That required true BRAVERY! Impressive." Both the dragon's and Fred's head spun to the source of the sound. A man wearing opulent armour made from plates of metal of different types stood there. Even from where Fred was lying on the ground. he could tell that the being was towering in its height. At least seven or eight feet tall. "Well. Lucky for you I had heard about a big dragon making a fuss and decided to make today my work day. I spent a whole fifteen minutes making the 10 kilometre sprint out here feel thankful." THe dragon's jaw dropped.
"You will die for having such disrespectful behaviour around me!" Fire spewed from its mouth. The Tall man pointed his sword in the direction of the flame.
The sword did absolutely jack heck. A gale of fire engulfed the man. It's heat was so great that the air was distorted for nearly twenty feet around it.
Fred squinted at the sight of the flame, the heat wafting off it causing his eyes to sting. But still despite this agony he could not move. Frozen by the dragon's pressure.
The fire continued to flow for what almost seemed to be hours. The ash swirling from the heat, Striking at Fred's face. Until finally. It stopped. Nothing but a great wall of smoke left where the man once was.
"See! That's what you get!" Yelled the dragon panting. "Never mess with me!" The smoke settled. Revealing the figure of the man. His plate armour had turned a shade of glowing orange from the flame. Steam could be seen flowing from the armour.
"Or what. You'll give me a warm up? If that was your goal then nice job. I'm all
sweaty." He stabbed his sword into the ground causing it to sink into the ash. The armour clad man shook himself into a combat position.
Cracking his knuckles through the armour. "Before we fight we should exchange names. So that when I make your gravestone. I don't have to engrave 'some dragon' . I find that to be very demeaning. You can call me Rodrigo." Said the man. The dragon paused.
"I would never give my name to a scummy human," Rodrigo shook his head. "Okay. I'll get it at the end then." Without a moment's hesitation. He darted forward, a massive cloud of ash being blown up behind him.
The dragon jumped into the air and spread his wings. With one flap he rose twice Fred's height into the air, the air gusts from his flight creating a cloud of dust under him. The dragon raised its wings to ascend again. ~He's trying to get so high that Rodrigo can't reach him. Then he'll burn him to death with fire. From a distance~ The cloud of ash suddenly blew forwards engulfing him. The last thing he saw was the flash of light glinting off metal. Then his vision went black.
Fred had no choice but to close his eyes lest the ash block out his vision. The pressure had disappeared as soon as he had been obscured by the ash. Fred pushed himself to his feet. Making sure not to breathe.
~I'm gonna die. There's no if's and's or but's about it. I can't outrun a dragon and a human surely can't beat one. Even if he had water in his armour or something to deal with the fire. He's still going to lose. Why am I even putting the effort in?~
Fred fell onto his knees. He saw something. Engraved on his eyelids. A man covered in the most base impurities of life. His skin yellow as his eyes stared wide at a non-descript man wearing chainmail. A sword in his hand. Underneath this image was a word engraved in something Fred would never understand.
Run for your life!
All fear fled from Fred's body. Without taking a breath he stood. He ran. His feet were practically sinking in the ash. But despite this. He ran. ~RUNRUNRUNRUNURNURNURNURNUNRURNURRUNRUNRUNRUNUNRUNRUNRUN.~ Nothing was left in his mind but the idea. Two minutes passed...
It had only been two minutes. But Fred had began to grow weak. His eyes were almost closing as he continued to run. His feet had almost been consumed by the ash many times..
Yet despite this Fred continued to run as fast as he could. No regard for life left in his body. Then finally. His foot touched dirt, He was free of the ash. All of the primal molecule deprived from Fred All he could do was collapse onto the ground. ~RunRunRunRunRunRun ~
