Liam rushed out of the car first to tone down the sexual tension rising in his body, with every gaze, every touch, every shy smile, Cyra's very existence was making him go crazy, and this was only the beginning.
When she walked out of the car with Walter's help, she looked dazzling in her sports outfit, honestly, Liam was expecting her to show up in a sweatshirt or something but this was chic and stylish.
Cyra walked forward and stood beside him quietly staring at the ground, Liam hadn't even noticed he was staring till Walter cleared his throat, he looked back at Walter and gently pointed out Cyra's outfit.
"I was expecting a sweatshirt but I'm surprised, you look good." Liam cleared his throat saying.
"Oh, that was actually what I put on, my... sister dressed me up like this, but thank you," Cyra confessed.
"That sister of yours must have a good sense of style, shall we search her out too?" Ray joked coming to assist Cyra and Walter.
"Behave now, Ronald." Walter scolded.
"It's Ray Pops, remember."
"Kids," Walter said shaking his head, Liam cleared his throat,
"That's good, now shall we be off then? Oh and pick up the bags, would you?" Liam added with a sly smile, Walter dropped a big bag of clubs behind Cyra before bidding her farewell.
Cyra looked at the enormous bag almost half her size, she slung the leather strap over her shoulder making sure she didn't drop the golf clubs and followed after Liam.
They walked towards some parked golf carts and Liam spoke to the person there before being handed a key. Cyra sets the bag of golf clubs at the back and sat behind Liam since there were no extra front seats.
"Have you ever played golf Miss Hudson?" Liam asked, she shook her head as she responded.
"A little, but I'd like to try again someday," Cyra said after Liam went quiet, after that he didn't say anything else as they drove silently and met up with their important client, Mr Osborne.
Liam parked beside another white cart in the vast valley of green with flags sticking out of holes.
"Mr Osborne," Liam calls out.
"Mr Richards, so nice of you to join us."
Cyra became confused when she came down from the cart and couldn't pick out Mr Osborne, all the men standing there were around Liam's age.
"And who might this lovely lady be?" He smiled softly.
"She's my new secretary, Cyra Hudson." Liam introduced, Cyra struggled to arrange the bag so she could greet the man but she stumbled almost falling off the small hill they stood over.
And when she didn't fall, she opened her eyes to see that she was caught by Mr Osborne, his hand gripping strongly over her right arm. Embarrassed, she slightly drew her hand standing up straight,
"Cyra Hudson sir, a pleasure to meet your acquaintance," Cyra said holding onto the bag and bowing her head instead.
Mr Osborne cracked a small smile at her, intrigue sparked in his eyes as he looked at her small frame.
"Joseph Osborne of Osborne Textile and Fabrics, but please, call me Joe." He stretched out a hand to Cyra who accepted the hand with a small smile.
Cyra shook his hand but let go as soon as she noticed Liam's glare on them both, but the feeling felt more urgent when Mr Osbourne used his index finger to scratch Cyra's palm.
She drew her hand away with a smile to not create a scene, Mr Osbourne or Joe looked at her with a smile before turning to Liam.
"You've got a good one there, try not to lose her like this game. I'll have my eye out for her." Joe said sending a wink at Cyra.
Cyra shifted uncomfortably, not because Joe winked at her but because it felt like she was about to be sold off through some game. Was that why she was brought here? She wondered.
They began playing and for once Cyra was thankful to her father for taking her to every game he was invited to after her mother died. Then again, it wasn't like he had a choice otherwise, Cyra thought again.
After going around the court and playing a total of about 18 games, it was a tie on both sides with 9 holes each.
"I must hand it to you, Liam, you must like your secretary a lot to put up this much of a fight." Joe teased.
"That's the excuse of a sore loser, I know you rigged that last hole." Liam accused,
"Why I never," Joe acted shocked before the two bursts into laughter.
Cyra stared confused, was it true that Liam wasn't a troll? One minute his all gloomy and serious and now look at him laughing, now Cyra thought it was wrong of her to think she saw some kind of darkness in her boss, who knew, she was still getting to know him.
"With that being said, you must join us for brunch Liam, and no, I won't take no for an answer."
"Sure Joe, I came prepared." Liam snapped and already Cyra was standing with his suit bag.
And as much as Liam didn't want to admit it, he liked how efficiently Cyra worked, she's improved in such a short time.
"Even better, oh and is the lady joining us?" Liam looked at Cyra too.
"Er, yes. I will be in attendance." Cyra said nervously, I mean, could she sound any more medieval?
"Splendid, interesting people for once. This club was beginning to get on my last nerve." Joe complained for the first time that day.
"You could easily sell this place, why waste time?"
"Well my good friend, unlike a few fortunate ones, my father is still alive and the court, these fields, this club is literally his life. I don't have the heart to take that away from the old man." Joe said whining like a kid.
"It's your funeral."
"You mean my father's right?" The two laughed again before going to their carts.
Cyra followed behind getting into the cart with Liam who drove them to one of the guest houses around. As soon as they got there, Ray was already waiting at the door.
He helped Cyra with the club bag while handing over her bag.
"I'm going to get ready now, and if you're not done before I get out you're really on your own," Liam said before disappearing into one of the rooms.
Cyra felt threatened but rushed to get dressed, it was easier to get the clothes off than it was to put them on and it took less time to put on the sundress.
But just to be sure it was on right, Cyra dialled Nancy for a final check.
"How could you possibly mess up wearing such a simple dress." Nancy laughed while Cyra adjusted her dress.
"It's not my fault I thought the V-neck was meant to be at the front."
"That some American dog crap right there."
"Shut up. Am I good to go or not?" Cyra rolled her eyes at her phone.
"Fine, sorry, sorry. Sure, after you put on some light makeup."
"But I didn't pack any," Cyra said.
"I know, that's why I did. It's at the side of the bag." Cyra looked through the side zip of her bag and found a few items.
"I don't know how to use these."
"One, it's just lipstick, and powder and maybe a little eye shadow. And two that's why we're having this conversation." Nancy said proud.
"That's a lot for me,"
"No no! you're not getting out of this, we need boss hottie to notice you."
"Nancy now's not the time, I'm gonna get left behind," Cyra whined.
"Fine then, let's get on to it."
And even though there were just a few things, they ended up spending a good 30 minutes putting on light make-up, half the time Cyra making mistakes and the other half Cyra messing up instructions.
But finally, they were done and with little effort, Cyra looked stunning from head to toe. She rushed out of the room to find Ray sitting down reading from his phone.
"You took quite some time miss."
"Is he gone?" Cyra asked.
"Mr Richards's quite a stickler when it comes to time," Ray answered.
"Oh no, am I gonna be in trouble?" Cyra said shuffling around.
"Well, you won't if you leave right now?" Ray said opening the door for Cyra, she walked out and was escorted by Ray to where the brunch would hold.
With the white cart, like a golf course princess, Ray stopped in front of a large gazebo, where brunch would be served.
Ray extended his hand after stopping a little distance away from the gazebo, he walked her to the front and up the stairs. In Cyra's mind, she was grateful to Mr Smith for gifting her those heels and Nancy for the ones she was in now.
Ray helped her upstairs and since it was an open area, the aws of people weren't easily hidden. Cyra walked in like the Bella of the ball, people couldn't keep their eyes off her and she couldn't find Liam anywhere.
In her short 50s Vintage type flower dress holding her boobs and waist in all the right places and stopping just above her knees with a pair of champagne-coloured peep toe heels with beautiful pearl drop earrings to match, Cyra was a runway stopped here.
She nervously moved to the snack table trying to use her eyes to locate Liam but he was nowhere to be seen. Cyra kept looking at her phone while picking here and there on the snack table when she got approached.
"Hello, young lady." A relatively older man greeted.
"Oh, hello sir." Cyra greeted politely.
"I don't believe I've seen you around here in the past?"
"Oh no, I use to accompany my father as a child but, today I'm here for work." Cyra smiled.
"Ah, I see. Such a beautiful young lady." The man came closer feeling her bare arm.
"Err... Thank you sir but that's not necessary." Cyra tries moving away but he grips her arm.
"Oh, but you are..."
"I- er... i-i-i need to leave." Cyra tugged on her arm trying to free herself,
"Mr James, pleasure seeing you again. Ah, I see you've met my woman." Joe placed his hand on the man's hand.
"Your woman? I thought you told me you're here for work." He said looking back to Cyra.
"She is, as a matter of fact, the secretary to my good friend, ah, here he comes now."
It felt like Liam was the only one in the room, with every step it took people moved out of the way, and his intimidating presence enveloped the entire place.
Cyra could have sworn she felt Mr James's hand tremble before letting her go, she looked back at Joe who simply smiles at her.
"Cyra, come here, now!"
