Chapter 108 - Meeting Hall

"So you are suggesting that we just chase out anyone who doesn't have useful skill, is that it?" The familiar female voice was flat and emotionless. But because Caelus was familiar with the voice, it was the exact reason he felt a chill run through his spine.

The voice who was talking was Hikari's. The kindest person he knew actually could have a voice that was as emotionless as any other cold person.

"Miss Tsukiyomi, this is not the time to be emotional. We have limited resources. And our farmers only could last for a while. They are not God to feed everyone."

"And so, you want to turn away humans? Don't you know what everyone could face out there? Slavery! Do you want to give it a go being a slave?"

"But we have a food shortage as it is! People started to discover the food on Glitch Shop and there's barely any food that had been put there! All the other surviving humans are buying and hoarding it!"

"That's why we need more people! We need to do what we can to be self-sufficient! Why don't we have people to learn how to farm?!"

"We're already busy as it is, you want us to add more work to certain Classes?"

"That's not reasonable at all! Scouts are so busy trying to figure out Zones! We can't take any more work!"

"Combat classes are doing their best to grind Zones that haven't been taken over by Dragon Riders! We are risking our life already. Why should we farm?! We should be rewarded for our effort!"

"Are you saying that other Classes don't do their work?!"

"..."

Caelus was speechless hearing the argument get sidetracked every now and then. He tried to listen just so he could know what the meeting could achieve, but after an hour his fuse was running short.

"Is this common?" He felt the muscle in his face twitch with irritation. The discussion was not going anywhere at all!

It felt like teens lifting their ego to show off their might with each other but no one wanted to listen with the other side. That's why it ended up with just a bunch of useless talks.

[It is. This would go on for another two to four hours until they would be able to settle on one topic.]

"... I'm surprised they were able to do so much even with this mess. Haaah…"

[It's thanks to the founders. When the three of them united, no one could utter any argument and establishment of the said topic would be done immediately. The longest it took to establish a new law was four days.]

"They're really amazing. But I take it that the Founders don't agree often?"

[Yes. Miss Hikari often pushes laws for the welfare of people, while Mister Asahi for the defense we have. As for Mister Gouki, he's pushing forward to strengthening himself and everyone else. He's also the one who established the Academy.]

"I didn't expect this…"

[Mister Gouki also put up fair laws that made the Sanctuary Shelter more peaceful than before. There was a lot of bullying, fighting and chaos before it happened. With Mister Gouki's experience, we were able to come up with reasonable laws that saved a lot of our citizens. The crime rate dwindled down for fifty-six percent.]

"Wait… d-did anyone die? I thought it's forbidden to fight here?"

[Yes. Someone did die,]

For the first time, Caelus noticed how compassionate Sanctuary's voice was. As if her child was the one who died.

[It was an inevitable loophole that I didn't notice until five people's Mana or Energy signature vanished in my data.]

[I'm not trying to excuse myself. It was due to my lack of ability. At first, I thought it was just someone who died a natural death. The second, I tried to look into because of the similarities. But before I could reach a conclusion, the third and fourth had already surfaced. I had to notify the founders for help. We were able to find the cause after the fifth case.]

[It was someone who has the skill to hypnotize someone else into thinking they are not fighting at all, inevitably, when they killed someone, I didn't recognize it as a fight. As for the victim who had died, they were either unconscious or under a drug so they couldn't recognize it as a fight either.]

"..."

He closed his eyes. He was speechless. He took lightly of what Sanctuary had said about the loopholes of the law. He didn't see that coming.

"I'll visit the families later. Ah… d-do they still have families?"

[Only one of them has. I'll place the route and remind you later.]

"Thank you. *Gasp*"

As they exchanged conversation, Caelus suddenly gasped as he felt the sudden Mana flow inside the Meeting Hall. Instantly, his Qi Energy that was covering him vanished as he didn't expect the Mana interruption inside the room.

All the people inside the Meeting Hall that was sitting at the long table froze and swiftly glared at him.

"Who are you?! What are you doing here sneaking at the Meeting Hall! This is not a place for everyone!"

"I can't believe someone managed to get past the AI!"

"I told you we can't trust that AI! It was showing signs of its own consciousness! It must be an enemy!"

"Attack!"

"W-wait! I'm–" Before Caelus could explain himself, three figures swiftly stood in front of him. They stood upright ready to protect him from harm.

An intense bloodlust was oozing from the three figures which shocked him greatly.

He could understand Gouki, which he saw as someone strong enough and adjusted in this new world to exude bloodlust. However, it was different for both Asahi and Hikari. Especially for Hikari. Her bloodlust was so strong he felt shiver down his bones.

It was so contradictory for someone he dubbed as a heroic lady, an epitome of kindness and goodness. At this moment, she felt more suitable to be a villain… a beautiful badass villain.

"Touch him and you'll get the heaviest punishment available in the Sanctuary Shelter." It was Gouki who said it as if he was just reading a law section. Yet, he felt shudder run through his body feeling the hidden threat inside Gouki's flat voice.

It was never a good thing to get on the bad side of the Overpowered Main Character. Good thing Gouki's threat was not darted to him.

"It seems you are being hasty because of the intensity of the meeting. But know this. This man is the owner of Sanctuary Shelter." Asahi could be seen smiling. But even with the smile and brightness he had displayed, everyone paled, losing all blood in their faces.

In the people of the Meeting Hall. Each and everyone of the founders were scary if poked wrong. And now, the three were unitedly protecting someone. They felt the bigshot was not someone they should even think of harming!

*This person is the one who united the three?! They bicker all the time and only when they have their thoughts align would they be united. But this…*

*This guy must be a monster!*

*Shit! I almost hit him!*

Everyone had different thoughts but their thoughts were drifting to one direction. They all thought that Caelus must be insanely strong to have the three as his guards.

A misunderstanding Caelus didn't even know about.
