Asahi looked at Caelus with understanding.
His eyes then pointed towards the Troll Priest.
Caelus immediately knew what Asahi wanted to do. He left the Troll Mage and dashed towards the priest. The four trolls were caught off guard with the sudden change.
Although they were acting crazed, they surely still had the intelligence to think about their enemies movements.
He ignored what the Trolls could possibly be thinking and used the seconds he had bought to rush towards the priest. In two seconds, thanks to his Qi Boost, he was able to reach the priest and stab it with the Soul Crusher causing it to suffer paralysis.
It's still shallow… he felt his stomach churned inside. Even when he knew what he had to do, his complicated emotions stopped him from doing it.
Asahi, who was waiting for that, immediately used his Light element skill. He imbued his sword with Holy Light, turning his hair white, and slashed at the Troll Priest. The priest let out a blood scream, it was obvious the priest was suffering far from before. It was the effect of a Light element that could purify anything.
Although the Troll was a priest, its element was not pure Light. And with the current insanity the Trolls were showing, the light was extremely effective. Seeing this, Caelus knew that there was darkness inside the Trolls. Maybe it was even corruption.
The Troll Priest was visibly weakened but the three other trolls obviously didn't want to just sit and watch their priest die.
They started attacking Asahi.
Caelus instantly knew what he needed to do.
He intercepted one Troll Warrior, stabbing his Soul Crusher into it before using his body to receive the Troll Mage's Fireball. In the instant he received the Fireball, he used Qi Protection to lessen the damage.
"Sho!" Asahi shouted worriedly.
"I'm fine," he said through gritted teeth. Honestly, he was shocked that it didn't burn him. When he glanced at his wardrobe, he knew the answer. "I used Qi and my items are special. I minimize the damage." Yet, he still could feel the previous damage from the club.
It's normal to be hurt by a blunt weapon even if I have a good item. It's still just a tunic set. Being beat up into a pulp and getting stabbed or burned are two different things.
"Kon nyaro! Even if you minimize the damage, that doesn't mean there's no damage!"
Asahi was obviously mad. But Caelus chose this because he knew that's the only way he could help.
Asahi, knowing this, sighed helplessly before finishing off the Troll Priest by cutting its head off, leaving them with two Troll Warriors and one Troll Mage left. The three entered frenzied mode.
"Gouaaaah!"
The Trolls let out a crazed shout. There was no intelligent meaning behind it. Unlike when facing wolves or murloc, Caelus knew they didn't have any intelligent way of communicating. The Trolls simply acted on instinct.
*Are they mad because we killed their friend?*
He knew it was not the time to think about it, however, without knowing anything about the world, it was the thought that came inside his mind.
He immediately erased it as he felt his stomach turn upside down.
Although the Trolls' damage hit harder, it wasn't enough to take Asahi or Caelus.
Caelus took the time to distract the club user Troll while Asahi efficiently handled the other two. Truth was, because the Troll had certain intelligence, Caelus had a hard time scratching them with his Soul Crusher. The Troll became wary and would only let him land a blow towards the purple skin that was harder.
Caelus knew he just had to put more force into his action. Yet, even knowing it, the inner turmoil inside him was stopping him.
He knew it was not the right time for it.
*How lucky am I to experience this conflict with Sho's best friend? He had to cover for me for now and I'm still safe…* He felt sarcastic with his predicament.
In the end, while Caelus was trying his best to battle himself, the three trolls were killed by Asahi's blade that was imbued with Holy Light. The first to go down was the Troll Mage which was significantly less tankier than the Troll Warriors. Like how Asahi cut off the Troll Priest, he also cut off the head of the Troll Mage.
It was the only way to truly kill them.
Caelus assisted as much as he could, but he didn't do any significant role.
His body refused to draw blood towards his enemy by himself. Although he knew he assisted in killing, the killing done himself was another matter he could not handle right now.
"Sho…" Asahi finally had the time to face Caelus now that all Trolls were dead.
"I know. But I don't know what I should do."
It was Caelus' turn to be helpless.
"You know you can't survive if you let them kill you, right?"
"I know…"
"You know we can't communicate with them, right?"
"Yeah…"
"Then you should know what you should do to survive. They're not sane anymore. They attack without reasoning–"
"What if I turned into a monster, would you also kill me?"
"What?! Where did that come from?"
"That's what I'm thinking. Where did all the monsters come from? Why do we need to kill them? What if these monsters are also just trying to survive? What if–"
"Stop. Those lines of thoughts would make you insane. Don't go there."
Caelus fell silent. He knew Asahi was telling the truth. But he couldn't blindly shut those thoughts out of his mind.
*Because I am a transmigrator.*
Asahi let out a loud sigh. "I know you've been through a lot. And it might have been two months, but one month of yours, you did it alone. Take your time. I'll be here for you whenever you need me."
"Thank you."
"Find and follow your own path."
With that, Asahi continued walking towards Gouki's location.
The two traversed in almost a straightforward way. Asahi wanted to be as fast as they could so that they could go back. Although Caelus assured that there were safe areas on the coordinates he gave, it wasn't 100% guaranteed that other entities wouldn't find the safe area. The only safest place they could be is within the Sanctuary Shelter.
Understanding this, Caelus didn't complain. The only time they took a long way was when Sanctuary warned them of Dragon Riders. He specifically asked Sanctuary to warn him of Dragon Riders entities.
[Master]
"What is it, Sanctuary?" Asahi glanced at Caelus. He got used to Caelus talking aloud whenever he communicated with Sanctuary. Although Caelus also gave him authority to talk with Sanctuary, they couldn't share the same communication yet. It was a waste of Mana to share communication when there was no need. They are together and they could just talk it out loud.
[I've taken note of the three people you've tasked me to monitor. And it seems after you reach Gouki, Hikari wouldn't be far from his location. It would take about a day to reach her. There's a probability of shortening the time as she still keeps moving near Gouki's direction.]
"Is she going for Gouki?"
[Cannot determine. Her pattern of movement is not certain, but one thing is for sure, she's moving nearer to Gouki. There's a huge probability that she's just moving that way according to her movements.]
"Hm… keep me updated. Once we reach Gouki, we'll try to get in contact with her since she's already near…"
He wanted to ask Sanctuary something else, but then his danger senses suddenly warned him something. Before he could even warn Asahi he felt an object coming his way. He immediately dodged and instinctively looked at the direction where the object came from.
There was nothing there.
Not good!
He wanted to look back sensing danger from behind him but he stopped frozen in place. He felt a sharp blade poking beside his neck.
"Better not turn." a cold distant voice could be heard.
It was also a familiar voice.
