Chapter 15 - Ardito Veneziale

The two rows of the white metallic wall appeared out of nowhere within seconds and made all of the gangsters who came flinch. But their mindset that these flimsy metal walls wouldn't stop their bullet was still ingrained in their mind as they started making the worst and last mistake of their life.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

To show the mysterious man to not look down on them and vent their frustration when they flinched at the sight of these flimsy metal walls. All of the gangsters that came as reinforcement decided to immediately open fire at the flying blade wall.

The flash of sparks and little specks of flame flew around as hundreds upon hundreds of bullets of various calibers hit the blade wall, unable to cause even a single scratch on it.

Within Daniel's mindscape, he clearly saw the battle outside and can clearly sense that the two walls he had summoned were clearly damaged by those bullets, but the damage is insignificant enough to only reduce its toughness by 1.

[All of those bullets can only cause its toughness to be reduced by only 1!?] Daniel was impressed, but his mind is still within the mindscape. His surprises and all of his emotional fluctuation were not shown on his face.

At that moment, part of the wall transformed and tens of the glave-like blades flew out.

Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Boom!

The blade quickly ends the life of all the assailants that attack it whether it was a small cut in the neck, separating the upper torso from the lower one, or opening the stomach letting all of the innards of the victim out in the open air. The quick attack from the flying blade made the short work of all the gangsters that came this way along with accidentally cutting some of the small pillars that support the roof of the walkway in front of the main building.

The only selected few who survive this group of reinforcement was the one who didn't attack the blade walls and all of them are shaking and panicked at the sight of all their friends and comrades that are lying lifelessly on the lawn and buried within the debris of the walkway roof.

All of this incident was witnessed by the three young men who attacked Daniel out of their naive ignorance and arrogance. They clearly saw that Daniel's face didn't display any emotion, even a little frown or sense of ecstasy when one vanquished their adversary can not be seen from his face.

It was as if the mysterious man in front of him only saw them as inferior beings or just ants and maggots that he could stomp out of existence anytime he wished. The absence of human emotion from Daniel made Russo Veneziale, who was the one leading his friend to attack this powerful man, have a sense of dread for the first time in his life.

As for Daniel whose mind was still his own mindscape was just startled at first, even if this is the first time in his life that he killed someone especially since some of his victims died in a gruesome way that should make his stomach churn.

But somehow, he just felt only a little bit of pity. A pity from the powerful toward the powerless who had become his victim not out of their choice, but out of their circumstance, like he was seeing hundreds of enemy soldiers die on the battlefield.

[Strange… This is too strange. Why am I so calm? I should have felt disgusted or at least panicked but somehow it's like I do this or saw this more than once until I was used to it.] Daniel pondered, but then he remembered something important.

He remembered that his body was still affected by the Grand Artificer profession card. All of his ability, knowledge, and understanding of how to make an artifact and all of the theories about it were in his mind. Including all of the professional experience that made one a Grand Artificer.

He also remembered that when he actualized the card in the real world, not only the power within the description section was actualized, but it also included the picture, flavor word, and also the lore he had created along with those cards.

This means that the lore he had created about the grand Artificer that they not only create a myriad of amazing artifacts. They also serve in the war as a frontline engineer and spearhead the battlefield with their creation and knowledge.

As a result, he should have the experience and mentality of the veteran who had gone to war multiple times and had already gotten used to it as his profession card had reached level 3! That's why he didn't feel much sympathy or feel disgusted for what he did or for the gory scene in front of him.

Daniel quickly suppressed his emotion which was an easy feat when his mind was in the mindscape before he let his mind out of the mindscape to interact with other people.

He shifts his attention from the pile of bloody corpses toward the three young men in front of him with unfeeling eyes as if looking at the inferior life form.

"So… where did all of you keep my artifact blueprint? More importantly, why did you steal them in the first place? Did anyone hire you?" He starts to interrogate the three while adding some of the smoke, hinting at them to think that this problem was above and beyond their pay grade.

Daniel then controls the scarab throng to pick the three up from the ground.

"Wha… What are you trying to do? Help! Anyone! Help!!" Russo began to shout in panic when his body was dragged and hung in the air by his shirt along with his two friends who were about to break down, judging from their distorted faces induced by sheer terror.

Drip… Drip…

One of his friends was broken as his bladder couldn't hold on and the stinking yellow liquid dripped out of his crotch to the ground.

"Don't…. don't don't kill me…" The peed young man begged with a shaking voice as his tears and mucus mixed together.

Seeing this, Daniel felt contempt, disgust, and disdain at the pathetic display of this young man who was the one who punched his face.

"Ah… the true nature of a bully. When the bully becomes powerless, they are usually more fragile than their victim." Daniel said with contempt then turned toward the remaining two which were Russo and his other friend.

"What about you two? Are you the powerless bully? Or just the victim of your own ignorance and arrogance?" Asked Daniel.

"In this case, I think it was the latter. Your Excellency." A voice of a middle-aged man sounded out from behind Daniel as his footsteps were heard from the distance.

Daniel turned toward the direction of the voice and controlled his two blade walls to open the way for the owner of the voice for him to see.

A plump middle-aged man with clean slick hair in casual wear walked toward him along with two of his bodyguards beside him.

Seeing the civilized greeting from the middle-aged man, Daniel can't help but let out a sarcastic smirk.

"Oh? It seems that disadvantage and powerlessness made some rude people able to recover their ability to properly communicate like civilized people." Daniel sarcastically commented.

Hearing the sarcastic remark from Daniel, the middle-aged man didn't even frown; he just smiled and walked toward Daniel as if he didn't hear anything.

"I'm very sorry, your excellency. My ignorant son made you irritated and led to this…" The middle-aged man looked at the aftermath around him and then continued.

"Misunderstanding… May I have the honor to correct my son's mistake?" The middle-aged man asked politely with a bow. He didn't seem to be angry or hold a grudge at what Daniel did to his people as if this is a normal occurrence for him.

"I Take it that you are Mr.Veneziale and one of these three must be Mr.Veneziale junior?" Daniel said then looked at the three young men who started to feel relieved as the middle-aged man came out to remedy the situation.

Seeing that the situation is beginning to improve, Daniel decides to stop his aggressiveness and keeps two blade walls inside the artifact in his pocket.
