Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Prologue

Rarl! Roar!

"How did it come to this?"

"Why is this monster chasing after me?"

"What am I doing here?"

A young man was filled with thoughts as he was running for his life. He is being chased by a berserking and snarling crocodile.

It would seem to be a normal crocodile but as you look at it, it has glowing red eyes and its body is as black as the darkest night you've seen. Furthermore, it's length is thrice that of a normal crocodile. However, that's not all, it also has teeth that are abnormally larger than that of the regular crocodile.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Why is this beast in here?"

"Fuck! This is humiliating!"

"Why is a hunter like me being chased? I, Amir, should be the one chasing this shit!"

The name of the young man is Amir. He is 17 years old and working as a hunter. In a civilization where pyramids are everything.

But don't get it wrong, this is not ancient Egypt. Rather, it is Egypt in the 53rd year of the 50th moon passing. Or to be exact the year 2023.

Indeed, it is the same as the time at the moment. Only, the thing is that ancient Egypt did not fall. Rather, it continued to strive and become one of the most prominent civilizations in the world. It fact, it is one of the behemoths of the world at the moment.

With the support of its gods, it become the way it was, a behemoth. It is prominent with its technologies and agriculture.

Be it during a peaceful time or at war, it stayed at the top of the food chain.

But no matter how prosperous Egypt is, only a fraction of its people are rich and most belong to the lower class of society.

The poor have to work hard to eat. On the contrary, the rich waste too much food in the trash bins.

Of course, there are gods, but they would not descend to personally give food to the people. After all, the gods, do not mingle with the affairs of the mortals.

Meanwhile, one of the people that needed to work hard is Amir, a hunter.

One thing that made Egypt what it was today is the resources from the beasts on its territory. It is unknown when they existed. However, the beasts have been here ever since the record about the gods existed.

The beasts may be dangerous, but their carcasses are the resources that the Egyptians needed for their technologies. Hence, a hunter became one of the great money-making occupations.

In fact, anyone could become a hunter. Well… anyone who does not fear death and has enough strength and courage to fight beasts twice their size.

Meanwhile, Amir is huffing as he is running away from the crocodile beast that is chasing after him.

Amir has already used most of his weapons and ammo.

"Shit! What do I do? Should I give up without looking for my sister Leyla?"

He was filled with despair.

Honestly, he should have not encountered this monster if he was not looking for his sister.

Of course, in this scenario, he is not blaming his sister. Rather, he wanted to see her safe and sound.

She is the reason Amir goes to dangerous places. He wanted to earn money and give a better life to Leyla.

He wanted her to have a better life and find a good husband. But one day when Amir came home, he could not find Leyla.

At first, he thought Leyla just went out for some fresh air. However, she did not come back for three days straight. At that moment, Amir knew that something is wrong.

He asked the neighbors and discovered that Leyla is looking for a job. Then, three days before, Leyla went out with some men. And now, she is nowhere to be found.

At that time, Amir's heart was pierced. "Leyla wanted to find a job because the money I am giving her is not enough," he thought.

Despair struck him.

Although the carcasses of the beasts sell for a high price, he also needed to buy equipment to aid him in the hunt and the price of the equipment is also high considering that they are also made from the carcasses of beasts.

With that, there is not much income. Of course, things would be different if Amir knew martial arts and flashy fighting skills.

But as good as it may be, Amir did not have those. Skill books are expensive and worse, the only ones for sale are the weak ones. The powerful skill books are kept by a powerful organization, and they do not want to share them.

"Fuck this beast!"

In an instant, Amir decided to stop and got into his fighting position.

"If I die, then so be it!"

Amir's dagger was in his hand, and his eyes were fixed on the crocodile. The beast had also stopped not too far from him, snarling and. The two were facing each other, both waiting for the other to make the first move.

Amir was thinking hard. He knew that he had very little chance of surviving this encounter, but he also knew that he had to try. He thought of his sister Leyla, and how he had promised to find her and bring her back home. He couldn't give up now.

The crocodile suddenly lunged at Amir, its jaws snapping at him with lightning speed. Amir quickly jumped to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. He slashed his dagger at the crocodile, but it only scratched the beast's thick scales.

The crocodile roared in anger, and Amir knew that he had made a mistake. He shouldn't have attacked head-on. He needed to be smart and find a way to weaken the beast before he could take it down.

The crocodile charged at Amir again, and this time, he was ready. He rolled to the side, dodging the attack, and then ran towards the beast's flank. He slashed his dagger at its leg, hoping to cause some damage.

The crocodile growled in pain and turned towards Amir, who was now behind it. Amir took advantage of the moment and slashed at the beast's other leg, causing it to stumble.

The crocodile roared in anger and turned towards Amir, its jaws wide open, ready to bite him in half. Amir closed his eyes, waiting for the end.

Suddenly, he heard a loud boom, and the crocodile was knocked off its feet. Amir opened his eyes and saw that someone had fired a cannon at the beast. The crocodile was still alive but heavily wounded.

Amir quickly jumped on the beast's back and stabbed it repeatedly with his dagger. The crocodile thrashed around, trying to shake him off, but Amir held on tight.

Finally, the beast stopped moving, and Amir fell off its back, exhausted but relieved. He looked around and saw that he was surrounded by people who had come to help him.

"Are you alright?" a man asked him.

Amir nodded, still in shock. He couldn't believe that he had survived. He looked at the dead crocodile, his heart filled with pride. He had done it.

He suddenly remembered his sister Leyla and realized that he still had a long way to go. He had to find her and bring her back home.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Amir stood up and thanked the people who had helped him. He knew that he couldn't have done it without them.

He looked at the dead crocodile one last time and then turned around, determined to find Leyla, no matter what it takes.
