Chapter 1 - First Encounter

It was supposed to be a normal day.

It was just supposed to be a day of boring normalcy.

And now he was pinned down by sand chains in a park at night with claws at his neck and fire under his feet. All just because he saw something no one was supposed to. Now he was going to be killed and burned like a witch in Salem, 1692. Until...

"Stop it, all of you! Put him down, and let me talk to him. This was just a misunderstanding." a boy said, walking towards him with all the confidence in the world. His red eyes seem to pierce through the night like a flame tipped arrow, and he knelt down.

"Nice to meet you. Call me Todd Alucard. I'm a vampire, and I would like to ask you a few questions if that's okay. Of course if you deny I'll just erase your memories of this moment and send you on your way home. Sound good?" Todd asked.

The logical answer would be to deny this. What in hell's name was he talking about, vampire? That's not something you just tell someone, especially looking so....so...cute? The thought was humiliating, but he couldn't do anything but nod his head yes.

"Excellent. Now, what's your name friend?" Todd asked, still smiling and didn't seem to move an inch, despite how close he felt. The boy answered. "Tristian...Tristian Yuuki. I'm half Japanese on my mom's side. My dad's from a line of magicians, and my mom's a priestess in Japan. She'll be returning in a few months." Tristian answered. He knew lies would just end up with him either dead or his memory erased. Todd gently caressed his cheek, his pale skin was smooth like a silk cloth, his nails felt like luke-warm rain drops.

"You're a very attractive witch boy. I see you have a suitcase. Are you currently looking for a new place of residence? I have plenty of space, and I sense a lot of potential in you." Todd said in a seductive tone. Tristian felt his face go hot, he wanted to push back and run, but he didn't have it into him to run. The werewolf boy spoke up. "Todd, are you insane? We can't trust a random witch, especially someone as nosy as he is! Just let me carve out his throat, and make sure he never talks again." he yelled. Todd looked at him with an angry glare, his eyes going red with his pupils turning gold. It was clear he wasn't in the mood for insubordination or threats to random people.

The mummy spoke up next. "Todd with all due respect, why take interest in him of all people? His abilities are...pretty much piss poor compared to us, and I doubt he even knows how to use them well enough. Let's just erase his memory and send him on his way to a decent apartment building." he said. Todd's claws grew out a bit more. Tristian suddenly felt a chill, like he could sense a protective, yet oddly murderous instinct fill the air. "Please..don't fight over me. I'll leave right now." he said, but Todd held onto him like a vice. It was clear he wasn't going anywhere at all. He felt like if he tried to run, his arm would rip off due to the intense grip, so he just submitted and brought his suitcase. As they walked through the New York streets, they saw that no one seemed to notice a werewolf, demon, and mummy walking around. The werewolf got near Tristian's ear, now in a human form. "Keep your eyes forward, don't you turn around, and don't bother casting any illusion spells. Just walk and act normal." he said. Tristian did what he was told, and walked with them into a studio apartment.

Todd sat Tristian down, and started to open his bag. The other three went into a kitchen to talk. "Don't worry about them, they won't touch you as long as I'm here. They're just skeptical because...witches haven't been kind to us most of the time. Our kind are thought of as evil and such. Ever since the church started to call on witches, they're seen as holy as long as they comply to their sickening demands just to live. Just plain hypocrisy to me. But let's get you fixed up, you hungry?" Todd asked. Tristian shook his head no, but his stomach betrayed him and growled loudly, much to his embarrassment and annoyance. Todd giggled and went into the kitchen to cook something quick.

"Listen to me. Tristian is not our enemy. I can tell he's not of the church, so treat him with kindness and respect. Introduce yourselves, and make him feel welcome. Understand?" Todd said. All three of them agreed. The werewolf went first, and sat next to Tristian reluctantly, not sure what to say. "Um...I'm..Tristian. Not sure if..werewolves are, fond of other teammates outside of their pack..so..." Tristian was cut off. "Listen to me, and if you try anything shady, I'll rip your damn tongue out. I'm Hati Surtr. That's all you need to know. And if you touch my fried chicken, I'll kill you." he said. Tristian was sweating a bit, but he nodded yes.

Todd spoke from the other room. "No threats Hati. I mean it." he said. Hati looked disappointed and just relaxed on the couch. The mummy came in next, him also in a human form, but with his left arm wrapped up in bandages. "I'm Imhotep Ramses, no relation to the pharaoh or the chancellor to Djoser. I'm a golem mummy born from an ancient temple in Egypt. So...there you go. I'm glad we didn't hurt you at the park by the way." he said. Tristian wasn't sure how a golem could have mummy traits, but anything can happen honestly. The demon came in last. "Hey. I'm Satanas Leviathan, son of the devil Leviathan." he said. He didn't seem like a talker, and just started to draw in a sketchpad. Tristian wasn't sure what to do next, so he just sat in silence until Todd brought him a plate of spaghetti.

"Eat up. And how about telling us more about you? You don't seem like some run-of-the-mill occultist, especially at your age." he said. Tristian wasn't sure what to say about himself, especially to someone he just met after almost getting eaten and burned alive. Hati looked skeptical, waiting for an answer. "Uh...well, I'm currently 22, I'm an Aquarius, and I just moved out of my parent's apartment. They're still processing me leaving, especially with my little brother gonna be missing me even more. And I'm..trying to get my hair done. Longer hair and such. I don't really know..what else to really say." he said. Satanas just looked at him with a blank expression, not exactly trying to engage in conversation, and kept drawing. After about five minutes, he was finished and showed Tristian the final image. It was him, but wearing a cyberpunk like outfit. A latex leotard with blue pants that show off his hips, a white long coat with a spiked collar with fingerless gloves. Tristian looked at the picture with an embarrassed expression, wondering what this was supposed to be.

"Ah. Seems we have an outfit idea. Hati, please go clothes shopping with Tristian. And remember, no stopping for extra food." Todd said. Hati just blushed a little and put a coat on. "Alright witchlet, let's get you dressed. And try to find stuff that isn't ripped looking, there's always one of those..." he said as he was going out of the door. Tristian walked outside with him, not sure what to say to him, and staying silent until they got to the store.
