It was dawn already and the sun was heading out towards it horizon. The crows of the cocks and the chirping of the birds could be heard from a distance.
A Young Woman in her late twenties walks into a room and finds her almost ten year son still crawled up under his blanket.
"Josh darling, it's time to wake up" she said as she made an effort to wake the boy up with soft taps. when it didn't seem to be working, she decided to pull and lift him up.
"Mom...he stammered i barely had some sleep last night" he said.
"I know, i know. But you have to be in school in the next thirty minutes or else you'll be late" she replied and took him into the bathroom.
She had already prepared a warm bath for him. it was the least she could do.
"wash up let me fix breakfast" she said "and don't forget to brush" she added
"Yes mom" he replied robbing his swollen eyes that were yet to settle. He had bags forming under his eyes. He was just too young to undergo the world's stress.
"sometimes i wish dad was here" he muttered softly.
By this time, Lystra walked down the stairs towards the kitchen. she opened the kitchen cabinet and got out the Jam and bread she had gathered from the restaurant the previous night where she walked as a part time chef. she took the evening routines to prepare Chinese and Italian cuisines.
It was exactly 7am when both Mother and Son were ready. They needed to hurry to the drive way so that Josh won't miss the school bus.
Just then, Lystra had her cell ring
"No. not now" she grunted. it was her boss.
"I expected you to report for work before my arrival. But you're late again" He said with a loud but clear voice that sounded like a bass guitar.
"I'm so sorry Sir.." Lystra replied at the other end of the call terrified
"I'll be at my office when you arrive. Don't keep me waiting" He thundered and ended the call.
"Hurry up Josh" she said with a worried look on her face. if only she was able to do everything at the same time it would have helped.
There was a tweech and a car with a familiar sound pulled over almost bumping into them.
Lystra screamed and pulled her son into a warm but safe embrace.
It was the same car she knew six months ago.
Even till the end it tried to kill her.
She gave a sigh of relief as she gave her child a through check.
"You okay my baby?" she asked looking at his wrist and touching his earlobes. while he only nodded.
A hoarse voice came from behind,
Hello Lystra"
She looked up and froze in terror.
