Chapter 11 - Cocoon

Myalis realized she was losing more blood as she ran through the forest and knew she would not survive if she didn't take care of herself.

The girl came to a halt and at the same time, the rain stopped, she tore the bottom half of her nightgown, wrapped it around her wound, took a deep breath, and then tied it tightly.

Myalis had made up her mind that she was not going to die and her mother's magical bag appeared in her hand as well as a paper, she looked at it and a sword appeared in her hand as well.

Myalis smiled, then placed the bag in the pocket of her nightgown and continued running.

They eventually caught up to her, and as one of them went to grab her, she turned around, slashed his hand off, and as another prepared to attack her, she slashed him across the chest. When the person who had given the order saw that she had killed his men, he gritted his teeth in rage.

Myalis was about to move on further, but her body was in too much pain and she fell onto her knees and looked at the guy and the remaining men he had left with him and she held onto her sword tightly.

"I am going to finish you off, I cannot afford your father coming here, he is too powerful for us to fight off, which is why we have to deal with you now since our boss couldn't and he doesn't like an unfinished job, it's too much of a hassle to take care of later, you should have died peacefully with your mother," He said and she gnashed her teeth as her eyes lit up, she was about to force herself to move when she heard footsteps and before her, she saw a glowing white light and red beady eyes looking at her as it jumped before her, her vision was blurry but yet she got a glimpse of it, she saw it was a fox.

"You..." Myalis mumbled as the fox looked at the men with an angry look in its eyes.

They fired arrows that were about to pierce Myalis, but the fox released an orange form of energy that contained the heat from fire, and it burned the arrows, causing them to fall to the ground in ashes and the men exchanged glances.

"What in the world is this? It must be one of the family's pets, after all, they are beast tamers, so kill the creature, but do not let the girl escape, there is something wrong with her," The guy said as the fox growled at them, its eyes glowing red.

As they surrounded the fox, Myalis stood up, and before they could attack the fox, Myalis struck two of them from behind, and they fell to the ground, and the fox released flames from its tail which engulfed their bodies and the only thing heard from them after that was agonizing screams, then it wrapped its tail around her and rushed off, the remaining men followed them leaving their dead comrades behind.

"I won't be able to last much longer, you should get away," Myalis muttered, and she heard the fox chuckle as she tried to look at it, but she was already on the verge of passing out.

As they were almost at the end of the forest, the fox jumped off a hill which was used as a short cut then placed Myalis gently on the grass as the men arrived.

The fox's body began to glow white, and before they could attack, it jumped into the air and released a ball of flames, causing a small explosion that killed the remaining men as the guy went to where Myalis was.

The creature roared at him, and he gasped and was about to flee, seeing how powerful the beast was, but the creature didn't give him a chance, it wrapped its tail around his neck, and his body was engulfed in the same flames as his fallen comrades, causing it to turn to ash and disappear.

"Thank you very much... You helped me a lot despite the fact that I am a stranger; I will never forget this, can you understand?" Myalis inquired, and the creature braced its head against her hand, and Myalis chuckled.

"I can hear you perfectly fine," A soft voice came from the fox's direction as she looked at it and it seemed as though a girl was sitting by her side.

"I think I'm seeing things now..." She mumbled and a smirk appeared on the person's face, then Myalis fell unconscious. The creature looked at the paper in her hand, but flinched as the girl's body began to glow slightly.

In her unconscious state, a cocoon began forming around her body, covering her up while glowing purple, and all she could feel was a tingling sensation and energy flowing within her, the creature left staring at her with its mouth wide open, not knowing what to do.

After an hour, her right hand which contained the paper, emerged from within the cocoon and the creature which had stayed with her during the time overheard people chattering, heading in their direction and it stood up then looked at the sky.

It was already morning, and the sun had risen a few hours back; in order for her to get help, the fox roared. A bystander heard the roar, but couldn't see where it came from. They did, however, notice the cocoon and her hand and rushed over to her to help.

The fox left, seeing that the girl would receive the assistance she required.

After that, all Myalis felt was someone holding her hand before everything went black. She had no idea where she was or who she was with at the time, but she knew her mother's funeral and everything else had passed her by and there was nothing she or anyone could do to change that, all that she could do was accept what had happened.

A while after, when Myalis's eyes finally opened and she was fully awake and healed, she found herself lying on a soft bed and it was really cold around her.

She wiped her eyes, then looked around while trembling when she recalled that a cocoon had formed around her body. She then looked at her body and sighed when she saw that she was in one piece and that her injuries had healed. At the same time, she also noticed that she was wearing different clothes, her eyes narrowed, while she wondered where she was.

"Where in the world am I!" She exclaimed as she jumped out of the bed and raced out of the room she was in.
