The lawful good side of me cringed at the thought of teaming up with a legitimate villain. However, I was a practical kid, and a self-styled strategist like me would never say no to a team-up that evened the odds against an enemy I couldn't beat solo despite all the prep work I'd done.
So, yeah, I took Carmina's hand, and 'She Who Devours the Moon' lifted me back to my feet with a warm toothy smile that didn't exactly put me at ease.
"Kill him, then split the treasure fifty-fifty?" I suggested.
"I do not need the gold. My wealth is already immeasurable," Carmina stated in a matter-of-fact tone. "I want but one thing from Vlad's treasure horde."
"Which is?" I prompted.
"A vial of the vampire lord's blood," Liara answered for Carmina.
The she-elf appeared at my side and wrapped her arms around my neck, giving me the kind of hug that sent warmth streaking into my tired bones.
