The force of the explosion sent Liara and me barreling into deeper waters where waves crashed against us, pushing and pulling us in every direction, nearly forcing us apart. Nearly. But the river wasn't strong enough to separate me and Liara. We held each other tight no matter how far or deep we went until at last we reached a point in the river where the waters were calmer. Together, we broke the water's surface and took in our first deep breaths of fresh mountain air.
"Get off me," Liara complained.
Only then did she push me away.
"Excuse me for keeping us alive," I countered. Luckily, my breath was back, and I no longer sounded like I had a frog stuck in my throat.
"You barely had any strength in your arms," Liara reminded me. "If I hadn't been holding you…"
The she-elf's cheeks flared just before she could look away.
'What a shy kid.' I chuckled.
