Chapter 136 - Green card

Tyler Davis recalled Amelia's sudden change, recalling her rejection of him over the years, deceiving him time and time again, only to leave him. The violent anger in his heart was almost uncontrollable, and his mind throbbed with pain.

After a long while, he finally let out a breath, along with a hint of fresh blood from his coughing.

Tyler Davis sat quietly for half a day without giving any orders, without any preparation.

He decided to take a gamble, even though all signs indicated that something was wrong with Amelia. He decided to gamble that there was still a shred of loyalty in Amelia towards him.

He didn't want to take any action because it would make him feel like everything that had happened in the past few days was all fake. He was willing to believe in Amelia, even if it meant potentially putting himself in danger.

"Oh Amelia, please don't let me down!" he thought.

Little did Amelia know, Tyler Davis had inadvertently overheard her conversation with Dylan Grant.

After talking with Dylan Grant, she returned to the library to read, gradually calming down. The Amelia who had previously been filled with hate seemed like an illusion.

She had important classes in the morning, studied hard to complete her academic work quickly, and went to the research lab in the afternoon.

She had promised to finish her studies in a year, but with this turn of events, half of that time had already been taken away. For others, it was an unimaginable task, but if she decided to do it, she could achieve it!

Now she had entered the research institute, and maybe she wouldn't need three years, or maybe Tyler Davis's situation wouldn't have escalated yet, and she could find a solution.

It was a good start to everything.

Amelia arrived at the laboratory, respectfully greeted Professor Brooks, and was met with a cold "Hmm!" from him.

Without any orders, she conscientiously went to the research institute's bookshelf to read. After two hours, she finally stood up and went to the adjacent storage room that Professor Brooks had instructed her to organize.

As soon as she opened the door to the storage room, a strange smell hit her. The room was filled with failed experimental materials or half-abandoned props, piled up in half the room. For some reason, it had never been cleaned up.

And this was Professor Brooks's next task for her, to clean up the entire storage room.

Amelia, of course, had no idea. This was because of Professor Brooks' eccentricity; even if his laboratory was full of junk, he wouldn't allow anyone else to mess around with it. Allowing Amelia to clean up the waste was considered a basic form of approval.

As soon as Amelia entered, the dust in the junk room made her cough uncontrollably. She even left a footprint in the dust as she walked. It looked like no one had cleaned the place for a year and a half.

"Phew!" Amelia let out a long sigh and quickly retreated.

Professor Brooks looked at her disdainfully, thinking that she was scared.

As a result, Amelia put on a dust-proof suit, hat, and mask, armed herself with a water bottle and a towel, and entered the junk room again.

Professor Brooks raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

In Professor Brooks' eyes, Amelia's performance may have only demonstrated obedience and a willingness to endure hardship, but what Amelia had to tolerate was much more.

Her cleanliness obsession made it almost impossible for her to breathe in this environment. She was so uncomfortable that her forehead was covered in veins, but she still came without complaint.

Amelia took a quick look around and realized that, at this rate, she would have to spend two weeks tidying up this place for half the time she spent every afternoon looking at the materials Professor Brooks asked her to read.

Amelia sighed for a few seconds and then got to work. Today, she would first deal with all the dust in the room; otherwise, there would be no place to step.

Two hours later, Amelia walked out of the junk room with her dust-proof suit covered in dust. When she changed clothes, her face was slightly pale.

She didn't complain about anything. "Professor Brooks, you're busy, so I'll go back first and come back tomorrow."

Professor Brooks looked at her with his nose up, made a soft "hmm" sound and nodded.

And so, Amelia ran back and forth in the morning and afternoon, and in the evening, she had to organize what she had learned during the day. She was so busy that her feet didn't touch the ground.

Amelia's absence for long periods of time didn't go unnoticed by her classmates at Saint Hua, and they began to notice that something was amiss. Even the students in her class who had received a lot of help from Amelia began to change their minds.

However, these rumors didn't reach Amelia's ears because she was too busy, and because Noah Foster was fiercely protective of her.

It was already midnight, and Amelia's desk lamp was still on. The soft sound of pages turning could be heard in the night, and Julia Kim, who stuttered a little, looked at Amelia with some concern.

The next day, somehow, news about her obtaining a green card spread like wildfire!

This was a big deal, as the entire campus of Saint Hua was abuzz with excitement, like boiling water on a stove.

The Dean's Office.

"Andrew, what are you doing? Why did you have to go and blabber about Amelia getting her green card?" Professor Lee disapproved, looking at the bald man in front of him.

"Why can't I say it? She got it, didn't she? And now even the Dean can't do anything about it," the bald man retorted angrily.

Professor Lee looked serious, "Whether or not I can remain the Dean is my own problem. Don't blame others. Anyway, it's too late now. But if you can't handle this little bit of pressure, then I can't rely on you anymore. Don't do something like this again in the future!"

The bald man was still unhappy, but seeing Professor Lee's stern expression, he reluctantly nodded his head.

If you asked, that bald man from the Dean's Office still held a grudge against Amelia. He only spread the news about her getting a green card and didn't mention the time when Amelia was evaluated by the Dean's Office!

...

This incident caused a lot of trouble for Amelia.

The main issue was that getting a green card from Saint Hua was practically a legend. Legend had it that you only needed to hear about it, and didn't need to confirm it.

But now it was confirmed, and by someone who had ranked last in their class twice. How could this be explained away?

Even though it was common at Saint Hua for students to not graduate within four years, let alone graduate with a green card, which shortened the time to just one year, the green card itself was a crazy thing.

So Saint Hua placed a great deal of importance on granting green cards. Since the school's founding, they had only issued nearly ten green cards, but only a handful of people successfully graduated. These individuals were all among the top talents in the country, but there were also failures.

Some of them fell short at the very end, by a small margin, and ended up losing everything.

In the past three years, the highest academic record at Saint Hua was graduating in a year and six months. Even for a genius, it wouldn't be easy to complete their studies in just one year!
